The Forge of Fury
The meal is rather fanciful, given the living quarters. You can all see the courtyard from the windows in your rooms. The Baron sits at a table with two men dressed in black noble's garb. In your room is a small makeshift tub, with a small pull string above it. The water coming from the spout hanging from the ceiling is rather refreshing, and warm enough to be enjoyable for washing. I have a short shower, (a good hour before the pathetic and lazy help make it of thier butts for the wakeup call) and have all my armor and weapons donned for the coming trek. Looing through my backpck to check no mice (or lightfingered persons) have removed anything imporant (and inspecting my rations for tampering) I feel prepared to go.
Hearing the help outside her door almost made me wish I had slept in a barn. *Bloody bowing and scraping all the time, not to mention lazy when no-ones looking... They should get real jobs, or try facing a village of goblins with substandard help...* Resisting the urge to reject this meal on principle, I decide its better to save my rations for when I need them, rather than eating them out of spite. Finishing quicly, I leave, setting off to see if the Baron had any final words of wisdom... And to see if my new "friends" were even ready at this hour, or if they had in fact the hangovers I had predicted. *Probably only the dwarf will be feeling normal this morning... And I wonder if that mage is as poor now as I think?* Arriving in the courtyard, I nod my head in respect, and proceed to sit where it seems appropriate. "How long do you really expect this to take Baron? And will you supply us with horse and cart to bring back the blades we recover? If it as you described, we might need help transporting such weapons, and it would make it for quicker for us to get there also, meaning less time to wait. We could have it done quite quickly and efficiently if we were supplied with transport" I relax and wait for his reply, and the appearance of my fellows. Rinnah winces as the servants bang on the door and the noise echo's through her body. *Maybe I shouldnt have had those last two drinks.* Slowly she rose from the bed before standing in the tub and letting the water from above wash over her then getting dressed before finally looking around the room for her gloves. *Damn I know I was wearing them last night and I'm pretty sure i didn't get drunk enough to take them off in public... no way I'm facing anyone without them.
When she picks up her meal she then walks over to the window to eat picking lightly at it and tossing aside the things she doesn't like the look of before seeing the stuck up elf from the night before come striding out already. *I wonder if I can hit her from here with some of this then again the baron probably wouldn't like it and I owe him for picking up the tab last night at least. Better go down now before its too late I guess.* She finally arrives yawning widely and sits lightly on the floor to one side nodding to those that arrived before her and waits to hear why they aren't leaving already to get this over with. |

The Dwarf had already been up looking and inspecting his gear, more so his armor and weapon, making sure they were in prime condition. After that he went to bathe, making sure to get the stink of stale ale out of his beard. After he was clean, he took the extra few minutes to make sure his beard was neatly kept before hearing the knock on the door. Graciously he opened the door after donning his armor and took the food that had been left for him.
__________________It was only moments later the food was gone and he was on his way out to the courtyard where he knew his new companions would be waiting. Walking outside he winced a little as the early sun hit his eyes. He looked at the baron and bowed his head, then looked to the elf woman and nods. Soon his attention was turned to the halfling. " How's 'ur head wee one? Ya drank alot las' night. Thanks to tha Baron 'ere. You'll get use to eh." He smirked as he patted her shoulder before looking at the baron. "Sorry teh keep yuh waiten sir. I'd say les go, but I dunny see our other elf. Hope we dun have teh be lookin after the booth them the whole tiem." He mused looking from left to right for the other elf. |

After leaving the tavern, Anthas spent the rest of the night preparing his spells for the upcoming journey. Before departing on his quest, the elf mage's master had taught him a new spell that had been giving him trouble. After long hours of study, Anthas was finally satisfied that he had all of the proper inflictions and hand motions mastered; Anthas gather his gear and headed out.

