Character Description

I've gotten two character descriptions so far.
@Stormbringer and DungeonJMan: If you guys can repost your general description here, along with a link to your sheets once they are completed, that would be great.

Likewise, if anyone plans on playing this game, they should put their characters here.

The deadline is 6/26 for completed character sheets.

Name: Valen "Blind-Axe" Strand
Age: 23
Race: Human
Classes: Fighter 10 (Yeah, it seems sort of bland and weak for a mid-high level setting, but in the words of President Lincoln concerning general Ulysses S. Grant: "I can't spare this man, he fights.")
Alignment: Neutral (Bordering on Neutral Good, except he doesn't try to the utmost of his abilities to ensure that he lives a good life, just one where he won't harm people who don't deserve it)
Personality: A fellow on the edge of reservedness: Not particularly happy go lucky, but content, although he always looks like he is staring at something on the horizon. This even applies to a fight, where Valen always looks for a quick way to dispatch foes in the least painful way possible, but always seems restrained, though this is never the case. Regarding his worldview: Valen believes in three things: Live life as any other person would (which in most cases is as practically as possible), Observe all things that one can, and to never hold a grudge.

Physical Description: 6'2", Brown Hair that would be straight, except for the fact that it looks like a mop on Valen's head. Has a short moustache that also looks a bit ragged. Valen's eyes are permanently shut and rendered useless, with a single scar going straight from one to the other. Fairly muscular build, coming from a hard life where one had to get strong or die in the dirt. As for his clothing, Valen prefers to wear a simple traveler's outfit of wool breeches, dark brown boots, an off white shirt, belt, and an old, but still serviceable tan cloak whose hood was probably last worn right before Valen looted it from the original owner about 4 years ago.

Background: Valen was born to a two bit bandit leader in the hills via noblewoman (unwillingly). As he grew up, the young lad was constantly used by his father as "just another pair of hands to hold a weapon, if not worse", and had to find individual people to rob for the necessities to live, as the bandit camp would not allocate any resources to the youngster (despite being expected to participate in all "jobs"). This continued for 16 years until the fateful night when a lone paladin, having been hired by the neighboring village who finally had obtained the gold to request outside help, marched into the camp.

Wave after wave of bandits approached the paladin, seeking to cut him down, while the noble man proceeded to smite them in self defense. Attempting to contact the leader, the paladin nonetheless found the situation repeating once again, and sadly turned to return to the village only to find Valen standing behind him with a pair of axes.

The youth, having planned to come that night and kill his father, nevertheless realized the danger that letting a paladin leave would incite, and blocked the exit to the bandit leader's tent. Wanting to spare at least this one youth from the entirety of the camp, the paladin sought to knock Valen unconscious with a blow to the head from his longsword's hilt. Unfortunately, this plan was ruined when the youth's axes came forward, forcing the paladin into a defensive position. The struggle was brief, lasting for a few seconds, and the result was the paladin pushing Valen's axes back, with enough force to accidentally go and blind him.

Filled with rage at the man who had put out his eyes, and having nothing left to live for, Valen went on a 5 year rampage throughout the countryside, looking to find the paladin and settle the score or do more. Finally, 5 years to the day, Valen found the castle of the paladin (who in this time period had gone on to a very successful career and was awarded a noble title and a land grant after exposing and defeating a succubus that had infiltrated the court of the original village's kingdom).

From dawn until noon, Valen went tearing through the castle, slaughtering a large number of guards and eventually making his way to the meditation chamber of the paladin himself. A duel commenced, and for a little while it appeared that Valen had the upper hand, but the paladin was indeed stronger. But he was struck with a dilemma: killing the youth was obviously an evil act, no matter how many times the little son of a gun had murdered, but leaving Valen alive would just start the cycle of vengeance over again. The only solution was sacrifice: the man willingly let Valen cut him open, and as he died, the paladin smiled and whispered that Valen ought to run to another kingdom before the game was up.

Valen took the advice, and as soon as he found himself out of immediate danger, he reflected on his victory: and how hollow it felt. The sacrifice of one of the kingdom's up and coming stars just to end the cycle of revenge. From this point on, Valen swore that even if he could not live a good life, he would at least try to live a decent one.

