...sorry if this doesn't make sense chronologically, I missed MoM's last post...
__________________Halcyon puts a hand on Tun's shoulder and gives him a serious and sad look before explaining the events of this morning in full detail. His anger shows through when he mentions Rurik's beheading (though he follows Tun's lead and refrains from naming Rurik a dwarf). The pieces then click for Halcyon and he inhales sharply before adding, "Two cloaked figures you say? Northeast of the Ramparts? Was Rubas being led forcibly? We suspect two assassins killed Rurik and Acker... that must have been them..." Halcyon lapses into thought. |

When Aruma finally relieved herself of her breakfast, and something she was certain she'd never eaten, she wiped her mouth and nose clean with one of the many colored rags tucked throughout her armor. Afterward she coyly reentered the domicile to see what was keeping her rescuers.
It looked like her companions were arranging for more mercenaries or privateers to add to the party. The new recruits looked like large bandits as far as she could tell. No need to be improper. The paladin marched straight away to the hirelings. "I'm Aruma Folles, I've recently joined these treasure hunters myself, if you're all quite ready perhaps we could continue theorizing and socializing on the road." It didn't make sense to the knight to stay where assassins were trying to hamper the journey to your next birthday. |

"Actually," Marcan started correcting his old friend, "I went in the hopes of a good bath, feed and bed at the Folles Mansion, but we ended up only making it as far as the monk's place. I bet some of our party regret that call now!" As he talks, the halfling moves around the room, peeking down the passageways as he passes them, and generally remaining a silent blur - apart from his casual chatter.

As he starts walking after Halcyon and twisting his mouth into all sorts of grimaces, Grabbag tries to pronounce Aruma's name a number of times... "ARrrua... Rrruma..." and so on. Finally, with a satisfied grin he settles on "Rrum"

Halcyon searches for the dart traps in the room, and quickly finds and disables the traps, and while he is doing that, he is retelling the tale of what the awoke to find that very morning.
__________________Tun's face shows true shock and horror. It takes the cleric of sune many moments to fully digest the news, but when he finally does, he cant help but shake is head at the loss of such fine lives(even if he didn't know Acker.) Finally, he pulls himself together to hear Halcyon's question. "He did not seem to be forced. He was fully armed, and wasnt bound, but maybe he knew better to resist after witnessing such brutal murders?" While that is happening, they slowly make their way past the traps into the hallway, to find what was so heavily guarded was a large hole in the floor. It was completely dark below, so you couldn't quite judge how far it was. |

Rahmun breaks his silence, with a slow question as they stare down the hole.

"Tun, do you think the Lady is below?" Dedrik asked. The dwarf then produced a sunrod and a rope from his pack, looking to Tun awaiting his answer. He glanced about as well to see if there was anything nearby to secure the rope to.

Travis pulls another rope out of his pack and ties it to the end of Dedrik's. "Well, the lady's not here and her front door's not open. Let's get going, we've all questions of import." He helps the dwarf tie the rope around the best anchor they can find.

Aruma stayed silent as the events unfolded around her. Things were happening quicker than she could sort them out, and she wanted to take in as much as she could before responding. Her debt kept her tied to her new comrades for now. Their rescue honor bound her to their side.
Without waiting she kneeled down and began wrapping the rope around her own waist. She looped the long twine around her stomach a few times, sliding the end around the loops to create a sort of "swing" a couple lengths thick for her to sit in. Being the smallest it only made sense for her to take point after all. |

Marcan was not terribly interested in the hole. If it was short enough, he would be happy to teleport down there, or back up again - but if it were too deep, well, climbing had never been a strong point of his...so he waited for the others to check it out.

Grabbag looks confused at all the weird bondage things the human is doing as she is lowered into the pit. He just steps back to the wall, makes sure he has all his paltry possessions with him, and, pounding his booted feet on the ground, strides forward, jumping into the pit, looking down curious to see what is in there, ready to SMASH.

"I didn't leave last night, but yesterday morning." Tun explains as ropes are broken out and everyone begins to look for an anchor point. They fail to find one short of the door across the room.
While they begin to figure out what to do, Grabbag Greatarse decides to take matters into his own hands. He quickly charges across the room, and jumps into the pit. Seconds later, they hear a splash below. Holding the sunrod over the pit, they find that he has fallen about thirty feet and landed in about five foot of water. "Uuug. Deeper pit than me thought. Come down. Water clean. Me got in. Water clean no more."

While Aruma prepares to get lowered down, Halcyon slips between her and the wall and falls prone, head over the large hole in the floor and one hand inside with his everburning torch to provide some light.
__________________"Grabbag... here catch..." he calls out as he drops the thin scepter with the bulbous glowing head into the void. As the bugbear snags it and weilds it, Halcyon gets a look at the water surrounding the bugbear. The dirt and oils from the bugbear's matted fur begin to radiate away from his body in an expanding circle of grunge. The catburglar sighs... he didn't like getting wet. Leather tended to chafe more when damp. Looking up at Aruma in her harness, he asks, "It looks deep... about 5 ft... sure you don't want me to go first?" |
