Hall of Fame
Which are these, you ask? Well, that's for the members to decide! Nominations for the Hall of Fame are hereby opened. What will this mean, you ask? Well, the selected games will simply be moved to a new forum, called the Hall of Fame. It will stand as a beacon of the kind of play that we all hope to achieve. Plus, there's just the whole honor of knowing that you participated in or ran a game that was hall-of-fame worthy. ![]() Anyone with 100 or more posts on the site can nominate a game. A game can be nominated if it meets the following requirements:
This doesn't mean that any old game will be put in the Hall of Fame. Selections will be based upon quality of roleplay and OOC, something that cannot be quantitatively measured. For this nomination period, there is no *set* limit for the number of games that can make it into the Hall of Fame, so feel free to nominate any games that you feel are worthy of the title! Not all will make it, but don't lose hope. There will be future rounds, and games that don't make the cut can be re-nominated. There's nothing to lose in nominating your game if it meets the requirements. Nominations will be open until Saturday, June 9th. At that point, the Hall of Fame inductee games will be decided by Community Supporters (And, if you want a say in who makes the cut, it's not too late to get yourself a subscription. ).Finally, the last requirement for submission? That you use this format: If someone nominates a game, and you wish to "second" it, make your own application. This will keep things kind of separate and clean, instead of a host of "second"ings. So, have at the nominations! Throw out that special game that you've been lurking around, watching, or even participating in! |

__________________DM: hvg3akaek Reason: This game has been running for a year and seven months. It is a low level game, it started at level one. Hvg has come up with very creative special events to have in the game, including a guess the dinner game.. So Krow's game Sweet Revenge which is at least one year old and has over 50,000 posts is not eligible? It also probably contains ¼ of the players on this board :P

Dark Times in Thanedor
DM was gazzaverage Many players, lasted a long time and everyone had a great time. A lot of PvP which normally doesn't appeal to me, but was very well managed. ----- There was another game, (someone will have to help me out here) - can't remember the name or DM, called something like 'Rememberance'.. It was the story of an elvish empire destroyed by dragons. The party consisted of a members of each of the races, in a quest to avert a dragon led doom to the world. It was a wonderful read, good high quality posting. Wish I could remember the name or DM :-( -- Lastly I'd like to add in Dark Entries DMed by Blayz. Another great game, well paced and a lot of fun for all the participants. Heck, there are probably heaps more, but three nominations should help get the ball rolling. Name of Game: Dissolution
__________________DM: Qlydic Reasons for nomination: The game has been running solidly since September 2005, with no player dropouts or long-term absences. Qlydic tells a really good story, and all of us are really wrapped up in it. It's a fun game in which keeping track of information and finding things out is just as important (actually, more important) than shooting up stormtroopers and thumbing our collective noses at the imperials. |

Game: Thiam Chronicles
__________________DM: LadyofHats I'm not sure if this one is disqualified (from this round) on account of The Lady's artistic contributions to the news letter. That would be ironic since one of the reason I am nominating the game is - Is so utterly amazing to see a picture of your PC in a scene from the storey. Keep drawing Lady. Oh and the storey line is incredible too. EDIT: Link added per Unko's post. Last edited by Neil; 06-04-2007 at 06:36 AM. |

