After about 6 hours of searching, Ceclit finally locates the nest of some kind of owl - although it is getting late, the owls inside still seem to be asleep. The tree is quite high, but the nest is 'only' about 30' high. Ceclit can attempt to climb the tree if you like - he has a 40% base chance of climbing, and the tree has abundant footholds, so you also get a +40% bonus for a total of 80%. (Failure doesn't indicate damage, since he will simply not be able to climb as a result.) He only gets one roll (unless he figures out some other way to scale the tree). |

First the Druid looks around the base of the tree, it's possible that some feathers may have dropped to the ground. If he finds none, then he does his best to climb up to the nest.

Although Ceclit finds that he cannot climb the tree (not enough footholds), he does find a 2 intact owl feathers that have dropped to the ground in the area. |

The druid gathers these feathers, grumbles, "I guess these will do for now."
He then hikes his way back to the town. |

On the way back, Ceclit passes abundant evergreen trees (sprigs can be used for pass without trace spells), some holly (berries can be used for invisibility to animals spells); he also notices some ragweed (that can be used for an allergy field spell). The evergreen trees also seem to have a good supply of pine nuts (which are good for snacking!). Ceclit can take as much as he likes, more or less. |

Ceclit grabs 5 springs, berries, and enough ragweed for 5 spells (there's a bit of a pattern here).
He also grabs a couple of pounds of pine nuts. |

Ceclit collects 5 pine sprigs, 5 holly berries, and 5 bunches of ragweed, as well as collecting about 2 pounds of pine nuts (they must be shelled to be eaten - not an easy task by hand). He passes by a family of fluffy gray rabbits as he walks back to town. |

The druid realizes his hunger as he spies the potential meat. As quietly as he can Ceclit grabs a spear, takes aim and hurls it at the largest rabbit.

Ceclit calmly takes a step to throw his spear beautifully, but the druid slips on a smooth rock, falling flat on his face. The spear flies almost straight up, and then wobbles as the spearhead smacks into the ground right next to Ceclit's head. The fluffy gray rabbits bounce away as they notice their would-be predator. |

"Ouch," he says to the now empty woods. He stands up and brushes himself off. He retrieves his spear, does a quick check for damage and continues back towards the village.

Ceclit's spear seems to be undamaged, so he brushes off the dirt from it and then returns to town. |

When Tursin Read the Trapped Scroll (Chapter 10):
A great explosion suddenly rushes out from Tursin's scroll, engulfing the wizard! Ceclit tries to avoid the flames as well, but they are too fast, and soon the flames are upon him... Searing pain overwhelms him as time seems to slow down as he resists the pressing darkness that comes too soon... However, Ceclit soon feels calm and without pain - in the darkness, he sees a single oak leaf that appears out of nowhere, blown about by unseen and unfelt winds; the leaf is a single point of calm that soothes and comforts the druid in the darkness. As he concentrates on trying to follow the leaf's movements, the leaf seems to grow bigger, and suddenly a great oak forest erupts from the leaf, and Ceclit finds himself in a majestic wilderness that feels very, very comfortable - almost like home, even though he has never been here. Great, majestic oaks, of the kind that Ceclit has never seen before, stand tall before him. |

At first the druid is dazed and is not quite sure what has happened. Slowly he realizes that he has died. Even though he's in such a beautiful place he drops down to his knees. "I've failed," he says.

One of the great oaks standing high in front of Ceclit rumbles as it slowly moves its branches and opens its eyes to look at the druid. Opening its mouth, a slow, deep voice calls out, "Why so gloomy?" |

"My friends, they were caught in a trap. I was the only one with any skills in healing. I fear that they're all dead. If I had survived the explosion I could help them."
