Hello all, good to be playing with you all. Stopped in to start up conversation on a shared background as was mentioned in raven's PM. For my part, my character (Delris) is pretty flexible in terms of fitting in somewhere. I left most of my early adventuring life fairly open. But I did mention that most of my exploits where contained in the north, so I figure his travels would have taken him anywhere as far as Bryn Shander to as far south as Baldur's Gate. Take of that what you will, a Calimshite born and raised Half-Elf in the north is bound to stick out a lil bit.

Does any of that happen to coincide with anyone else?

Hello all,

Should be a fun group, and am looking forward to playing with everyone.

Along the background lines, my character, Garum (Dragonborn Barbarian), was exiled at a young age and tasked with 'developing his heritage' and becoming independent. He would have travelled much on his own and certainly would have loved the idea of challenging himself in the north. He met up with other adventurers where there skills complemented his or his were lacking. He could have met up with Delris in Bryn Shander and become fast companions, enjoying one another's company and sense of adventure.

Hmm mayhaps, I was a bit unsure as how he truly intended. My assumption was that he meant for us to find like links in our background to form a background to an Adventuring company of sorts. Maybe will need more insight on the meaning of it?

@ Nes. Er, I don't believe we necessarily were servants of the Raven Queen. Especially since she doesn't exist on Faerun. That was another game. We were supposed to have a bit of a group background(encompassing why we're all adventuring *together*) though.

As for me. Looks like I'm a "Warforged" Warden. Once a golem for a powerful wizard who died during the Spellplague. Since then he became inactive and has been for several decades. Recently a spirit took an interest in him and gave him some semblance of life. Since *then* he's been wandering pretty much everywhere trying to experience 'life'. Assuming that you guys don't cause much trouble for nature he would likely get along well with you.

He once served a wizard so it's possible he now looks to Delris as a (sortof) master. Free will is hard to get used to. May take some time before he starts to consider himself more than a wizard's servant(even with the possible conflicts that come from it). Now how Delris likes having a 'Stone golem/warforged' following him... that could provide some interesting stuff.

Exactly, barelyundead. I want the group to be an established adventuring company that has made somewhat of a name for themselves. Yall don't necessarily to be together since level one or anything but a few levels at least.

How about this.... yall met in Waterdeep somehow say about a year, or so, ago and since than you have made said name for yourself up the Sword Coast, all the way to Silverymoon. If you want deeper relationships go for it. Just glaze over some stuff you have done together and lets work on that name

My intent here is to give yall some latitude with regard to your characters, not to be lazy or nuttin

From the information you posted in your advertisement, it didn't seem like we were going to be an adventuring company at all, so, now I'm a bit hard pressed to find a way to mesh what I've envisioned my character as into whatever situation it takes to make her a part of some adventuring company. I don't know if the other player's may have the same problem, but, I didn't create Shara as a big adventurer; she's a slightly reclusive tree-hugger....

There is always a way, as it were. Perhaps the rest of the group passes through wherever you are and for some reason you decided to join them. You can be a late comer or new addition to the group, perhaps as a replacement to a lost member or something.

Is it possible she's taken her motherly ways to the group? Possibly through coincidence they met, and she instantly took to one or all of them.

I'm fine with the Waterdeep background. I see a fun side plot already with my character's heritage of being very proud and self-reliant with LoveBug's servant construct, 'Stone'. It will vex him to no end that Stone does not see himself as his own master.
Thus far it doesn't look like the natural aspect will be an issue - two nature lovers, a nomadic barbarian, and a wizard smart enough to not piss off his companions.

Nesmederal - your character's background has her living and centred around the Glimmerwoods (did I get that right?). I suggest that our group did some work with you in the past to help fend off some band of marauding baddies and got along really well. She may have travelled around with us for a bit but was drawn back to her forest home. We are either accompanying you back, or were 'in the neighbourhood' and thought we'd stop by for a visit when we hear about the problem with the goblins.

merging background suggestion Actually, to tie in Shara and 'Stone', when we joined up to deal with the problems in the Glimmerwood, as per an earlier suggestion, we could have stumbled across the abandoned tower in which Stone was housed, and an aspect of Shara's nature spirit could have infused Stone with his newfound existence. Delris could have completed the transformation to life with some arcane ritual. This would tie in the backgrounds nicely, explain Stone's penchant for the natural world, and Shara's motherly attitude towards the group - or at least towards Stone. And Stone might feel bound to the group as a whole as his 'family' or masters.

As for group name/vision: From the background posts, Delris has the clearest ideological vision - reducing pain and suffering. This is sufficient for my character, who's goal is to develop himself while pursuing a path of righteousness. Not sure who the other players are yet, but could pick a group name after that. Maybe from a successful mission, or battle? For example, the Sixth Banner, named after the group's involvement with the Bryn Shander militia. We were staying in the town when word came of an oncoming orc horde. A hastily put together militia was sent out to cut the horde off at a strategic pass, and buy the town time to build up a proper defence and army. Our group took command of the militia and carried with us the military pendant of a well-known crack unit, the Sixth regiment. We managed to break the rush of the horde and buy enough time for the town's militia to form up and beat the horde back. As a momento, we now carry a battle pendant around with us. (Flying by the seat of my pants here) Or some nature-based theme works for me...

Nature-y theme might make sense since 3 of 4 characters(do we have more people coming?) are Primal.

Just edited previous post to tie in backgrounds more smoothly. Ought to work. The group name could either stem from an earlier adventure, or a more primal-specific one could be created. Oh, and thanks for the XP. Cheers!
