While still in animal form, Huvan begins a series of sqwaks and wing flaps as he begins to cast a spell. Given his appearance, the Barghest haven't bothered to pay any attention to him as of yet. Sensing that he needs a better position, Voodoo first feints a low attack against the first two Barghest and then expertly jumps over the creatures when they crouch low to attack. He lands on the other side of them like a practiced acrobat going straight into a roll that ends with him several feet away with chain in hand. Wasting no movements, he lashes out with his chain against the human huddled against the back wall. The human that had led the Barghest in the building has plastered himself up against the wall trying to keep as far away from the battle. The man's face is pure terror as the spiked chain comes at him and wraps around his legs. No! No! Please let me go! I didn't do anything! He screeches as he begins to flail wildly. In his panic the chain falls off preventing Voodoo from tripping the man. The two Barghest closest to Voodoo then move in for an attack of their own. The next moment is a flash of fangs and claws that envelope Voodoo but shockingly don't even scratch him. He is either very luck or very good. As Huvan completes his spell, the air in front of him begins to swirl, shimmer and clouds. A moment later a massive tiger takes shape from the cloud. The tiger looks back at the eagle and tilts its head in surprise. Huvan had originally targeted the opposite area but there was no longer enough room for the tiger in that part of the hallway. She then jumps directly into the fray attacking the closest Barghest with claws and a bite of her own. Her first claw looks like it is going to connect but the creature seems to wink out of existence just in time. This seems to disturb the tiger enough that her other attacks also miss. Barghest 1 2/33 (blinking) Barghest 2 22/33 (blinking) Barghest 3 33/33 (blinking) Barghest 4 33/33 (blinking) Tiger 45/45 (7 more rounds) Last edited by BraveSirRobin; 06-10-2008 at 12:56 PM. |

Having been grinning the whole time through the tumbling and the jumping, Voodoo's expression took on a serious tone now. He knew that if he wasn't careful, his luck would run out, and that would be a very bad thing right now.
__________________But that was something to keep in the back of his mind, for now he had rather pressing matters at hand. Right now he was out numbered three to one and he was losing ground, something that certainly was going to be cramping his style here in the very near future. Without much need for thought, Voodoo took a step back away from the Barghest and focused his attention on the creatures. With the tiger there now, he was glad to have some relief and distraction, but still he had his hands full. He looked around for some type of stairwell, hoping to find a way to limit the space of these creatures and put himself in a one on one situation rather than getting surrounded. He knew that if he were to remain surrounded his odds of survival would dramatically decrease. Still though, would he be able to pull off another stunt like that last one? It was a question he was willing to find the answer to as he feined left then ducked right, trying to tumble past the Barghest once again into the stairwell that he passed on his way to the end of the hall. Once there, he centered his thoughts and unleashed his fury as he let loose his chain once again, this time aiming for the heart of the Barghest at the top of the stairs... Huvan couldn't believe his eyes, Is he actually smiling? By the will of nature!!! He must be out of his mind.
__________________Huvan noticed that the Barghest were blinking, seemingly switching between two different planes. This made the beasts doubly difficult to attack since they were hard to see and not always corporeal. The druid had learned some tricks for dealing with Barghest during his time in Hell's forest. One such trick was to highlight a Barghest with Faerie Fire. This served two purposes; first it would sometimes catch the beasts off guard and scare them for a moment into thinking they were on fire, second it reduced the formidable foes to mere target practice for a mage and his magic missiles. Huvan knew he had at least one of those ingredients and it would have to do for the time being. He summoned the power of his Stormfire ring and willed it's magic toward the Barghest nearest to Voodoo. As Huvan worked his magical ring the tiger he had summoned only moments before started to square itself up for another attack. This time the tiger had every intention of grabbing one of these foul creatures and taking it to the ground for a serious pounding. [ spoilerbutton=Rolls, notes, stuff] The intention of using the Faerie Fire is to reduce the penalty to hit a blinking creature from the normal %50 to %20. *Note* The Stormfire ring is one of those rare items that is usable in wild form. I didn't include this before but the tiger should be attempting to enter a grapple based on the Improved grab feat. [/spoilerbutton ] Last edited by BraveSirRobin; 06-10-2008 at 12:57 PM. |

OOC: Sorry for holding you up, been a busy few days!!
Rauverne quickly assesses the situation and realises he has to act fast. Trying to attract the couple’s attention, Rauverne, still invisible, shouts from his vantage point, Hey, over here….by the window. You won’t be able to see me, but I can see you. As Rauverne awaits for the couple to react to his disembodied voice, he continues, Who are you and who’s after you? Tell me quickly, I may be able to help. I have a spell that could you get you both out of harms way. We need to trust each other though. He looks around the room he is in, to see whether his shouting has attracted any undue attention in this building. When he is satisfied that he is still alone in the room, he will concentrate on expediting the couple’s escape…provided he trusts them of course. Diplomacy check on the couple - will they trust an unseen voice? Dice *

