[Game Thread] Act 1 - Snakes, snakes and more snakes

[Tendolhorse]

Derran watches as rats swarm out of the forest. Quickly, he scans them to see if they are attacking or running.

He then lifts up his symbol and attempts to sear the snakes with light once more.

"Someone blast those rats!" Acanthas runs behind the Semmi to attack the bear from its rear. "Semmi - that's your name right? Watch the bear and keep him from moving!" The eladrin then plunges the tip of his glaive towards the bear's hind leg.

 

Move: Move to C07.
Standard: Viper's Strike (0). Glaive has reach. 17 vs AC. 6 damage.
Effect: If the target shifts before the start of your next turn, it provokes an opportunity attack from an ally of your choice (Semmi).

[Bizelplyx]

Semmi attacks the bear with a nimble thrust of the blade, the bear dripping with blood, brushes a paw along its eyes, his fur soaking the blood. The dagger in his eye falls to the ground allowing him to see with his good eye dodges the oncoming attack.

Acanthas moves closer to the rogue and yells for the halfling to watch out for his glaive as he thrust it towards the bear, just missing the bears other hind quarter.

Derran says another pray to his god holding his symbol outward. The light burst forth missing its target hitting the ground. The patch of grass glows briefly before it dissipates. After carefully examine the rats you can make out differences. Rat 4 and 7 are Dire Rats and the others are Giant Rats.

The rats advance towards the bear smelling fresh blood. The 3 in the front with in reach of the bear start to feast upon there newly found prey. None of the giant rats seem to make contact with the flailing bear as it growls with agony.

Hikio holsters his pistol and grabs his trident moving into range of the bear where he swings with all his might missing the bear.

Gladys once again takes an arrow from her quiver. Takes careful aim. Fire directly at the bear. Another arrow sinks into the bear. The bear wants to run for the forest but sees it is blocked by the rats and stands on his hind legs ready to attack the rats.

The horses are becoming agitated again from the new intruders .

Sol in a Valliant attempt runs toward the collective of rats and spews flames from his mouth engulfing all the rats, bear and snakes. Rat 5 and rat 6 burst into flames and shrivel up in a burning heap. The other rats though singed seemed un effected. Sol then swings his scimitar missing rat 4.




Bear and Snakes go first

The bear wanting to get away, in an outright frenzy attack starting with rat 5. He slashes all around, hitting rat 5 which falls and dies. Hitting rat 4, the snakes, (dead), Semmi and Hikio. The bear misses Derran as it tumbles to the ground thrashing about breaking any and all arrows in it's body.

DM Note So we can try to get everyone to post each day. Post in any order I will sort things out to the initiative order. If you move to go toe to toe with monsters then I will adjust your move accordingly if monsters move. (I want to give this a try. If to many issues arise we I will put all monsters together in one init roll and NPC's will go last.)

Semmi's Round

"Ooo boy. This is certainly one helluva bear. Good thing he's killed a bunch of those damned rats, though."
Trying again, Semmi attempts to strike the bear into submission.

Sneak Attack damage of 9.
Also, if an attack hits Semmi, he's going to use his racial, Second Chance: When an attack hits you, force an enemy to roll the attack again. The enemy uses the second roll, even if it’s lower.

Seeing Hikio's health wavering S'ol attempts to slay the rat remaining in his way.
Feeling his foe vanquished S'ol bounds toward Hikio laying his hands on him as he says

Hikio growled as he was hit yet again. However, since he saw the bear on the ground in pain, and since he felt his fellow Dragonborn heal his newly made wounds, Being reminded that the paladin was watching, He sighed softly "I think that's enough." He said as he stood up and went to the bear's side. "Killing a opponent on the ground is shameful. At least let it live." He then saw Semmi's attack and growled "WHAT DID I JUST SAY!

"You need to take advantage of any opportunity you are given. You enemies will not hesitate to exploit every possible advantage they have against you. Besides, this bear will die anyway - if it doesn't bleed out, another creature will prey on its weakened state. If anything, the humane thing to do now, is to end its life." Acanthas turns from the dragonborn and to the bear. Gripping the glaive with both hands with the tip facing down, he plunges the the blade down towards the bears chest.

Standard: Basic attack (0). Glaive has reach. 17 (19 after combat advantage) vs AC. 10 damage.