Aundair Elite
__________________DM: Nzar Reason for Nomination: Likely one of the oldest games I still participate in, this gem is finally coming to an end, and I'd like to honour it properly. You may see a number of the users on the first page of top rpxp and posts have "Nzarling" in their signature. This is one of three games that heralded such a group. The main reasons I feel Aundair Elite deserves this award is that throughout the whole trying affair of DMing 15-18 people, Nzar has almost always been able to update 5/week or more, and all quality posts on both parts of the DM and the players. Unique concepts from warforged who wish to remove humanity to preserve it all the way to undead ninjas who speak only in haiku all make appearances in the players. All characters interact often and work out issues in both morals and strategy, and though that usually happens in many games, it is all the more important with a DM not afraid to be realistic in combat. "Run into the fray, then die you may". Of course, the interaction with sometimes 18 characters in a group session requires a lot of effort on all parts, and players work hard with the DM for everything to go smoothly. Split into three squads, each with objectives, as the beginning worked out, Nzar made each objective react with the other teams appropriately in the same area. (Or so we'd like to believe. ) I can only really expand on the war stories of Group One, of the unfortunate demise of all but the captain of the first group, (through no fault of mine. ) and how the second group wanted the captain to prove himself, and taking out strongholds and other tales of victory and fleeing. The other two groups have had issues as well, though mostly I learn of these through the OOC... You mention OOC quality as well, and not quantity, but I do need to say that I think the Aundair OOC is one of the most active on the whole site, and it isn't simply posts saying "yo", but sometimes social commentary, sometimes Nzarling activities, sometimes simply what you thought of Heroes. But every post (or almost every) adds more information to the discussion, tossing in a new viewpoint without mindless acquiescence, and it has all been managed with care and respect for all sides of the story. The game is finishing up, and will likely be done by the summer, simply due to personal reasons, though both PCs and DM wish it could go longer. There has been downtime, and there have been problems along the way, people Fitzing off, but it has been an amazing experience for me and I've met most of my online friends directly or indirectly from this game. Oh yes, I give all this, but did I mention it is, under all the fluff, a Roll-playing game? Our final battle is over 30 custom-made NPCs (and innumerable copies and generics) versus our PCs. That shows a different kind of DM quality. (I can't nominate Nzar's previous game, since I didn't play in it, but if Embrodak or Anomalous are reading this, I think you guys should. Also, feel free to add anything. I can't get across the awesomeness in my post. )In ending, I can't let myself play the haiku ninja without finishing with one: Aundair Elite, Fires of war and crash of dice, Enlightenment dawns. (Now imagine putting up with all one person's speech being like that. Or writing it for that matter, and you know the effort everyone puts into this.) |

What Rough Beast
__________________DM: Eoghan Reasons for nomination: This was the first game I was ever accepted to, and was immidiately engrossed in thick, rich role-playing. Eoghan mixed adventure with character development in a way that allowed the game to continue without his interference or posting for long stretches of time, but never felt interupted when he did interject a continuation of the plot. Eoghan's skill as a DM wasn't the only thing that made the game so great. His campaign setting was very rich, but with a great deal of room to fill. He encouraged his players to help him build the setting with their own work, and one of his campaigns went to an extreme by placing it earlier in the timeline, to allow the players to participate, and partically help mold what would come to be the setting's "present." These two things could only be accomplished because of one important thing: quality players. Giving players an great playing environment only works if the players can appreciate and skillfully interact within it. It might be that Eoghan was exceptionally skillful at choosing players, but no matter the reason, there was an excellent crew. |

Name of Game: Ravaged Soul: The Beckoning
__________________Link to the Forum: http://www.rpgcrossing.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1877 DM: Daemos Reasons for nomination: Ultimate evil - check. Ultimate evil's not so evil reasons for destroying the world - check. Ultimates evil's eventual sacrifice for all of man kind - check. A weird dragon kobold thing that scared the hell out of me. (Flikflak fan club - fan No.1) - check. This game lasted for over a year, in which I had all of my greatest role-playing experiences :-p. This epic level game started back when I was barely into this site, and it is the reason I am still here. Daemos took the game from magical high to magical high as he carefully toyed with our characters lives, and after lives... :-/ Anyway, I played this game for...a long time...and enjoyed every minuite, this game is a chapter set in a multiverse full of...alot of very weird and wonderful beings...and thats just the Pcs. This game ended a couple of months back, since then next section of the game has begun, which im enjoying as an even more...well no hints about that character incase someone is reading :-p. I was captivated by Daemos' skill almost from the word go, which was only enhanced by the other players :-). We did unfortunatly have a couple of players fall by the wat side as we went, but Daemos seemed to take this in his stride. In summery - why I think this game deserves a place in the hall of fame... -continously changing storyline that didn't let us get bored for a moment, (even if we wanted it to :-p). -Superb Pcs (if your reading this, I loved playing with you guys!). -Great Rp and posting (with great avoiding of meta-gaming, which always annoys me). -Character development...(did I mention the shadow dojo thingy yet?). -A great selection of friendly and fun people :-). -Because you love me :-). Well thanks from reading my rambles :-) (or at least skipping to here) I kinda went over the top, (but I have free time today for once :-D). |
