Harken Encounter 1.3

Noticing the effect his presence was having, Soleynos decides to make the most of it, moving toward the entrance. From his position of relative invisibility, he fires a curse at the second goblin, causing it, like the first, to writhe in pain (-9hp). The creature appeares to be clinging on for dear life. Lio, frustrated from his previous failure, misses the new goblin in his anger.

The third goblin thrusts its spear at the dragonborn next to him, landing a perfect strike to his chest (-10hp). Yet another goblin emerges from the darkness and sensing an opportunity, swings its sword at Patrin that cuts into his side (-5hp). Despite being on the verge of death, the second goblin fires another javelin at Elliot's direction that lodges itself in his thigh (-3hp).

Caelynna moves up close to the tiefling and fires a second bolt at the second goblin that misses high. On the other side of the room, the first goblin thrusts his spear at Eolioth for a second time and for a second time, misses.

Elliot's new target proves just as tricky as the first, escaping his attack. Patrin, on the other hand, breathes a bright flame that singes both the goblin in front of him and the one to his left. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees the second goblin fall and cease moving. Striking twice, Patrin lands a solid hit with both attempts (-14hp).

Finally, the goblin next to Eolioth tries a second short sword attack that fails.

OODMWell, Team Goblin did a bit better this round. Patrin's certainly in trouble. Eolioth proves elusive, again.

Round 3, here we come.

HP: 25/25 AC/Fort/Ref/Will: 15/11/14/15

Enboldened by the dramatic effect of his curses, Soleynos quickly scans the battlefield for a new victim. Seing that Eolioth is being rushed by two goblins after having come between the beasts and him, the Tiefling throws a curse upon the goblin that came from the shadows. Afterwards, using the connection created between the Shadowfell and the cursed creatures, Soleynos rips a part of their very soul, sending it to feed the faceless monsters from the shadows.

Lio is frustrated that his god has not allowed him to make his mark, not even a tiny scratch, on the battle at hand. Fortunately his companions have been faring better and, even more fortunately for him, the goblins have been unable to get near him. He does not wish to ride his luck any further, however, so he decides to try something else.

The light blue energy lines which mark his skin can be seen to pulse for a few seconds before the Genasi whirls around in a blur with his sword flashing at the two goblins flanking him.

After seeing his last foe, that he missed, be blown away in a burst of lightning. Elliot sees that his Dragonborn companion has been bloodied by the Goblins and moves to assist. Elliot singles out one of the foes engaged in combat. Elliot forces a small portion of his will towards the sword weilding goblin then advances to attack.

Soleynos moves quickly to help his comrade. After cursing the smaller beast, he releases a sweeping curse that severely damages both of the engaged creatures (B1-13hp, W1-10hp). At that moment, Lio swings a now-blue sword at the same goblins, striking the first (-8hp) but missing the second. The struck goblin falls and shudders before dying.

The third goblin, across the room, strikes again at the dragonborn standing in front of him. Another direct hit causes blood to spatter upon the ground (-9hp). Similarly, the goblin to Patrin's right merely swings its short sword again and Patrin falls, dying (-4hp).

Angered by their team tactics, Caelynna fires a dark blast of necrotic energy in the direction of the fray, but in her hurry, misses the intended target. The goblin standing in front of Eolioth, despite having stumbled because of the tiefling's curse, rises and jabs at Lio with its spear (-4hp).

In his hurry to help the dragonborn, Elliot rushes past one of the goblins. It swings its sword in an attempt to prevent the paladin's progress, but in its excitement over the fallen dragonborn, misses terribly. After challenging the creature, Elliot swings his own sword in response, tearing into the goblin's side (-6hp).

OODMQuick reminder: don't edit posts with rolls.

I wasn't sure if B2 was going to get an opportunity attack for Elliot's move, so I added it anyway. Fortunately, it was a miss. Was I correct in my assumption that it would? Why / why not?

galadan88, I added the extra damage from Warlock's Curse that wasn't in your post. Congrats, it enabled Lio to kill B1.

I'm going to need a bunch of help with Patrin dying, because I don't understand really how this works. I've checked the books, but it really doesn't make sense to me. Hopefully, one of you more experienced players can help out.

Also, with that, before we continue, Bookfiend is going to need to redo Patrin's turn, since he wouldn't be able to accomplish what's posted in his current state (and unfortunate, too; it was excellent). Again, I don't really understand what needs to happen, so help would be appreciated.

The death of the cursed beasts fill Soleynos with a small amount of glee and... something darker too. Knowing the goblins pose no threat to him when he is surrounded by shadows, the Tiefling slowly stalks around the next little bugger on his list, hoping to finish the bleeding creature so Lio can go and help Pat more usefully than he himself could anyways. When he reaches an opportune spot, Soleynos unleashes yet another curse.

"Patrin's fallen, brothers!" cries out the Moon Elf. She slides forward towards the table, keeping her wand aiming towards the goblins responsible for knocking down the mighty Dragonborn. With a shrill cry, another silvery bolt flies forward towards the one not already engaged with Elliot. Just in case the little villian attempts to close on her, she very deftly unsheaths her longsword with her left hand. Brandishing the gleaming, well-kept elven sword, she looks angrily to the pair of goblins.

"Hang on in there, Patrin! Help is at hand!" the Genasi shouts at his fallen companion, hoping his senses are sufficiently alert to respond and be stimulated by Lio's encouragement. Angered by this setback, the swordmage twirls his longsword, the blade becoming almost one with his body, and thrusts it towards the goblin facing him. The sword glows with a brilliant green light as it heads towards the enemy creature.