[Bizelplyx]

Sol seeing that the other dragonborn is injured makes a quick attack toward the rats in front of him. He misses as he started to move to the aid of his golden comrade. The rat takes the opportunity to attack the fleeing Paladin and scores a bite to the leg. Quickly touching the golden dragonborn, his hand glows thus healing all of Hikio's wounds . Only then does S'ol realize his leg is bleeding with puss forming. (on your next turn you need to make a save DC16 or suffer the effects of the second stage)

Hikio is upset at the bear being decimated, he kneels to comfort the bear. The bear is crazed, bloody, thrashing about.

Semmi thrust his short sword into the bear letting it sink into its flesh twisting the blade deeper. Hikio looks the halfling in the eye with a snarled growl "WHAT DID I JUST SAY!" The bear thrashes out at Hikio. The bears claws cut deeply into the golden dragonborn's chest, knocking him to the ground prone.

Acanthas moves to attack the bear to put it out of its misery takes his glaive in both hands thrusting downward just missing the bear as it rolls to one side.

Gladys notes the horse agitated, trotting back in forth in place. She quickly takes an arrow from the quiver, loads and shoots at the bear. The bear isn't thrashing about anymore. Its breath becoming very heavy, yet still it lives.

The horse isn't happy being attached to a wagon with the bear, snakes and rats around, it uneasiness is escalating.

The rats attack

Rat no seven bites at the bear but the bear rolls over thus the rat misses.
Rat no. 4 attacks Hikio biting him while he is down speading ots infection.
Rat no. 8 attacks Hikio too, only just missing its dinner.

Bear Attack

The bear struggling to get to its feet stands then lashes out at rat no. 7 hitting it with its bloody paw.

A man emerges from the edge of the forest on the far side of the road. In the moonlight you can see he is dressed in pants, shirt and a cloak. you may notice glints of light from his hands.

[Craftyman]

The dark figure emerges out of the woods hearing the skirmish. He was holding a staff at his right side that was emanating a bright light illuminating 4 squares around him that could be seen as he slipped out behind some trees. His royal blue silk-like cloak was reflecting light from his staff as where the golden trim surrounding the edges. His brown eyes quickly survived the battle, seeing the wagon off to the side and the wild beasts attacking the warriors up front it was quit clear to him what had happened.

" Ho' there, it appears you may need some assistance!" The man allows his fingers of his left hand to slide down his long grew goatee. He makes his way casually toward the wagon, keeping an eye out for any more animals that may be hiding in the area.

Deciding it would not harm to help he lifted his left hand flaring his fingers 4 rings on each finger glew a soft red before a red orb of flame appeared in his hand. He allowed it levitate over his palm for a moment before it vanished. He snapped his finger and the orb appeared behind the two closest rats before it exploded in a display of red firey fireworks. The flame spread out onto the vermin attempting to burn them to a crisp.

Hikio sighed to himself as he slowly got up wincing slightly from his newly made wound. But then suddenly, He grinned " Now it's ok to kill it!" Paying no attention to the new ally that entered the scene, He grabbed his trident and get ready to attack. "Try to slaughter a man the offers you forgiveness? You disgust me! Since you give me this good ole wound here, I'll make sure to top that. Prepare to repent for your denial." And with that, He struck at the bear going for the kill

Seeing all the snakes dead, Derran focuses his attacks on the rats. "Watch out, Acanthas!" he yelled, "The rat behind you and to your right is much more ferocious than some of the others."
"Pelor's might will strike you down!" he declares, raising his symbol once more, attacking a rat.

The darken figure at the edge of the woods suddenly becomes brighter when a light emanates from his staff bathing him and his surrounding area with light. He quickly surveys the area, noticing the scuffle between a band of adventures, an almost dead bear, and a few giant rats. He yells an offer of assistance as not to startle others by his presences.

The new figure draped in the best apparel conjures a red orb in his hand . It disappears and reappears near the closest rats with only a snap of his fingers. Momentary hovering then bursting out with flames engulfing the no.8 rat, and slightly singeing the fur on rat no. 4.

Derran yells out to Acanthas to watch out for the slightly bigger rat then focusing his attack on that same rat. Saying a prayer holding his holy symbol in front of him it begins to glow and a radiant light beams forth striking the no.4 rat. When the emanating light dissipates, only a remnant of sparkling light remains, for the eyes of Acanthas.


Bear Attack on the rats in previous post was a result of an Action point expenditure.

Bear attacks first
The bear barely clinging to life makes a random attack upon those surrounding it. It hits Hikio with his left paw as it swings around. Hikio falls to the ground motionless.
