That's another thing, if you haven't already, you should specify for your players what starting gold and stat gen is...preferably point buy, and I think i outlined 28 for general use, but I could be mistaken. Starting gold for ecl 5 is 9K gp. For ecl 8, just for reference, it's 27K |

Awesome, thanks. 28 point buy sounds great.
EDIT: Oh, and does UA count as SRD for the purposes of this game? Officially no, but still open source. Last edited by Malikane; 01-13-2009 at 03:22 AM. |

Anything you can find on the SRD counts, as far as I'm concerned. Because it's stuff anyone could find, wouldn't need any books (including, for most things, the core books). So conceivably you could have half-fiend Djinni bloodline Kobolds running around and it'd still be SRD. But it'd qualify there because everyone could find the rules on it.

Is there a limit to how complex room-wise the dungeons we build are? As in, number of floors (All would have the CR of the dungeon, don't worry), Number of rooms, etc? Also, is there a limit to how hard it is to map my dungeon? Am I allowed to force my readers to try and draw their own maps or must I provide?

I'd advise that DM's map their dungeons so that everyone's on the same page, or at least, if the players have to map them, give them a "yes that's right" or "no, this should be here" indicator. But as far as number of floors, rooms, halls, traps, enemies, etc. No, no limit, but as I said in the advert/app threads, players will be allowed to rest as often as they choose, to offset that.

Hey, everyone, I've updated the BASICS post. Please peruse the edits at your convenience (the bottom paragraphs have been tweaked some too, take a look).

Can I both run and play in a game at the same time? Or do I need to finish up the dungeon I'm currently in first?

No, by all means, go right ahead and get your own dungeon started. We need more DM's [chuckles]

Not sure where to say this, but the dungeon I'm working on is 8th level and will be using the Books. I'm using the three core rulebooks only (So far) I may include the DMGII, but I'm not sure yet. If I do, I may permit players to use the Completes.

Rogue, you would put it in the applications thread, and if you only use the 3 core books it would qualify as SRD, because I think almost all the info in those books is in the SRD. You could limit what you wanted, if you didn't want to use the entirety. Of course, adding the Completes would make my distinction worthless.

Thanks, Malikane! As soon as I get it cohesive enough to throw people in there, I'll post it in the application thread.

Glad you've joined us, Rogue13. We're pretty balanced right now as far as players vs DM's go, everyone seems to have somewhere to play. But we're getting new players in every day, so I'm sure you'll have a game soon enough.

Hooray for updated sigs! Anyone willing to advertise this game, either on the DM's Seeking page (by bumping/pitching) or just by adding a quick note in your signature, would be very much appreciated (and will net some RPXP, assuming mine is high enough to boost yours).

Updated Advertisement Post
We've got; Shanrio, Cryptic, Efekjek, and Rogue13 on board. If we can get a fourth person we'll start up the game and work out the details. PM me if you have any questions about the game. If we can get a game thread and a "Hammering Out the Details" thread going, we'll see what we have to work with. Last edited by Adolfo; 01-17-2009 at 07:21 PM. |
