Rahmun sees one beetle, but he's more concerned about what he cannot see, and so launches himself down the stair railing and lands with a thud on the landing below, his tough legs absorbing the shock as he casts his eyes about the place they were just in.

"I'm on it!" Halcyon responds as he begins to move toward the staircase. His face is slightly ashen as the excertion is likely exasperating the illness coursing through his veins.
__________________Despite that, he bounds in between Rubas and Rahmun to the stairwell. With one graceful leap, he floats down the staircase and lands on the bottom landing, tucks into a roll, and clears the stair in case anyone comes down behind him. As he springs up from his roll, he holds his sword at the ready and scans the area for the fleeing rat. Last edited by Halcyon; 02-26-2009 at 07:44 AM. |

Tun stepped carefully around large and expanding puddles of unstable, oxygen-rich insect ichor, seeking a clear view of the last bug. Halcyon and Marcan nearly dove down the stairs in pursuit of the delusional rat. Rahmun actually did dive. A remarkable feat for a fully-armored halfling. What a remarkable warrior.

With just one bug left, Rurik smiles confidently, assured that those running downstairs should make it to the rat that was escaping. The certainty of the final beetle's death does nothing to stop him feeling more invigorated, and he even lets out a dry laugh as his mordenkrad thumps against the carapace of the fire-spewing insect. "Join 'em, join all o' yer dead friends now!"

Rubas, seeing the final bug alive, attempts to kill it.

Rurik, Marcan and Tun tag team on the last bug, and with solid blows from each, the beetle has no choice but die. Marcan feels the life force tingle through himself, and decides to try something he has yet to do. Leaning forward so his head is sticking out the arrow slit, he uses his teleporting power to teleport down to the ground below so that when he reappears, he is standing right in front of the door!
__________________Meanwhile, Rubas, Rahmun and Halcyon charge down the stairs each making there own version of acrobatic attempts achieve that goal. When the made it down the stairs, they quickly scan the room but do not see any traces of the ratman. Marcan also scans inside and out and fails to see there target. OOC: Rahmun used 3 squares of movement getting down, Halcyon used 5 and Rubas used all 6. You each have your standard and minor remaining to be used. You guys get those actions, then I will give you another update telling you what happens. So that means Rurik Marcan and Tun are in stuck, having used there whole turn. Rahmun, Rubas and Halcyon gets a ‘mini round.’ So post your stuff up! Last edited by Master of Monsters; 08-12-2009 at 02:12 AM. |

Accepting that his opponent has fled from battle, Rahmun relaxes and turns around to find the others on the stairs.... apparently they took the long way. He eyes them then casually brandishes the rat master head that he's still carrying on him at Halcyon. "Don't let it be you."

Halcyon eyes the double doors to see if anything passed that way. Then he eyes the darkness below them in the lower level. Pulling his everburning torch out again, he speaks, "Burn" to set the brass orb aglow. Then, he nods to Rahmun to lead the way... who spooks him with the rat head. A fit of laughter ensues.

Rubas breaths heavily as he arrives downstairs. Obviously the rat continued downstairs since Marcan's got the door.

The three party members continue to rumble down the stairs in hot pursuit of the ratman. The all arrive down the stairs in time to see the ratman charge forward, into a small collapsed hallway. To there surprise, the ratman shifts back into his halfling form when he reaches the dead end, then squeezes into a small hole and disappears from sight.

"They'll come back." Rurik remarks to Tun. "Let's keep ye alive." Rurik carefully looks through the open doors in all directions on the floor he's on now.

Confirming that there is no one outside, Marcan turns inside, and races down the stairs. Noting that there were still voices coming down from the level above, he calls out to Rurik and Tun, "Guys, downstairs, now!". With that done, he hurries down the stairs.

Buddying for knate
Shaking his head at the dwarves concern, Tun shakily made his way to the stairs. "It's best if we stick together. We are all getting weary, and if they should come across anyone on their own...well, things could be less than fortunate!" He fingers the still-very-tender gash on his face, and Rurik is unsure as to just what "fortunate" entails...
__________________As Marcan's cry comes from below, Tun almost makes haste, but stops himself. Instead, he takes the stairs slowly, not wishing to trip and rip his outfit any more than it is. It cost a lot to make, and will probably take some serious mending to get back to its former brilliance... When he passes by the ground floor, he calls back to the dwarf "Rurik, if you want to help keep us alive, you could see to it that no one else comes in that door?" The way the cleric used the word, he clearly thought less of holding onto one's life than he did for one's appearance. But then, what would any sane man prefer? Being dead, or being ugly? There was no comparison between the two, really... |

Rurik just sighs as the others rush on, they clearly had no appreciation for solid dungeon conquering strategy - empty an area out, dig yourself in, get some rest, and go on. Grumbling, he walks on: "Ye're worried about walkin' into a trap, and so ye're rushin' into 't all the faster? Makes no sense to me, I'll guard yer backs." Rurik says as he guards the back of the party, going along with them.