For the last 2 years, Valen has been working as a mercenary, in a land that fails to recognize him for the monster bandit that he once was. He knows that he can never be forgiven for what he's done, but he finds peace of mind in ensuring that the work he does in the future will not harm good people and that he will try to break cycles of revenge wherever he can find them.

@Koutoner: Still need to know exact details of what benefits the Blind-Feat would entail for such a character or sacrificing a feat slot to gain partial blindsight and whatnot. Can't really figure out all of the character feats until then...

DungeonJMan: For the blind combat and sacked feat, I would say that your character receives no penalty for fighting, is not denied dexterity when flat-footed, and loses no penalty for being flanked. However, Your character would be prone to sound-related flanking (like dvati flanking). As far as skills go, you would be able to make Listen checks as a replacement for spot, and personally, I would probably inform you when your extrasensory hearing is available. Also, I would expand the blind combat feat in that you would have no concealment penalty if the concealment is not a physical obstruction (at my discretion).

Name: Valandil Elensar
Age: 127
Race: Gray Elf
Classes: Rogue8/Assassin2
Alignment: Chaotic Evil(bordering on Neutral)
Background:
Atop the Stormhold Mountains lay Elrohir Celebrindal the great Citadel where I was born. Many know of our people as pompous, irritable, and callous, with slender heads held high, and frail fingers clasped around a leather bound book.

Much of this is true of course, yet a secret lies dormant within the underbelly of our vast kingdom. Many of our people are raised as wizards, this is true, but a select few others share a different fate. It did not take long for our former masters too realize the potential in covertly plundering our rivals secrets.

Thus a second sect of our order was born. The most dexterous and rigorous youth are trained from an early age the art of espionage. As I child I showed much physical and mental prowess therefore making me a prime candidate for our guilds hidden secret.

The training was difficult and quite painful at times, as we were expected not only to be physically fit but to have a great understand of the Arcane. An understanding of magic was very important in fact, mainly because we had to know what knowledge was most valuable if we were going to effectively pilfer it. I spent many days studying books within our library, or training in the large gymnasium found much higher in the mountain, where rolling thunderclouds would reach down to touch its slender peaks.

At the age of 95 I was sent on my most difficult mission. Pretending to be an apprentice I entered an academy of magic founded by a knowledgeable human named Sol Halime. Sol was old and wise, spending much of his time studying his craft in the Astral Plane where time did not effect his body. It was when he was on one of these retreats that I managed to sneak into his laboratory. Unluckily for me a magic trap had been place near his work area. I managed to escape the academy with my life, but without my left hand which was permanently severed by a disintegration field.

Grievously injured I returned to the mist covered halls of Elrohir Celebrindal where my masters tried desperately to repair my severed appendage. In the end their magics were of no use and I began to fear that I had become useless due to my present deformity.

Several years later a prosthetic limb was constructed as a replacement for my hand. The wizards had created it using magic, making it possible for me to use the skills I had spent nearly a lifetime to obtain. Of course my false hand made it difficult to blend in as I had been previously, hence I was given a new objective.

For the following years I worked as an assassin, quieting enemies of our guild. So skilled was I at this service, I was given the option of retiring my short sword and tattered cloak, for the scroll and robe of the wizard. I humbly refused, begging my masters to allow me free access to the outside world. They agreed under the condition that I return every 30 years to report what I have learned to our superiors.

Now I travel the hollow road to the edge of our mountain, In search of greater meaning in life, outside the duties I was born into.

Physical Description: Valandil Elensar is much larger than the average Gray Elf, standing forehead to forehead with, and being nearly as thick in shoulder as a human. His hair is a bright silver color and his eyes a deep violet. He also has pointed ears and an angular chin, thin lips and a slender nose, the noble features and bone structure of an elf.

Valandil’s left hand has been replaced by a device similar to magical rod having 3 distinct functions. The first function is a grappling clasp which allows Valandil to manipulate thieves tools, utensil’s etc. The second is +1 dagger spring-loaded so that it can pop in and out of hiding. The third function is a hologram of a his former left hand that cannot actual hold or touch anything.

