Lartheianal rips off his cloak and offers it to the crab, landing the material over one of its claws. This entangles it, and makes the crab's next attack more difficult...and this distraction causes it to miss the cleric once again, Lartheianal managing to duck to one side.
__________________At the same time this all occurs, Aramil readies another arrow. Sadly the cover provided by the boxes nearby, and being afraid of hitting Lartheianal causes him to miss his shot again! Rory doesn't see Lartheianal move to one side, clearing a spot because he's too busy trying to hack his way through the deck of the ship to attack the best from above with his long chain. However his efforts are in vain, and he does little more than tire himself out. Taking the advantage whilst the crab was distracted by the cape over its claws, Emetiel darts forwards with his rapier, striking at one of the joints on a back leg. The giant crab hisses in anger and spins around to deal with this new threat. |

Rory hops down that empty ladder space with reckless abandon trying not to feel so left out against the crab. When he gets down he will try to crack some crab shell with the blunt en of his chain, if he doesn't run the risk of hitting his allies.

Still attemping to spot a weakness, if i see one i aim for it and if don't see one i blow my whistle to try and get the crab to move and look again at the new angle for a weak spot and fire an arrow

Lartheianal takes the moment of respite to Bless his comrades, bolstering their attacks. All three of the others take this chance to deliver some crushing blows. Aramil's arrow pierced the carapace, Rory's chain broke a leg and Emetiel deftly dodges the crab's dying blow to bury his rapier in one beady eye. Still entangled in the cloak, the crab hisses and clicks madly for a few seconds, then slumps to the floor dead.

"It is dead. What should we do with the corpse? I say we bring it to town. Also, can one of you bring up the arrows i shot, assuming that they are still intact."

"What a lunch it will make." "We need to check out the rest of the ship. A hole in the stern would mean they were rammed to me. Lets check for bodies or anything else." "Love crab, hope it isn't tough."

"Guess you are right, we should look around the ship more while were are here."

The group search the ship, looking for any clues as to what happened. There are no bodies hidden in, or under any of the crates and coils of rope, however they do find a few patches of blood. None of them are great pools where someone bled to death, but instead splatters or very small pools. These would indicate some kind of fight occurred on deck, and at least one person was knocked unconscious and was bleeding from a head wound below deck. It appears to be some kind of struggle...and then everyone just vanished. Lost overboard, or worse?

Rory is going to try and look for a few things in specific. With the blood on the wall, he wants to find if it smears in a trail. Was the victim dragged or delicately carried, or if the blood is only in that area. Rory also wants to try to detect any sort of chemical smells. "Rammed really, and only gave that little puncture? Hell you had to crawl through it just to get inside. If it was something big enough to ram them, than pirates or predators are to blame. Then you would ram to grab hold and then try to eat or steal. There would have been much more blood, and that is only if they were caught off guard. If the sailors were fishing, then they should have seen another boat coming, besides boats are egg shaped. When a ship hits a ship the above water parts hit each other first, not the back corner of somethings hull." Rory cupped his hands to try and demonstrate. He tried to imagine where the person was standing before they were thrown against the side of the boat and slammed their head against the wall. "If it was a predator then it would have eaten the fish too, and there would be much more damage to the ship. I could be over thinking things, and I don't mean to **** on your ideas or nothing, but I have seen the way things get hit." He took a few steps and tried to wonder if a person standing near the ladder could have been thrown against the bloodstained wall if something hit him at an angle coming from the hole in the hull. "nah that is just crazy." He walked a bit closer to the hole, and measured it against his arms. "How much water, do you think a boat full of fish like this would take on with a hole this size? How long before it sank?"

None of you are experienced enough to know the answer to how long it would have taken to sink, but it's clear that the boat had enough time to drift ashore before it did.

"I'm not as experienced with boats and warfare as you are, but there's one thing, I do not understand about your explanation: if the boat was punctured, while the fishermen were doing their work some miles out on the sea, why didn't it sink out there. But maybe the crab made it's way through the hull to get to the fish. Emetiel drags the crab close to the hole and compare the claws with the hole. He also tries to find splinters of wood or remarkable things on the crab.
