Abel rears the camels to a stop as he sees the desert monster and the several large beetles it just dispatched and gasps in fear. As the grick turns it's deadly intent towards the mage. Able will turn the camels and head back to jasper as fast as possible. OoC:Two questions... How big were the beetles that the grick killed? How far back did I leave Jasper? I Imagine you want an Initiative... Dice Roll:

a) the giant bittles are the size of big dogs. b) jasper should be back enough not to be seen so i think some 100 meters or so would do.
__________________the grick is interested in any nice free meal he can get but going behind a camel is not his idea of fun, so instead he starts diging back to his hiding place Abel reaches where jasper is waiting together with the other camels, he can not see the light source any longer. nor his own tracks to go back to where he came.(it is a dark night after all) Last edited by LadyofHats; 06-20-2007 at 06:31 AM. |

Returning to jasper, Abel shudders at the thought of what the creature would have done had he not ran. "I think we need to start taking more precuations out here. It may be a desert but it seems to be teeming with danger." Before resting for the night Abel will take to his books and study spells which could help the small band make it through the nights.
__________________In the morning Abel will take a look around for his foot prints, "I think we should try to find that grick and the insects it killed. Gross and disgusting yes, but we might need the food." OoC: Going to prepare "Alarm" and cast it before sleeping. In the morning Abel will take Jasper and the camel back towards the grick if he can find his prints. If not then Abel will continue on the normal course. How many more days will my suppliues last (estimate)? |

Abel wipes at the sweat on his brow, yet he only manages to smudge fine sand across his face. "This place is begining to bore me." The mage swivels his head to take in the panorama of the vast open and hot desert, "How about you? All this nothing makes me wish we hadn't ditched that irritable tree. But at it's pace I imagine we'd be days back the way we came" After shaking his waterskin Abel follows with a shake of his head, "And our supplies would probably run out well before we got anywhere."
__________________With a puff the weary man drives his group on, eyeing the camel burdened by the remaining supplies. I suppose I can cut that one loose when the supplies are low enough to carry on the two Jasper and I ride. And if things are that bad, I might have to kill it for food. Abel quickly shakes the idea from his head, "We must be in a desperate situation if I'm thinking like that, Jasper." |

the sun burns in the sky and all arround there is nothing but sand, and it is so hot that now even sweat stays in the skin. after a while under the sun you will feel like having fever.

the anoying figure will apear abel all arround his path, and whatever he says they will not answer, and if he tryes to touch them he would go through them as if they where ethereal figures.

The cammles mixture of warm musk and sun baked hair fill Ables nostrels as he takes a deap breath in. "Mmm... wha.. what happen-WA WHA WHAOH!" With the grace of a log, the drowsy wizard falls from the saddle onto the soft inviting sand. "I must have passed out from the heat..."
__________________For a long while he'll simply lay there on his back, staring at the millions of glowing specks twinkling in the black. Back on the edge of Sarindar he was never able to see the stars properly, even through Mergle's telescope. The forest canopy had few openings with which to see through. "They are something, ey Jasper? Unchanging dots of white unfased by the pitch black that surrounds them. Only the sun can lay them low..." Abel sits up shaking the sand from his head, "Guess I shouldn't have expected anything different of myself. If only I could run from the heat of the sun like they do." "Take you with me?! Of course I would. Though it's not like the heat bothers you much." Abel sighs, and looks around in the dark. "That little nap I got was nice but I don't feel all that good about navigating in the dark, Let's stay here till light." OoC: Sorry for my lack of posting Lady, I had more trouble catching up on work after coming back from my camping trip on the 10th than I though I would. Are the ghost/hallucinations still around? |

the day starts as everyday in the last weeks. with a hot sun raising in a cloudless sky. yet as the day advances things start to change. the wind is blowing constantly and with it there is a huge amount of sand raising. it is not a storm as such becouse the wind doesnt blow so fast. but the amount of sand that is raises is enough to oscure the sight. so that is not really posible to look to far away.
__________________the temperature has also gone a bit down if well not considerable. it remains being terribly hot. breathing alone is also a problem, you would have to cover your face in order to aboid brathing sand. but what is must complicated from all is to know in wich direction you are walking. you have absolutly no reference point to guide yourself |

"Damn desert. If it's not trying to bake you, it's trying to burry you in sand and suffocate you." Abel sits leaning on his resting camel looking over a scrap of clothing and leather he pulled from his own clothing. "Well, it won't be much of a mask but it's better than nothing. Hopefully it can help with breathing." After a few moments of lashing an idea suddenly strikes the mage. "Hey that might work."
__________________"Quickly Jasper gather all the robe and loose rags we have. It's crazy but we're desperate." "We can't see throught the sand, but we just might be able to see over it." |

Abel pokes through several sacks of random supplies, "AHA!" Pulling out a real of rope the heat weary man stops for a moment tapping his stubbled chin. "Oh ya." After handing the rope off to Jasper tha mage makes for his book. "Hmm, where are you, where are you. Tch, Tch-tch." With a quick flip of the pages and he finds his arcane quary. "Give me a moment Jasper, we'll soon be in business."
__________________With an anti-climactic plop Abel drops to the ground in concentration. After a long silent while he raises his head to see Jasper holding the rope stoicly. "Now Hand me the rope. Now you hold this end as tight as possible, Hopefully the camels will stay where they are but if they decide to get up and move tug on your end three times." Abel holds his hand, three fingers up, in front of his companion. Without missing a beat the hand joins the other in a complex system of eldrich movement. "Remember everything I told you. I'll be back soon." After tieing his end to his waist, Abel quickly floats up into the sand consumed sky. OoC: Gona get the rope, gona memorise "Fly" and gona go up until I make it over the sand or I make it to the end of the rope. If I make it over the stormyness I'll keep going up, but at a slower pace. Then I'm gona scan in all directions of course. Last edited by TheDude; 07-21-2007 at 09:23 PM. |

__________________Abel casts the magic upon himself, he can feel the energy flowing arround and inside him. as he moves his hands in presice learned movements his body would start to raise. Jasper would hold the rope standing still not reacting to thw wonder that happens infront of him. Abel would go up and up, across the fine sand cloud and reaching the top of it. an terribly hot sun light would greet him. arround him he can see the sand cloud extending some kilometers arround. a view that may be exciting at first but soon becomes as tedious as the sand dunnes. Spot check please |
