Hey everybody! Just want you all to know, I've already got my character stats drawn up on the dnd char builder beta. I just have to convert him to myth-weavers. I'm going to Germany today until Sunday, I didn't even expect you to be done picking people by then Bacchist, lol. On Sunday I will complete my character sheet on Myth Weavers, and will be ready to play by Monday. If we actually get started that fast, then this will have been a FAST group.

Tiny bit about myself, I'm in the military, stationed in Italy. So my posting time is a bit different, but I love playing PbP since I started it. I loved 4E since it came out. IMO it simplifies a lot from previous editions, including the tedious math of putting together a 3E character, which is what I always dreaded. I'm in another game with Foggy, and my opinion of him couldn't be higher. He's a Great player. I'm excited about this game because we're given the opportunity to shape how cities turn out. It'll be interesting to see how you do it Bacchist. I have faith.

Well, time to hit the road. 6 hour drive to Germany on 2 hours of sleep to hit the slopes tomorrow. Let's do this! Good to meet you all in advance!

Hello everyone. It's great to be here, thanks a lot for choosing me Bacchist, and man do you work fast! Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this one. I'll get the character sheet up as quickly as possible, though I imagine we won't be rolling till the weekend. I look forward to seeing you all soon in the game, and chatting out of character too.

Hi guys! Thanks for picking me, Bacchist! I found this thread before I realized you picked people, so I went back and checked. I'll go set up my character now .

Heh, with everyone except Dim bigger than me, I think my chances for using the Lost in the Crowd feat are high, if the world is about as proportioned as this party. ^^

We do have a gnome!

Dragonborn will definitely be more rare than this party would suggest. There's going to be a pretty good mix of humans, elves, dwarves and halflings as the average commoner, with none being the clear majority. Eladrin and dragonborn will be fairly unusual, outside of a couple pockets where they have established communities.

This party will definitely turn a few heads.

Starting on Monday might be a bit ambitious. I've still got a lot of preparation to do. But, since they approved the game, I figured we should move over here. That way, you guys can start on your characters and get a feel for one another.

I think we can probably look for a Wednesday/Thursday start to the campaign. I might want to start with a preliminary encounter before then to make sure everything will run smoothly when we start for real. But I'll forgo that if it is going to eat into my prep time too much. I'll keep you guys posted.

Hey everybody, Thanks for the add bacchist
I've been playing D&D for awhile now, I'm a big fan of 3.0 and 3.5 and have wanted to play a 4E game. I hope to get to know you all a bit better throughout our experience here.

I posted a map I made of the continent. It's my first attempt at making a map on the computer. It's got its flaws, but it should give you an idea of where things are.

Back (For a few minutes). I'll get my character sheet and stuff up later tonight.

I am interested in how we will be handling combat and dice rolls. I've actually never been in a game that you did dice rolls in a different thread, lol. Could you just give a quick explanation of what you would like to see in each combat posts? HP, AC, how you want technical details like move/standard actions formatted and so forth.

I also have a couple of questions regarding wizard play and 4E. I asked the question: Because of a wizards spellbooks, how many daily/utility spells can he cast per day? I got the answer to look at the table on page 29 of the PHB, under the catagory Total Powers Known. But Wizards get an extra Daily/Utility power every time they choose them though, and it doesn't mention anything about casting in that table. In the Penny Arcade D&D podcasts, the DM let the wizard use every daily he had. I can't find the specific rule, so I guess my question is, how many daily spells can I cast per day? Can I use both? or just 1 of the 2? When we hit level 2 and I choose 2 more utilities, can I use all 4 daily spells in one day? Or just 2 of the 4? Or we could do I can use as many daily spells as I have levels? I can't find the rule, so I leave it up to you.

Also, about Rituals. I'm still not clear on the whole "Ritual reagent cost" thing. When it says 50G by it, does that mean I have to use 50G worth of reagents every time I cast it? So it's a 50G spell? Or do I just have to posses 50G worth of re-usable reagents?

That's it for now. My character sheet is complete! yay!

Ritual Reagent: Yes, if it says 50 gp under the ritual, then that is the material components you need to buy every time...not a big fan of that myself, we burn 10 gold in my RL game every time we have to read an enemy note for Comprehend Languages :P.

Daily/Utility. I believe you only get the same amount of daily/utility powers/spells per day as the rest of us get, you just happen to be the only one that can switch out to different powers every day if you choose to do so. Nice.

ie....let's say you have daily powers called "1", "2" and "3" in your spellbook, but the chart for leveling up says you are allowed to use 2 daily powers per day. On a particular day, you get to choose to prepare spell 1 and 3, 2 and 3, or 1 and 2, and then use them. The next day, you can choose a different pair of dailys.

Of course, I could be wrong.

That sounds right with the spells. That's one thing I always hated with the spellbook though, was preparing spells. How the hell am I supposed to know what spells I'm going to want to use today? It would be cool, if someone, somewhere could just say I could use any spell in my book, without having to prepare it.

And that sucks about ritual cost too. Looks like I won't be using much of those unless we get filthy rich. We should start up a business so we have constant income, lol.

Thanks for the explanation Foggy (even though it wasn't intended for me and won't help me in this game). I've never been able to get my head round the wizard's daily spells and the rituals thing.

Most welcome. Of course, if I be wrong, I'd love to know what it actually is. .

My RL game sat night was wild. We opened a chest in a drow area last night that had 100 pp in it. We were so excited about that, considering there are so many of us in the game that previous loot wasn't that spectacular. Of course, we are unsure if our DM knew that the value of platinum went up in 4e...1100 gold each as opposed to 3.5, where it would be 110 gold each. I finally have enough to go badger the local alchemist for lessons and still have money to pay him. I think our human wizard might buy that pair of spectacles that lets you read any language so she doesn't have to keep paying that ritual cost.