Name: Stroat Silverscale
Age: 12
Race: Kobold
Classes: Dragon Shaman 8/Bloodline 2
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Bloodline/Totem: Silver
Background: A few scant years ago Stroat was born into a poor mining warren. There was much comotion over his birth as he had a bright, silver sheen across the scales on his back. He was being groomed to go into the priesthood. Until the Gnomes invaded, sweeping the Kobolds out of their homes and mines. Kobold blood flowed freely that day. Much of Stroat's clan was wiped out that day, including many of his brood-mates and his sire.

His clan cast out, Stroat vividly remembers the horrors of that day, and those memories spur him forward in his studies with the clergy. In his seventh year he and the other priests held a ceremony to choose which path in the church he would walk. A shared vision struck the small group, then. A vision of the ancestor that lay in his past, the hopes of that ancestor for his clan, and the charge of uniting the clans and bringing them together into a united Kobold nation. The priests were awed by the visions and the mission that was laid out before Stroat. When the vision subsided, Stroat had a glorious pair of wings. Grimly, they bestowed upon him the title of one of their most honoured positions: Dragon Shaman.

It was time for Stroat to leave to gather support for his cause. He knows that what happened to him and his clan is not an uncommon occurance, and he hoped to use this arguement to unite the clans behind him. The road was hard, He traveled mostly at night for the sun hurt his eyes. He had to battle off many beasts and would-be adventurers that thought he would be easy sport.

Upon arriving at the first clan that he had found, he was brought in and treated very well, but the elders would not come to follow him as they thought that it was a doomed mission. "Where would this kingdom be? What land would accept this nation you speak of?" For this he had no answer. Stroat vowed that he would return when he could answer those questions.

Clan after clan was found and clan after clan turned him away. He realized that he needed to secure a place for them to reside before he could hope to sway any of the elders. As such he has been wandering for years in search of a suitable crawl of mountain that would provide ample mining opprotunities for his peoples.

Physical description: Stroat looks more like a very small silver dragon rather than a Kobold. Though his tail is less well muscled, and the scales on his skin are more delicate. When he has his mouth open for long periods of time fog rolls out his mouth and his breath is cool rather than warm.

I'm working on the character sheet now.

Edit: Character sheet is done-ish. Skills and mundane items will follow.

Name: Ashuin "the Dreamer"
Age: 30
Race: Human
Class: Monk 10
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Background: Ashuin grew up a bookworm, his nose constantly in a nonfictional book of history or a terrifying novel about drow, maybe even some arcane from time to time, but he never could get into it. When his mind wasn't lost lost between the pages of a book, it was in the clouds, thinking of theories about the human mind, lost in the psychology of his race.

He learned about spirituality, about his connection with the gods and how they influenced his reality. He read of wise and noble monks, full of lore and parables for every situation. He read about the great martial combat they used, adorned with graceful stances that made it look as a dance. He couldn't deny a growing interest in monkhood.

When he was 18, the youngest age most monasteries would allow a new student, he enrolled immediately. He excelled in the martial arts program, his dedication and intense practice regimen helped him to out do even the most in-shape apprentices, and within years he knew it like the back of hand, and began to teach.

When he wasn't going through brutal practice regimens, he was meditating, oft into the dark hours of the night. He studied the works of the ancestors and leaders of the monastery, following the path to enlightenment. And before long, at the youthful age of 27, he reached the mental state many yearned for, enlightenment.

However his craving continued, he was not satisfied with finding the end to mental improvement. He craved to be better in martial arts, to move his body in ways others could not, to master the unknowable.

He searched and searched, but he knew he could not find what he was looking for, and to do so was to find the unfindable. He was looking in the wrong place he knew, for gods rarely existed on this plane, he needed to go beyond. He knew that he had to learn the secrets of the gods themselves to find contentment, and to know the secrets of the gods is to not only break the cycle of searching, but to break the cycle of life and death and find immortality. He couldn't deny his unquenchable thirst for godhood.

