TOTAL - HP - TEMP - INVIGORATING 31 - 22/25 - 3 - 6 Now this is just an example of a battlerager who has been hit once for 3 dmg. After that hit he gets 2 temp hp. Afterwards he strikes 2 times in a row using a power with the invigorating keyword, which brings his total hp to 31 (we are assuming this character has a +3 cons mod). Now if this character was to be hit again for 12dmg, he would first lose the temp and invig HPs (9) and an additional 3 (real) HPs. He would then get back 3 temp hp. TOTAL - HP - TEMP - INVIGORATING 22 - 19/25 - 3 - 0 I don't know how much this demonstration helps but it worked fine for me (I did this with excel with all the different kind of hit points in tidy little columns, which helps visually a whole lot. |

Yes, the temp hp i get from invigorating powers stack but the thp I get from being hit can't go past 3 but that can be destroyed and for sake of argument we will always assume that that 3 hp are the base 3 so I will only take the 3 extra thp from being hit when I loose all my thp.

I'd like to know what everyone else would think of Elliot becoming a Cleric? It would mean a slight loss in our offensive power, but I think it would pay off in spades for us on the defense side. I'm thinking of building him as a Wisdom based cleric and not changing much in the background area.
The only other options I see for us as being feasible is for Patrin to become a Dborn Warlord (to preserve our martial power source character) or maybe Lio to switch to a Bard or Warlord. Personally I think Elliot is the best choice to retrain. What do you guys think? (I do enjoy playing Elliot as a Paladin alot but I also want to help the team as much as possible.) |

I think, in the long term, a cleric would far outweigh a warlord as far as our defensive needs are concerned.
All in all, I'd say whoever feels the most comfortable with switching things around would be the best choice. If that's Zeppo, that'd be fine. I think Elliot would work well as a Leader as opposed to a Defender. On the plus side, if you wanted, there's always the option of picking up the Multiclass feat later on. So, if you're comfortable with the idea of being a cleric instead, I wholeheartedly approve.

Zeppo007, I'm all for it. Especially because it means we can keep the group the way it is and I can focus on DMing.
-a EDIT: Everything for the next encounter'll be up by the time normal people are awake. Last edited by abcradit; 03-17-2009 at 05:54 AM. |

I think Elliot as cleric makes a lot of sense, although I'd have no problems changing Lio to Warlord (or, undergoing a change of race, making him become a cleric himself).

maybe we could make a front line with you defenders while silverlake and I point our wand sticks towards the door. Pat can ready a throwing axe too, just so we are prepared to act fast, even though we won't have a surprise round.

Ok so I shall roll up a Cleric (keeping him very close to Elliot in as many ways possible and have him ready to be transferred to Myth-Weavers as soon as it's back up)
Also I like Galadan's plan maybe Elliot and Lio can open the doors while Pat, Sol, and Cael ready some ranged attacks. Also since we've finished 2 encounters remember to add an action point for a milestone to your Character sheet that is if the DM is using milestone rewards. Also can we get an XP and treasure report from the DM from our last encounter. Last edited by Zeppo007; 03-17-2009 at 01:20 PM. |

Milestone rewards are definitely in effect. As for XP, you're each taking 80xp for that encounter. You can have a treasure report if and when your characters search the room or do anything else that would reveal the room's secrets.

I am jealous. I pre-ordered mine and it doesn't arrive until Thursday. I thought these places were supposed to deliver on release day? Damn you, Barnes and Noble.

I like that plan a front line just out of the corridor or doors out and charge out and wreak havoc every where and give no mercy.

Ok, so wow, you guys are getting absolutely crushed. In the likely event that everyone dies in this encounter, what I'd like to do is start from the beginning of our campaign with the re-done characters.
You can make further edits to your character if you'd like, but more importantly, we're going to change some things in the way we run combat, to include some advice I've received from galadan88 and others. One important change is going to be an initiative thread. I'm sorry; I hope no one is upset with the way I've been running things thus far. I also hope no one is too frustrated with the idea of starting from the beginning again. Hopefully, we'll streamline some stuff and make it a little easier on you guys. There'll be more details on everything we're going to do after this encounter. From there, we'll re-do the tavern meeting. Maybe it'll go a little differently this time and then we'll play a new starter / tester adventure (either one from the Dungeon Delve since I finally got it or Kobold Hall) and make sure everything is good to go. Please let me know your thoughts and opinions, positive or negative. -a Last edited by abcradit; 03-18-2009 at 11:23 AM. |

So thus far, I've come up with two things that I want to change for the second attempt at this:
(1) We're going to do a dicerolling thread and have posts work in a similar fashion to the way galadan88 described in the OOC thread. There'll be some minor changes to it, but look to that for now. There are a few reasons for this one: (a) I'm getting bored and overdrawn trying to come up with creative ways to explain everything. (b) The more I play, the more I want this to be a story that we all contribute to writing (like the D&D creators claim). We can't do that if I'm summarizing everything. (c) I'm going to try and have my cake and eat it too, in terms of D&D feel, without the dice in the actual game thread. (2) Maps will now be hand-drawn and scanned and each will contain the location grid, which will be alpha-numeric. Two reasons here: (a) It's getting to be burdensome to do it digitally, with area attacks and the like. (b) I don't like the confusion that's currently happening over location. --- When you guys respond to this post, please include three things: (1) Opinions / comments regarding the idea of starting over. (2) Other things you'd like to see happen for the second attempt. (3) Your vote for the next starter / tester adventure: (a) Re-attempt the Harken encounter we just played. (b) Dungeon Delve with DM edits. (c) Kobold Hall. (d) Some of the Loudwater shenanigans in the FR Campaign guide. -a |
