Oh yeah, you never got back to me about the metamagic variant sorcerer from PH2.
I asked in the app thread and you said you'd think about it later. Would it be okay? Also, are the complete series ok for choosing feats, since my pretige class is from one. And do we reroll 1s on hit dice? *goes to think of yet more questions to bug blak with* Last edited by DiabolicalGenius; 05-01-2009 at 08:12 PM. |

I'm working on it, but this is tricky for the people playing nobles.
It seems we don't have to buy property and furnishing with our starting gold. But what about stuff like food and supplies. Is it alright to assume that my character will have all the daily needs seen to from her estate? Also, for example I'm including a horses and a carriage in my equipment. But do I need to worry about feed and the like? It's a question of knowing just how far being rich and powerful will go. Do we just need to pay for magic items, armour and weapons and such? Should I include paying for a whole bunch of noble outfits for her wardrobe? It's kinda confusing. |

To clarify, the nobles have inherited their holdings. Basic food and drink levels to sustain the manor are taken care of, but parties and such will have to be paid for (Since parties are great places to earn influence and such, they're kind of important). Just because the actual running of your holdings are taken care of by your servants/staff, you get to foot the bill. Translation: Start-up is taken care of but actually making it work is on you. I'll simplify it for ease of playing, I don't want the nobles to be focusing solely on running their estates. Your head servant will take care of it, and present you with a bill.
Gotta play for clothing, equipment, etc. Anything that doesn't go with the estate or station has to be paid for. Now, for the Hivers. Your "property" is safe-houses, and stakes in taverns and such. You get a safe-house. Small, as in a couple of rooms. Also, the Hiver demands price for contacts. You're of sufficient level to make people know about you. Word gets out. Most of the knowledge is half-rumors and speculation, and there are a couple of people more powerful than you that are strait-up legends; people that are just that powerful. The true value of the Hive side of things is the freedom to move around. People aren't always looking at you and speculating, you don't have to watch your actions as much. Of course, going out and slaughtering a tavern's worth of people cause you feel like it is not the one you want. So, common sense dictates. |

Alright, I think I can work with that. I am wondering though, if the nobles are going to be paying for things like partys and the like, then how do we make gold in the first place if not from their lands?
Should I be saving a few thousand gold pieces for that sort of thing? |

yes, but remember you have legitamate and not so legitamate businesses which will be giving gold on either a weekly or monthly basis. Income will come from that for the nobles, for Hivers, you'll get it by pulling contracts and looting people. Or just straight-up old fashioned larceny. As soon as character sheets are in, the epic plot, setting, character hooks, etc. will be going up.

Alright. My sheet is done, and the property is up. I just put down whatever I thought the duchess would have. If you think any of it is unsuitable or excessive let me know and I'll edit it.

Uhm... I've been working on my character sheet, but I'm wondering: when you say re-roll 1's for ability scores, do you mean re-roll ALL 1's or only the ones that count towards our scores. That is, if i were to roll "1, 5, 1, 6" would I reroll both 1's, or just one of them, since I'm only using the 3 highest rolls anyways? Heh, maybe I'm just making things complicated here, but I'm fairly sure I've seen people doing both of those, and it does make a difference...

I think you're just over-complicating things, Remiel