Appearance: As Ashuin slowly rises to his feet you see he stands about 6 feet tall, a slightly above average height for a human. As he walks you see his white robe flutter behind him, you hear his bare feet pat softly against the stone floor, and you smell a faint aroma of flowers as he passes you. As you look closely at his face you see his eyes are brown and kind, reminding you of a dirt road on which many memories have been had. His mouth is drawn into a thin smile as usual, yet his teeth remain hidden behind two thin lips. His head, lips, and chin are completely bare, not even showing traces of hair. As he raises his arm and slides the robe back you see his arms are gripped with firm, lean muscle. His skin is soft and smooth, many blond hairs covering its surface.

My character is still somewhat tentative, but I'm making progress on its creation. Just need to work out some details. I won't be able to post my character sheet for a few days, since I currently do not have internet access (this should change next week). I was originally going to make a monk, but I noticed the severe lack of spellcasting.
Unfinished Character Sheet (need to do feats, spells, items)

Character Name: Jeph The Magnificent
Race: Human
Class: Cleric 3/Wizard 3/Mystic Theurge 4
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Appearance:
Jeph appears to be in his late 40s. His beard hasn't quite reached the fullness of an ancient mage, but he does have a faceful of graying hair, reaching down to his neck. His unkempt hair is long and dangles past his shoulders. He wears a simple brown robe and carries a staff.

Background:
Long ago, when he was a child, Jeph used to walk miles to the house of his grandfather, a powerful mage, just to hear stories of his epic adventures. Growing up on these stories, Jeph decided that he too would be a wizard extraordinaire. As a young adult, he began to research magic, and in his studies, he learned of the church of Boccob. Desiring to serve the god of magic, Jeph took off, heading for the nearest church. Upon arriving, he convinced one of the priests to take him in and teach him about Boccob. Jeph dived into theological studies, and soon became a cleric of Boccob. He departed on several small missions, oftentimes with other priests, to recover magical items for the temple, and in this way, he discovered his true calling.
One day, Jeph realized after a long period of introspective thinking, that he could better serve the cause of Boccob by becoming a wizard, and learning firsthand of arcane magics, as well as the divine. With the blessings of the head priest, Jeph left the church, and departed for the estate of his grandfather. He begged his grandfather to teach him how to cast spells, but the grandfather refused him. However, his grandfather did agree to find Jeph a tutor, and soon enough, he was sent off to the capital of Astania to learn under the wings of one of his grandfather's old friends.
Jeph studied extremely hard, nose in the books night and day. He left his studies, only for the occasional jaunt in the city. After a year of hard work, Jeph had learned how to cast spells. But he desired still more power. He purchased every book on magic and myths he could find, and when money ran low, he would go out searching for old forgotten treasures, and sell them off. By the time he had reached age 30, Jeph was an accomplished wizard, and knew many things that there were to know about magic. He had not forgotten his clerical studies however, and he vowed to soon return to them and master both the arcane and divine magics. True to his word, he began to read about proper applications of divine power. And then he discovered a book about the loose group of spellcasters known as the "Mystic Theurges". Studying their ways, he soon learned how to multitask his education, and learn about both divine and arcane magic at the same time.
Leaving the city, Jeph sought out an old abandoned watchtower, and decided to take it as his own. He furnished it with the basic necessities of life, and then began to stockpile tomes and magical trinkets, building up a hoard of knowledge. He spent years collecting magic items and enough books to fill a library, but then one night he dreamed of a large black obelisk, towering in the sky above a frigid wasteland. He initially dismissed it as nothing, but after the dream reoccurred, he set off for the capital again, in order to learn what this obelisk was a portent for.

Everyone who has posted on this thread, thank you. Currently, there are 5 players that will be playing in the campaign: Bile, Stormbringer, DungeonJMan, TheIndigoChild, and Hogfather. Due to the fact that not all of the characters are finished, I will "start" the campaign tomorrow, but until every character is finished, I only expect that TheIndigoChild and Stormbringer start the campaign off. In a week, if the campaign is running smoothly, I will continue the main campaign.
