Round 4
The wolf turns from Gary, seemingly sizing up the group, looking for another target. Joshua continues to try and talk the Alma-wolf 'down', it didn't have the effect Joshua was hoping for. The last thing he saw was the werewolf's red eyes. The scream of the attack drowned out Gary's failed attempt to draw the Alma-wolf away by hitting him with his fists - the only weapon he had left. Jason steps in and mutters something under his breath. From his eyes its clear that even he isn't sure if the weapon will fire another shot, and even then, if it would make any different. The bullet plunges into the Alma-wolf's jet back coat. It arches its back, and then falls over. Even as it calls to the ground, the Alma-wolf transforms back to the familar form of Alma, though he is quite naked. Rupert had followed Gary toward the beach at a full run. [[Free Play]] |

Gary looks back and swears. "Hey Bert, looks like Alma's not ripping people up anymore... but he's not doing much else either. After seeing Joshua and whomever that other guy was get ripped to shreds, I'd rather not see him go the same way... even if we have to have Hoffman lock him up as soon as we get home."

Following Gary, Jason demands, "What the hell was that? One of your friends?" As Gary checks on the wounded, Jason takes of Larry's shirt, wringing it out he removes as much water as possible before ripping it in half. One half he lays on the ground, field stripping his wet glock he lays the pieces on the shirt, drying them with the other half. "Is that thing still alive? And if it is, what happens when it wakes up? Can we risk it waking up and killing another one of us before we figure out what the hell is going on here? And how do you expect to get back home?"

Gary grimaces. "That's Alma. He's been on the team longer than anyone else here... except maybe Joshua..." He sighs, looking down at his friend's body. "A while back we were investigating some goings-on in LA and he got bitten by a werewolf. So the simple answer is that he's a werewolf. We haven't had problems with it before - usually we have enough warning that he can seclude himself or we can tie him down fairly securely before he changes."
__________________Looking up, he says "As for how we can get home, you may be able to help us on that... See, we got here by crashing an airplane in the middle of the ocean, and haven't really got a clue where we are. Considering that you arrived during the storm, and any air traffic would have avoided that altogether, I assume you arrived via some other route, and might have a better idea where we are. If all else fails, I can build a raft and we can try rowing off somewhere, if we're close enough to somewhere for that to do any good." |

Rupert stumbles his way back up to the carnage, wincing when he sees what remains of Joshua.
“By all that’s…” The words catch in his throat. “By all that’s holy, I hope you found peace, Mr. Holden.” He looks as if he's going to say more, but he holds his tongue and moves over to Alma's still form. There he begins to assess the situation and to bring what skills he can to the fore. |

Oh my God Alma thinks as he rolls over on his back The sheer power of the beast is more than anything I have experienced I must learn to harness it, to control it, make it my own. Alma appears to weak to speak and lays gasping the wounds on his body bleeding but healing. His brow furrows in sorrow realizing what he's done Poor Joshua... killed with my bare hands and the other man too. Not to mention the other two on the island.... His brow straightens and shapes itself into something maniacal but only for a moment The power is worth more than a couple lives is it not? No.. no I must control it I must or I am nothing more than an animal, a hunter. Is it better to be the hunter than the hunted? His grin widens and fades quickly Yes of course it is. He laughs audibly, a short cackle that's quite disturbing considering the recent events. He then curls up in the fetal position and begins sucking his thumb. Madness.... you betcha.

"I fear we have little time for personal regressions, Mr. Patterson." Rupert moves away from the curled-up man. "What just happened?"

Alma removes the thumb from his mouth and stutters his voice growing louder as he contiues his sentence "Regr-gre-ssion,That's quite the f***ing concept. If you ever start turning into a werewolf and killing your comrades I bet you'll want to regress. REGRESS RIGHT THE BLOODY F**K BACK TO YOUR CHILDHOOD." He yells this last part hopping to his feet as he does so his huge black frame trembling as he continues to yell and march toward Rupert. He squares off on Rupert points his finger directly in his face and finishes quietly with "You should have let me die. Next time your hands will be as bloddy as mine and when that happens, then you may talk to me about regression." He kicks sand at Ruperts feet and marches away.

Gary looks over at Alma in exasperation. "Look... we know that wasn't you who killed Joshua - it was those werewolves in LA if it was anyone. As for letting you die... you've been a good friend and comrade for years - we're not about to give up on you now. For that matter, you bit me a couple times in there, which means chances are you've got company now. We need to work together to find some way to beat this condition, rather than letting it beat us. I'm sure you can learn to control it... and if you can't, well... then it's our boss' job to decide what to do about it, not ours."
