Most of the caravans are carrying fairly standard trade goods, but there is one caravan that stands out. It is hauling rolls of fine fabric heading to Duravia. Normally the flow of fabrics goes from Duravia, not to it. In the morning when Amoura is checking out the wagons the merchant eyes her up, and gives her a smile. Got a taste for the finer things, missy? I deal in the best silks you'll find on the island. |

Amoura smiles and looks more interested in the silks. I wish I had a good way to transport them but right now my friends and I are going to be roughing it for some time and I'm afraid anything I purchase would just get ruined. Do you have a shop somewhere? I would be happy to stop there when I have the chance. I travel quite a bit. She then gets a curious look on her face, I thought silk usually went the other way? Was this extra?

The man's smile drops a bit when Amoura mentions roughing it. Though when she asks about a shop he perks back up. Oh, I couldn't actually sell you any of these, they are already sold. I'm just delivering them and picking up new materials. And yes, the flow of silks usually does go the other way.
His voice drops a few levels, These are actually enchanted silks. They have a series of enchantments on them to protect from soiling, staining, ripping, and just about anything else. In fact, the tailors who will be crafting these into fine garments must use specially enchanted scissors, needles, and what have you to be able to even cut the silks. Otherwise it would be like trying to cut through steel. When you get back from your roughing it with your friends, look me up. My tailoring shop is on the corner of Merchant Row and Temple Street. |

Nebel meanders back to his camp after satisfying his curiosity, helping the packing up of the camp. He gets a few drinks in between wrapping blankets and cleaning up the campsite.

Amoura is obviously impressed by the merchant's description of the silk. I did not know silk was enchanted in that manner, I would be very interested and will be certain to stop. I am Amoura but I'm afraid that I missed you name.

He taps himself on his forehead, My apologies Miss Amoura, I am Markous. Tailor, enchanter, and purveyor of fine silks. He bows deeply, then glances over at his wagon. He produces a necklace from under his shirt, removes a silver key from it, and opens a small locked chest. He takes out a deep forest green silk cloak with silver and gold symbols embroidered along the edges and hem and offers it to Amoura.
Call this a loan. It is a Comfort Cloak. In addition to being enchanted to stay clean, and resist being cut, it also keeps you warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. Remember, never let them see you sweat. I'm sure that when you get back and come to my shop you and your friends will all be interested in making purchases. |

Amoura takes the cloak when Markous offers it but stands there uncertainly with it. This is very generous of you Markous but I don't think I can accept such a fine garment without some type of compensation. Our travels will no doubt put us at risk and there is always the chance that we would not survive the days ahead. I would hate for you to give away such an item, even as a loan, without a chance that it would make it back to you.

Markous chuckles at Amoura's hesitation. I appreciate your honesty, though hearing that you are going to be putting yourself in danger is some cause for concern. I'll tell you what. I'll sell it to you at a first time buyer discount. 10 gold. Call it a good faith gesture towards future sales. If I never see you again, more's the pity. And I write it off as a cost of doing business.
With a mock grab at his chest and a smile he adds, Just please don't tell me it's because you don't like the design or the color. |

Amoura smiles and hands Markous 10 gold. Although she is still uncertain about the entire transaction she does not want to insult the man and ruin what could possibly be a good business contact in the future. With a smile she says, It is a lovely cloak and I will be proud to wear it and refer anyone who may ask where it came from.

Markous smiles and nods his head to her. Safe travels, and I hope to see you at my shop soon. He turns back to the wagon, locks the chest, and returns the key to his necklace. He then pats one of his guards on the shoulder and tells him he is ready to move out. Markous then climbs into the back of the wagon as they start heading north to Duravia.
We will continue on North of the Forest. |
