Darren takes immediate action and sprints down the corridor after the undead beasts. His sword was ready and he needed some action after being beaten around by the house. Dassek follows behind, hesitantly, when he notices that no one else is following him. Darren reaches the end of the hallway and encounters a circular stairway. Darren can hear the creatures rushing down the stairway below and see their glowing eyes glancing up at him every once in a while. They stop and scatter at the bottom of the stairwell, about a floor below Darren's present position. Dassek reaches him and looks down the stairwell too.

Darren runs headlong down the stairs with sword in hand (specifically against everything his mother had every taught him). He reaches the bottom and comes to a screeching halt. The circular iron stairway leads to the center of a underground cave. The cave's rough dug walls transcribe a lopsided circle with the stairway and Darren in the middle. The two creatures stand at one of the tunnelways leading from the cave, little seen but the two sets of glowing eyes. As he prepares to join these unmentionable undead in battle with his blade, he sees three more pairs of eyes blink open to regard him from the surrounding darkness of the cave. The stench of the dead and sweet smell of rot reaches Darren's delicate senses. It was then that Darren realized that Dassek was still at the top of the stairway and the others, he wasn't sure where they were...

Darren is so happy to finally have something to hit that he doesnt care that he's outnumbered five to one. The warrior puts his back towards the staircase so nothing can get behind him then drops into a defensive stance.

The undead turn and stare at the intruder who had followed them down the stairs. Darren raises his sword and readies himself. Seeing the threatening warrior in their territory, the undead turn and rush towards Darren. But as they quicken, they also seem to be slowing down. Darren feels a cold tingling suffusing his blood and traveling throughout his body. Time itself seems to be stopping and Darren, along with the undead rushing him, seem to be trapped within its bounds. And then a familiar feeling comes over Darren as another ghastly vision overcomes him.,,
__________________...you see a young man ahead of you. Sweaty, filthy, and wild-eyed, he digs at the stone floor of the room with a pickaxe. With each swing, he grunts out two words "for you." He continues to swing the pick, stone chips flying. He stops for second to wipe away a bead of sweat and then continues. The vision starts to fade into blackness when the young man's digging seems to come to fruition. He breaks through to the beyond. With a falling of rocks, the hole widens. Then from the darkness beyond, sets of eyes appear and the undead that were before Darren break through, rising up and pulling the man into the darkness below. He quickly disappears into the dark hole amidst clutching claws. As the final seconds of the vision end, the undead eyes turn to regard Darren with malevolence... ...and time reverts to normal, the undead finishing their rush towards Darren. His sword flashes out catching his first attacker across the body and follows through to decapitate the second assailant. Both fall, the later falls and remains still on the floor, while the former falls to the ground twitching still. The other three undead turn and pounce on Darren. Their claws catch at his arms, rending the flesh and furrowing deep wounds in his flesh. Last edited by Silent Tiger; 02-22-2010 at 10:37 PM. |

Darren VandenBurg, Daring Noble!
Darren grunts and groans in pain as the ice cold filthy hands of the undead tear at his pristine skin. Knowing that he can defeat these monsters though steels his resolve and the young noble launches a flurry of slashes at his assailants. |

Darren feels a burning sensation. He wonders who he got it from.

Dassek hears sounds of Darren's plight and rushes down the stairs with a Dwarven battle cry. "Raaaa~~~" .. or maybe just a cry, there wasn't anything terribly Dwarven about it except that Dassek is a dwarf...

(Synopsis: Darren takes 8pts of damage and his wounds are infected, more information coming later.)
__________________Darren manages to shake off the strange vision. The additional undead before him start to fade slowly away leaving only the two that had actually rushed him as solid. One of those lays motionless on the ground, the other severely wounded. Darren attempts to stab the remaining twitching one, but the bugger is elusive, rolling back and forth on the ground. The hurtling form of Dassek comes barreling down the stairwell brandishing his glowing holy symbol. The light stretches out engulfing the resisting undead and the remainder of the vision. With the infusion, the vision is burned out completely. Even the bodies of the undead on the floor wither under the glare, turning in an instant to piles of ash. ...now that you have a moment, the cave at the bottom of the stairwell is almost as large as a large room. three different tunnels lead out from the cave. One leads in the general direction of the lake. A slight and constant whistling can be heard from that direction. The other two lead in the other direction, deeper beneath the house. The one to the southeast is dark a quiet and there are signs that this path is more well traveled. The tunnel leading northeast is dark also. There are signs of usage, but not as much as the other tunnel. Also, a faint lapping sound can be heard coming from that tunnel. |

In the lit (or unlit) caverns Dassek has no trouble scouting the surrounding area. "Most recently, nay. But, the trail in t'at direction" Dassek points south east. "Is t'e most well traveled. No doubt we'll encounter more of t'ose beings, but per'aps following t'em will lead us to a source of sorts"

Reiterating the tunnels:
__________________Tunnel leading east: This tunnel leads in the general direction of the lake. There seems to be a constant whistling, and undulating whining, coming from further along the tunnel. The tunnel is dark. Tunnel leading southwest (sorry said east but was wrong direction): This tunnel is wider and larger. The ground seems to be well worn with travel, mostly shuffling going back and forth along the tunnel. You feel a breeze coming from the tunnel. It seems cool and fresh but also has an underlaying hint of death and decay, like the smell of the undead recently encountered. The tunnel is dark. Tunnel leading northwest (not northeast like I accidentally stated): This one two shows signs of recent travel, though you can pick out some footprints, and there are not so many shuffling marks. From further distance down the tunnel, you can hear lapping water. The tunnel is dark. |

Finding his lantern, Dassek lights it and hands it to Darren. "'ere ye go."