" Ah there he is." The dwarf said looking at the elf joining them.
__________________"Now good Baron, tha we have our little troupe t'gether, Could ya tell us what we're gonna be doin, or impart us with yur wisdom. " The dwarf crossed his arms and awaited the barons words. Thus far he had taken the roll of the parties leader as the Elf woman was too stuck up, the halfling was hungover, and the elf man was late. So That left him in his mind the most deserving candidate. |

The Baron reaches in his robe and pulls out a large, rolled up piece of parchment... "This will aid you in finding the old dwarf stronghold." The baron leans back in his chair and pulls out a rather ornate pipe. "I've no expectation of time, just be sure the job gets done. There have been a few parties to venture out, and none come back. My scouts have said the area is now inhabited by orcs and ghosts..." He eyes the stout dwarf intently... "All of the dwarven natives have been snuffed out, it would seem."
__________________"I will give the lot of you 500 gold pieces for each blade you return bearing the mark of Durgeddin the Black. You will find a small hill some distance from here. The Stone Tooth is what my men have come to call it." He waves his hand, and one of the cohorts in black pulls a broken blade from his cloak... it bears an odd emblem etched in the lower half of the blade. "This is the symbol you shall search for... return only if your group is successful." The baron leaves the map and blade behind on the table, and leaves without awaiting questions. The two men bow to the group as they follow the Baron out of the courtyard. |

With a sigh, I pick up the blade and quickly memorise the markings... they were obvious enough, and I wouldnt need to crry this to compare it to. Figuring someone else would complin if I took the blade and map, I look at the map quickly, to get a heading, and stride off in that direction... Not too quickly, but I see no reason to grow old waiting, and we could talk on the road.
Not looking over my shoulder to see if they are following, I begin to hum a marching song I enjoyed. I didnt want to be the leader here... Let someone else be the leader.... I just want to get there... Village life is so boring! |

Studying the blade; Dulok admires it before looking at the halfling and other elf left.
__________________"Well princess 'as already started, so I sey we get moving as to not keep'er waitin." With that he began in a steady stride in the direction the elf was going. A thought lingered on his mind however. If all of the dwarves had been snuffed out, then those ghosts could very well be the remains of the dwarves. This did not sit well with him at all. The orcs on the other hand, would not be a problem. Last edited by IrishKatt; 03-28-2009 at 01:57 PM. |

Rinnah nods before getting up and following Dulok
You know if she keeps insisting on rushing off alone and that I don't think she will make it back. Either of you fancy a bet on how long it is before she gets the arrogance knocked out of her?." She starts jogging to keep up with her new companion praying that they won't have to keep up this pace for long. Last edited by sharim; 03-28-2009 at 06:36 AM. |

Anthas bids the Baron farwell, who is no longer there to here it, but it is the thought that counts anyway. Looking back from the baron's direction, the elf mage is astonished to see that everybody is already heading out. Hmmm, with such a motivated group we will be arriving at stone tooth in no time.

Dulok smirks at the halfling as he pats the flat side of his axe quietly.

As you travel, you pass through brooding pine forests and deep vales several days’ travel north of the mining town of Blasingdell.
__________________From where you stand now, you catch sight of a tall, steep hill that rises to a prominent bare knob of rock—the Stone Tooth. A thin spire of smoke rises from some unseen point high on the hill’s slopes, and you can make out a steep, narrow road or track that runs back and forth across the face of the mountainside. The flat area you are in now seems like a decent resting point, nice shade and dense bush nearby provides some relaxing surrounding. |

"We could press on, it cant be too much further if we can see it..." I look around at the clearing, seeing it IS a good resting spot, but why wait here when we could rest there? It might be dangerous, but logic dictates it could be just as dangerous here, since we are so close. I want to be cautious, but either way will be hazardous... "This is a nice spot, but we could be ambushed. I think making camp closer makes more sense, we can find more open ground up on the hill. They will find it hard to ambush us there, even if it does make us easier to see."
Looking around at my companions faces, I wait for thier replies. Last edited by xenavire; 03-30-2009 at 12:22 AM. |