Huvan casts Faeire Fire, envoloping the Barghest in a magical glow making them clear to see by all. This doesn't totally negate their blinking ability but it does certainly reduce it. Tiger attacks but misses even with the help of the fire. Voodoo then attacks, but misses even with the help of the fire, his chain passing straight through. His second attack though, decapitates the creature (-30hps!). The Barghest attack Voodoo and the tiger with another flurry of claws and fangs but suprisingly nothing. This time their own blinking actually works against them. Barghest 1 -28/33 (dead) (fired) Barghest 2 22/33 (blinking) (fired) Barghest 3 33/33 (blinking) (fired) Barghest 4 33/33 (blinking) (fired) Tiger 45/45 (6 more rounds) [SECRET=Dondero] The two people look down, thinking the voice must be coming from there and shout. Call the guards, there is some sort of fight happening. It sounds like some sort of wild animals as well. [secret for all] Last edited by BraveSirRobin; 06-10-2008 at 12:59 PM. |

Voodoo's grin returns as he lobs off the head of the first Barghest, but he knows that all this dodging isn't going to last for long. He decides to begin taking a more tactical approach and include the man in his plans. Taking a step back, Voodoo takes a quick look over his shoulder at the man and says, "Call off your hounds or I swear I'll kill you where you stand!"
__________________Then, to demonstrate his intent, Voodoo swings his chain around with a flourish and lashes out at the second Barghest. Last edited by BraveSirRobin; 06-10-2008 at 12:59 PM. Reason: forgot secret tags... sorry for editing. |

Unsure as to exactly what’s happening in the adjacent building, Rauverne wonders whether this uproar is the handiwork of Huvan and Voodoo. A pack of wild animals? Huvan did mention that he had some kind of animal follower, although I don’t recall exactly what he said it was.
Quietly moving away from his vantage point, Rauverne gingerly descends the stairs as he exits this building. Intent on making his way over to the neighbouring building, he pauses to look around and gather his bearings in the gloomy twilight. His concern for the couple in the upstairs window, and for the trouble his new companions may have got themselves in, galvanise him into taking decisive action. Still with an arrow nocked in his bow, he trots gracefully over to the entrance of the next building. OOC- Not sure how long Rauverne's invisibilty spell has to go? I would hate to be on the wrong side of that chain. Huvan was filled with the sense of relief at seeing Voodoo take the head from one of the Barghest. That feeling was replaced as the urgency of the situation quickly brought him back to reality. Huvan was amazed that the Barghest, known for being fairly intelligent creatures, had not paid him any heed. He knew it was only a matter of time before they finally caught onto his presence so he immediately began the incantations for his next spell. After several moments Huvan's target was consumed with a column of bright light followed immediately by a deafening clap so powerful that the force of it could be felt by all those in the room.

Rauvrne practically runs to the building. Two men sit on the front stoop but they obviously don't notice the invisible Almar passing by, other then for the odd gust of wind that passes between them. He bounds up the stairs and can already hear the sounds of battle as he hits the first step. When he reaches the top he finds a long hallway with Voodoo on the end closest to him, wielding a blood stained chain, and Huvan on the far end. In between them are three lupine creatures, which he recognizes as Barghest, and a Tiger. Another decapitated Braghest lays on the floor. There is also a man huddled in the corner behind Voodoo. It really is an odd scene even in this city. [roll initiative and action please] Once again Huvan begins to chant. [full round so spell doesn't become active until begining of next round at which point you can also act again] As he does so the remains of his previous handywork remain. First a shock of electricity passes through the Barghest making them convulse, even if ever so slightly (-6,-1,-5hps). Then the Tiger Huvan had summoned begins his own attack, although the Barghest are too quick for the creature. Voodoo yells at the unknown man behind him, and judging by the tone of the response, he can tell the man is quite terrified. Call them off? How the HELL am I supposed to do that? It's not like they are mine. They forced me to lead them here!. The parlay doesn't distract Voodoo, however, as he lashes out with his chain once more striking the nearest Barghest in the gut (-11hps), leaving him on his last leg. The Barghest look pretty irate by this point, having been knocked around pretty well so far. As such, they attack with a renued vigor this time around. The first moves forward and lunges at Voodoo's leg, which the rogue deftly avoids, and follow's it up with a vicious claw that catches him in the thigh (-3hps) The second of the Barghest takes a step back from the Tiger and this time seems to be staring at it oddly. The Tiger stares back at him oddly as if something transpired between them, and then turns back at Huvan with teeth bared. Obviously the Tiger was now bespelled by the Barghest. With the Tiger no longer a threat, the last of the Barghest turns back to Voodoo. It moves full speed towards Voodoo and lunges at his arm. Not expecting the attack, the Bargest catches him just above the elbow (-10hps). Running past the men on the stoop, Rauverne is at the foot of the stairs, intent on ascending them, when he surveys the surreal scene above him. Barghests and a tiger…where on earth did that come from?
Quickly processing what’s happening, Rauverne thinks, Just look at the trouble these two get in without me! If I hadn’t been sent off on a wild goose chase by the idiot…. Reluctant to engage in the chaotic throng of melee action at the top of the stairs, instead Rauverne, still cloaked in his invisibility spell, draws his rapier and begins a performance aimed at demoralising their enemies, “You cannot beat us, turn tail and flee, A barghest against the might of me? Home to the forest or death here and now? An end slow and painful: my solemn vow” Getting caught up in the fervour of his own dramatics, Rauverne continues his performance from the bottom of the stairs, unseen but very much audible. |

