Ok, still waiting on Dan's move for James.

I spoke with Phil just a moment ago and among other things, he said that Erik will fire at the maid. Erik does know that it was the maid exerting the confuse power over him. I didn't narrate it (sorry), however as a general comment, all demon powers are highly obvious when being used. Pairing their usage with Cloak may be an exception, however I am not certain of this. Base case is that it will be noticeable.

I missed the maid's action from the list below. She wants to create darkness around the doorway using her 'Shadow' ability. If she gets it in first, it will give negatives to Eric's pistol attack.

Cecile's attack against Montague is a stamina roll (2 dice), +1 dice for the 'Boom!' quip while announcing the task, but -1 for the generic 'Cecile will pull the trigger' (but feel free to revise /expand if you want the extra die!), +3 dice for successful aiming last round, -2 dice for no experience with guns. You can also call upon the co-ordinated score description for another die. Total is 4 dice or 5 if you want to put a bit more meat on the description of the action (what are you aiming at, what are you trying to achieve, etc etc)...

Once again, Erik gets to roll cover first and then carry over any successes into has actual roll. So it's 4 dice for cover against 3 difficulty dice (snap shot + new target).
Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
3d10: 6, 5, 4Total = 15

Any successes from that roll add extra dice to his stamina roll (6 dice). Modifiers are +1 die for battle-trained score descriptor, +1 for roleplaying/the quip (though marginal!), -1 for his price of 'hot-tempered'. Total is 7 + successes from the cover roll +2 additional dice for initiative purposes only. Let's say these will be the last two rolled, and will affect the order in which Erik acts but will be removed for purposes of determining success of the action.

Just waiting on James and we can move ahead to resolution. Phil and Sean, feel free to roll.

That's 2 successes for cover and now 7 dice for the shot - I'll roll the +2 dice themselves to make it clear

Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
7d10: 10, 10, 10, 5, 1, 7, 7Total = 50

And for initiative only +2

Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
2d10: 6, 9Total = 15

James' face is an ugly mask of rage and hate as he fluidly avoids Durant's blow and turns defence to attack. Static charges arc fitfully about his gloves and seem to reach out to the lawyer's weapon-come-lightning rod.

"You would play in the storm, fool? he shrieks. "Come then, taste it!" The power is released from the demonic source in a sizzling crack that burns an afterimage in the sight of observers and fills the room with a stench of ozone.

OOCStamina +1 for quickness = 5 dice. I'll roll another two to account for any bonuses you may grant. Note that James' target is Durant, though he wishes to take advantage of that nice conducting knife if it's opportune.

Cecile's lip quirks as she visualises Montague's greed-filled heart exploding.
Boom! says Cecile.
Her hand convulses.
Boom! says the gun.

James had a total success defending against Durant's attack last round, so, given that they are in close combat, I'll allow him to roll the three successes into dice for this round's attack.

Accordingly:

9,8,10 = Stamina + 1 dice for quickness
3,4 = 2 initiative dice for fast
3,7 = additional two dice already rolled by James.

1 more to roll:

I calculate differently, let me know if I'm getting it wrong:
James' Stamina is 4, +1 for quickness is 5 dice: 9, 8, 10, 3, 4
An extra 2 for initiative only: 3, 7
3 extra for success last round: 5, plus two more:

Up to two more if I get anything for roleplay or creative use of powers:
Dice Roll:

2d10: 6, 8Total = 14

Apologies, I was looking at the wrong character sheet (Williams) and read Stamina as 3 and demon power as 4 (affecting fast).

I thought you had (correctly) factored in demon’s power for rolling initiative and arrived at 4 dice total.

Then I rolled it wrongly anyway, applying 2 dice for fast not just one. :rolleyes

James’ stamina is actually 4 and Arys’ power is 7, which gives James +3 dice to his initiative roll.
I should also have given you at least +1 die for roleplaying. Your description is pretty cool however so I’ll give you +2.

I’m happy to use it as written by you, adding one more die for initiative:

Stamina roll (4d), +1 for quickness, +3 for last round successess, +2 for roleplaying = 9,8,10,3,4,5,7,8,6,8
3 dice for initiative: 3,7 + the outcome of this roll:
Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
d10: 5

Phew! That’s a lot of dice.

hmmm, I think I need to roll my 1 die passive defence against Monty

Vs a 1, this shouldn't be too difficult...

The maid drops her efforts to summon darkness and with a shriek, tries to take cover behind one of the nearby servants. Active defense +1 for roleplaying:
Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
5d10: 10, 2, 1, 5, 3Total = 21

The Jackal demon's claws burn bright with demonic blood as they slice into Edward's exposed thighs, shredding his carefully pressed suit pants. Edward valiantly seeks to maintain its focus as it attempts to called upon its 'Big' power. Passive defense +1 for roleplaying.
Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
2d10: 2, 8Total = 10

The knife demon uses its powers to coat its blade with deadly poison.

James' lightning arcs towards Durant. Durant sneers in disdain and pursues his stabbing attack with the knife attack regardless. Passive defence:
Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
d10: 8

Tuck's claws dig deep into Montague's face, for the second time. Montague is still reeling from Tuck's last attack but tries valiantly to suck up yet another attack.
Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
d10: 6

The shadowy demon glides silently through the room and takes up position near Tuck (and Montague).

Cecile shoots at the beleaguered Montague. Montague defends again.
Dice Roll:
(as this is an older post, these rolls are interpreted by the older (more basic) dice roller code)
d10: 2

ZIm's boost stamina effect kicks in for Erik. Erik's stamina get a +8 bonus (i..e 14 stamina for next round only).

Edward's big is finally activated.

(Assuming he is still standing) Montague throws his Psychic Force at Cecile however she deflects it with a casual air of indifference.

OOCI know I am mixing up the rules here..
e.g.
I haven't previously added roleplaying bonuses to NPC actions.
I'm not sure whether passive defence can attract roleplaying or other bonuses to the 1 die on offer. Or indeed, whether previous successes roll into passive defence efforts.

I hope to iron out all of these uncertainties by the time we settle down to play the main game.
