House Rules
Thoughts of any kind should be italicized When I as a DM have an NPC speak in another language I will use different colors to show which language it is in. Feel free to use these as well. Common will be Black in color Deep Speech will be Indigo in color Draconic will be Dark Green in color Dwarven will be Dark Red in color Elven will be Sea Green in color Giant will be Sienna in Color Goblin will be Olive in color Primordial will be Teal in color Supernal will be Orange in color Abyssal will be Dark Slate Gray in color The other option for alternate languages is to put it into a 'OCC' dialog box using the {fieldset=elven}...{/fieldset} code (there's a button for it!) e.g.: Last edited by Dalinen; 09-27-2009 at 10:04 PM. |

Combat
__________________Initiative: When we first start the game as part of your first post in the game I'm going to have you roll initiative. That will be your initiative for the first encounter. From then on after every encounter, when the party takes a short rest, I will ask for a new set of initiative rolls. The reason for this is it allows us to not have to waste a whole round of posts on just initiative rolls. I will be rolling one initiative roll (averaged modifier) for all the beasties under my control. This saves me from a ton of paperwork and also allows for everyone to post their actions when they can and not have to worry as much about initiative order. Dice rolls should be made in this thread and linked to your post using the URL tag. An example of how I as a player, in other games, format my combat posts: Title: HP: 24/24 AC/Fort/Ref/Will: 20/16/15/13 HS:0 of 10 Flavor text: What the character is doing, saying, or experiencing. The more detail the better in my opinion. Mechanics: I present my actions using different colors for each power type Daily powers appear in Dim Gray, Encounter powers appear in Red, and At-Will powers appear in Green. Please put the mechanics info into a spoilerbutton tag: {spoilerbutton=mechanics} ...{/spoilerbutton} This is how I'm most comfortable doing my combat posts when I play. It's a little code heavy but I believe it conveys the info to the DM rather nicely. I encourage each player to come up with their own way of posting combat information. The only mandates I as a DM have are as follows: 1. Defenses and HP included in every post. Whether you post this in the title in a fieldset box, or use a spoiler button is up to you. 2. Combat actions presented in the order you take them. However you like posting your actions (in a separate area at the bottom of your post or as part of your narrative) make sure that a clear order can be obtained. 3. Move actions must show the path you take. Since we are all not sitting around a table playing I need to see the path you are taking to determine opportunity actions, trap triggers, and area effects 4. Effects: If your power has extra effects built into it let us know. This is beneficial to both me as a DM and your fellow players (it's really nice to know that the gobbo you've been pounding on is now blind and is taking ongoing fire damage). Other than that feel free to develop a style that suits you as a player. As long as we can determine what power you are using and whom it is effecting everything will run fine. Secrets: If you want to do something secretive - either do a skill test, pick someone's pocket, ask me a question, whisper to a fellow player, etc... then use the following code, replacing '{...}' with '[...]' : {secret=Dalinen}...{/secret} Last edited by Dalinen; 09-27-2009 at 10:06 PM. |
