Does that really not make that much sense to you? There are two scales Good->Evil Lawful->Chaotic

Lawful to chaos is a based on a scale from 1-26 and Good to evil is based on a scale of A-Z. Everyone has a particular score that includes a number and a letter that reflects your alignment.

lonewolf and fred are not in the sewers they're not taking any alignment readjustments. "damage" is a harsh word, your hp is the same, your alignment takes damage which affects your primary ability, cha for sorcerors, wis for clerics, str or con for fighters/barbarians

@dk48: Your alignment score is 26M, I'm sorry I made the mistake of not realizing you are chaotic neutral. So far you have been behaving exactly like your alignment, not necessarily good or evil, but completely unpredictable. You have a perfect alignment score because you're right on both Neutral and Chaos, which grants you a +1 to your primary ability, which is either str/con, but if you do go off the wall you get -2 to the same stat and lose the +1.

I would say a barbarian technically would have con, but Str is oontaug's primary... Ah i will look and see what is listed first in the barbarian class discription and use it.

PHB says Str first so i'll use it.

So William takes a negative 2 points to wisdom because...? What "chaotic" act has he preformed? (I don't deny he inspired chaos in general, but I'm wondering what specifically caused this.)
So what, he needs to sacrifice someone to Nerull in an intricate ritual or something?
Because I think that could be arranged.

The entire situation is one of a chaotic nature. You lashed out unprovoked at a stranger. You didn't attempt to discern what or who and you did even try to get a light working to see who you were fighting. Because I'm a nice guy I'm explaining this decision, but as a general rule, what the DM says, goes.

For casters treat alignment-construed ability damage as affecting only DC of spells and skill checks. You still have the ability to cast whatever you did before, they're just weaker.

Ok the hesitation I agree with, the alignment fair enough, but am I really taking damage from a non-existent source just because when I get smashed in the face I try to attack the one who smashed me rather than ask them nicely to stop. I'm no paladin I can't detect evil so when someone attacks me as I'm trying to find the source of children screaming then as far as I can tell they're evil. Reading through the Temple of Pelor thread I can see what you intended to happen but I had not read this thread and as such had no indication of the true identity of these people and Spirit has meer human eyes and as such can only see shadowy figures. I see no fault in this response other than it's not the one you hoped for, and get the feeling you expected me to use ooc info to diffuse the situation.

And that would be Metagaming, which Dr. Green said he didn't want to have happen.

@hobozeke: Once again, suggestions can be sent to the suggestion box. .pointstotrashcan. Attacking back at individuals in that dark could be an act of self-preservation but only if you know that they know who you are. As far as you're knowledge is concerned they don't know who you are just as much as you don't know who they are. Coupled with the fact that Oontaug mentioned they were cleric's and you still continued to attack. This isn't DM pouting about storyline mishaps, this is you acting in a matter befitting someone outside your own alignment. It may not be fair, but that's life, and life is what your character is experiencing, a struggle to remain true to personal convictions. In other words, deal with it.

We're going to be leaving all this behind very soon anyways so pack up and post in.

Fine, then I will go to the suggestion box myself. I realise that you will most probably put this down to me being over protective over my character or throwing a tantrum over the fact that things didn't go my way and if that's the way you see it, fine feel free to disregard this next bit. This is very much the straw that broke the camels back, I joined this game in the hopes of that which it advertises on the name, a basic game with a balanced time doing classic dungeon crawls. I was expecting a core 4 or 5 players and that to be the end of it, then when more interest showed up Danteus decided to hold multiple groups. I thought this was a good idea and I like the core point of the inn in which we could occasional meet after quest. However drop rates grew and things splintered, I'm and by no means unused to this and expected it but it was the start of the chaos, more people entered, post rates dropped, what was meant to be simple had now turned into a jumble of games and conflicting interests.

This I could deal with, the core simple and fast paced game was slipping away but I was interested in where this was going and positively looking forward to it. However I found myself only coming back to back up Oontaug. Interest waning I then find myself being grappled by my alignment 'cause apparently good means that you need to run foolhardily into anything that screams. Then when I do the very thing I didn't want to due to such alignment yanking I get killer club to the face, this is fine as it is mostly Spirits/my fault, but what annoyed me most is that the DM then magically makes the damage disappear when it had previously been fatal for the sake of the story. Then I just get mysteriously punished for self-defence without sufficient reason (I'm sorry but you don't stop the mugger to make sure he knows who you are, if you did he's just stab you again so you try not to give them the chance. So once again I see the DM encouraging metagaming.) and lose what little points I have in my core ability making it one of my worst abilities. Even this I would happily have dealt with and accepted if it hadn't merely been random "letters" hitting my character with no in-game justification. If I had been attacked by creatures harder than necessary, triggered a trap, heck even if a rock fell on my head it would be better. Then anything I do gets criticised and ridiculed.

To sum it off I no longer have any control over Spirit, he is not my character he is Dr. Green's, I am simply a pawn through which the DM plays a PC. This game has then changed from the very open worlded system to being so heavy shoved onto railroads that the train has broken. And so I leave, letting Dr. Green take over as Spirit as he is so willing to do to find a game where a player is not simply an a DM pawn. Thank you Dragonkiller for the good times in this game as well as Aedur and I am sorry I didn't get to play with the rest of you but this is not the same game I joined.

With that my rant is ended disregard it as you please, have fun and no hard feelings. (I get bored of grudges very easily)