"Who are you then?" Screamed Voodoo to the man, slightly annoyed that the last creature grazed him. Then it was time for the big nasty in the back to come charging towards him. Fortunately, Voodoo knew that the Barghest charging him would not be expecting the opportunistic attack he was about to make. He slashed out to the charging creature and wrapped his chain around its legs, then gave a mighty tug to try and pull its legs out from under it.
__________________"And what are you doing here?" He called out to the man again as he repositioned himself in the hallway. Now Voodoo was a step closer to the stairs and standing right beside the man. Chain twirling, Voodoo began swinging and blood started flying... Was that singing that he was hearing from the stairwell? |

The song from the stairwell found its way to Huvan. Finally. Thoughts of victory flittered through Huvan's mind at the arrival of Rauverne. With the Barghest now surrounded, it seemed the momentum had finally turned in the group's favor.
__________________Huvan watched the tiger sit on its rump and stare at the group of Barghest blindly. Knowing that the tiger was utterly defenseless, Huvan felt a pang of sadness in his chest. After taking a moment to offer up a silent prayer for the tiger's protection, Huvan began concentrating on his previous spell. With a thought, he commands a bolt of lightning down on the Barghest nearest to the feline. |

Huvan completes his spell and a flash of lighting crosses in front of the nearest Barghest, filling the smell of burnt Barghest (-13hps). At the same time the effects of the Stormfire ring strike again, causing all to burn more (-6,-6,-2hps). This has the effect of not only hurting two of the Barghest, but actually also knocking the third unconcious. If that wasn't enough, Huvan's barage of lightning continues with another to the first Barghest that was struck. He was a bit more prepared for it this time, however, and was able to dodge some of the damage (-4hps).
The tiger finally sorting things out in his own limited ability takes his direction from the now singed Barghest and turns on his summoner. He bounds at Huvan in eagle form, attacking with fang and claw. Huvan manages to avoid the claws, but the tiger manages to bite him on the wing (-11hps) At this point Rauverne begins his ballad which sends a shiver down the backs of everyone, but most notably those of the Barghest and Tiger. (Doubt Sown) Voodoo is the next to act with his whirling chain of death, and he unleashes it the Barghest closest to him. He first tries striking the creature, but is once again foiled as it shifts temporarily into the ethereal. He then deftly wraps the chain around the forelegs of the creature and yanks trying to bring it to the ground once more. The four legged creature isn't about to fall for that once again and holds firm, ignoring the trip attempt. While this is going on the cowering man responds to Voodoo. I..I..I was just told to lead them here. I really didn't know what I was getting into...really. I was just trying to sell some information. The Barghest then launch an attack of their own. The one Huvan had fried joins the Tiger in the attack against him. Claw, claw and bite come flying at the eagle but Huvan manages to dodge them all. It looked at one point like the Barghest would land a bite, but its own etherealness worked against him. The other continues its attack on Voodoo, although it seems quite disturbed by Rauverne's song. It is so disturbed that it make one of its attacks go astray. The bite however, catches Voodoo around the ankle (-11hps). Completing his dramatic performance, Rauverne gives his customary bow, totally forgetting that he is still invisible. Sighing forlornly to himself, giving his long coloured hair a flick, This poor audience are missing out on such a wonderful view.
As his rapier echoes with the intensity of his words and replays them around the stairway, Rauverne seizes his chance to enter the fray, Fear not, Voodoo, Rauverne Kindel is here to save the day! Skipping merrily up the stairs, the invisible almar mutters, Watch where you're swinging that chain! as he moves behind Voodoo to cast a spell on him. |
