Character Creation Thread
Characters can be created using either a standard point buy method (22 points, outlined in the PHB) or dice roll (4d6 and drop the lowest). Choose wisely! If you choose the riskier dice roll method, you must accept the results regardless. Use the 3.5e tables for starting gold. Roll for it in the dice thread. When purchasing starting equipment, apply a +200% modifier to the price of heavy armor, and a +100% modifier to the cost of weapons. Gear (backpack, bedroll, torches, etc.) prices should remain the same. Just to clarify, the only thing that 3.5e will be used for is the starting gold. All the items and prices will still be from 4e, with the cost modifier from above. Last edited by bacchist; 02-02-2009 at 06:01 PM. |

Ghendur, Dragonborn Swordmage
__________________Description: Average size for a Dragonborn he strikes an imposing figure to the other races. Because of his size many underestimate his intelligence, usually at their own peril. A blade is never far from his blue scaled hand, while his silver eyes remain ever alert for danger. Personality: There is only one objective for this young Dragonborn, power. Good and evil hold no sway over Ghendur. Instead strength and fame are the only things that matter to him. To this end he goes through life trying to gain as much strength as possible. Born to a poverty stricken family he had very little given to him during his youth. Training constantly he forged himself into the perfect weapon of battle. Ghendur strikes a delicate balance between martial ability and mystical prowess. Not one to make friends easily, he does see the value of having companions until he is able to stand on his own. Background: Ghendur grew up in the magic filled city of Midmount. Skilled with the sword at a young age he soon found he could use the arcane powers around him to increase his fighting ability. As the youngest member of his family the Dragonborn sought attention, and the best way to get noticed is being powerful. He practiced daily while his kin played and enjoyed their youth. Soon he began to outshine the others but it was never enough. He was not bloodthirsty, nor would he stoop to trickery to obtain high status. Last edited by Hesstruk; 02-08-2009 at 10:36 PM. |

Ok here is my character, I used the point buy system. And as it says it was made with the official character builder from wizards, so it is legal, at least that is what it tells me LOL. I'm just waiting on starting gold so I may buy my gear, and then I'll update.

Dim Seladin
__________________Race: Gnome Class: Wizard/Cleric Multiclass Align: Pelor/Good Gender: Male Description: Dim Seladin (pronounced se la DEEN) is a fairly old Gnome at 83 years young. He has short white hair, with a full, white, long goatee. His face has just started to wrinkle around his eyes and at his smile. He stands about 3 foot 8 inches and weighs in at 75 pounds. Dim prefers dress robes with light spring colors. Personality: Dim loves two things: Pelor and books. Books about anything really, history, religion, magic, even fantasy. He's never one to shy away from a good debate, and more than half the time he's the one that starts them. He will try to use words rather than fighting, but he knows when fights cannot be avoided. He will normally try to convince someone to his way of thought, rather than use trickery or deceit. He's always one to put his hat in the ring when it comes to politics also. He uses the word of Pelor as a means for his political ends. Background: Dim was raised under the wing of his father. His father was chief advisor to the King of the declining city of Ember. He learned every political trick in the book from his dad. This also gave Dim a free key to the king's library, filled with magic tomes. The king was a collector, nothing more. He didn't even read the material he had stockpiled, but sought it to show off. Dim was more than happy to make use of the tomes and practice magic when he wasn't debating politics with his father. Much to the dismay of everyone, the king hardly listened to his advisers, and ran the place to the ground. Shortly before the rebellion, Dim was smuggled out of the city. He took as many books as he could carry and fled. He was forced by his father's will to stay out of the fight. It took only 8 days for the surfs and peasants of the dessert city to burn Ember to the ground. After that, he surveyed the destruction and ash, finding nothing of use save for some scrolls. He then wandered the dessert with the rebels, as one of them, spreading the will of Pelor. This, was years ago. Dim became a scholar, earning his marks as an educated historian at the University in Midmount. He later taught at the university for a number of years, before taking an apprenticeship to become a wizard. It was at Midmount that he studied wizardry under the tutelage of a man named Alister Martow. Alister was what you would call a wizard prodigy. He was younger than Dim by a good ten years, but saw Dim's determination and will to learn. There was much Alister could teach. Together they traveled Mirinda, as far east as they could on the mainland, all the while Dim teaching Alister the history of the land, and Alister teaching Dim the use of Magic. One day, traveling South on the road from Watling to Dary, a band of Dary Soldiers stopped them. The two were accused of being sent as magical spy's from Watling, and were taken captive after a bloody struggle. They were separated, and tortured, for what could have been years. Dim knew not the passing of time in that dungeon. Then, along came a warlock most powerful. Dim recognized the man, though scarred and changed. It was Alister, looking to break him free as well. Broken after the years they had been there, Alister sold the last thing he had left. The one thing the dungeon masters couldn't take from him. His soul. He emerged, a soul-less warlock, who had made a deal with the devil to free them from this place. His power was almost limitless, and he easily escaped with Dim following in his trail of death. Once outside the city, Alister made an offer for Dim to join him at his side once again, to become an instrument of vengeance, answerable only to the devil himself. Dim had to refuse, for he couldn't turn his back on Pelor. Pelor, his one shining light through all the dark years. Pelor who gave him strength where there was only weakness. Dim's refusal of Alister's offer angered the young warlock, who sent Dim to his death bed. All faded to black for Dim. Dim awoke, in a church of Pelor in the same city where his adventure with Alister had started, Midmount. His awakening startled many a priest who were worshiping at the temple at that time, for his body had appeared out of thin air. Renewed, and given a second chance by Pelor himself, Dim knew he had a mission to fight that which was evil. Tyrants, oppressors, evil itself, Dim knew the names of all those who must fall, some being heads of state, some being the states themselves. There was one name at the top of his list. Dim knew not whether the name was a top his list for personal reasons, or if by the will of Pelor. Alister Martow. He was to start his search for the warlock close to the last place they had done battle. After collecting a few things from the priests, he went to the library and bought books with the money the priests had given him that he thought would be helpful. Books about elemental evil, warlocks, angels and demons, and of course, some about history. He kept them in a chest that he carried with him. He also bought some traveling clothes, along with dress robes of many of his favored colors. He sought the comfort of a merchant convoy headed to Sanbarn along the southern coast. He paid his way by acting as a bard, telling many stories of old to entertain the merchants at night, keeping spirits high. He used his magic as an aid to his story telling, casting illusions to touch the senses. Until, he finally arrived. Last edited by juxtaposition; 02-07-2009 at 02:23 PM. |

Added background.
__________________ . I had already written it up before you added the setting information, but I wasn't sure if something could be substituted successfully for Greenhope. I'm thinking it's around Wesbank, but I wasn't sure how vicious that city could be.

I added a couple of setting references to Valandil's backstory.
By chance he grew up near Wesbank too, so maybe he knows Jenna? |
