Lady von Dachen's comment, innocent as it was intended to be, stings Liz more than she would like. Perhaps if I were a commoner all my life, it would have been funny, but under the circumstances it's a painful reminder of how much I have lost. Liz says nothing though, and is indeed thankful for the assistance in mounting the horse. Liz, cease your silent whining. There's more at stake here than a few hurt feelings.

The shrieking grows louder and louder as Liz rides into town. By the time she lays eyes on the child's spirit, Liz has her hands pressed tightly against both ears. That little girl, that spirit must be in so much pain, but what am I doing here? What can I do for her or against her? I'm clearly out, way out, of my league here. Liz buries her head against Lady von Drachen's back as the steed carrying them both continues to make its way forward. She is torn between trying to continue to hide behind the lady-knight and simply dismounting and fleeing this dreadful town, but aone, unprotected, by Sister Sharimel, how far would I even make it?

Fighting back her fear, Sharimel attempts to turn the horrid creature. Begone, back to whatever pits of the underworld from whence you came! She shouts, channeling her power through her words. Last edited by Davey Bones; 02-07-2010 at 02:22 PM. |

Gritting her teeth through the noise, the terrible shrieking of the ghostly form before her. She could not let such a thing remain, terrorizing everything about. Halting Thunder far enough out of reach that he should not be in danger of harm should a fight begin, she tethers him to a tree. Assisting Liz down, she practicaly leaps as she peddles rapidly toward the aparition. "Ach!, ze noise is frightening" she grumbles as she readies the blessed cold steel blade.

Liz unshoulders her pack and lowers it to the ground. Readying her crossbow, Liz moves slowly closer to the wailing apparition. Please, please, please let Sharimel's power be sufficient to destroy this thing, actually I guess it's the Savior's power channeled through Sharimel. Small difference, but still, pplease let it be sufficient. If it's not I doubt there's little my crossbow will do. Of course, if the thing would just shut it's spectral mouth, we could maybe reason with it, find what still shackles the poor soul to this world.

Blinking in surprise she slips the fine blade back in its sheath, turning to Sharimel with a warm smile, bowing her head in thanks, "You handled zat vell. Ve vill have to keep you handy I think," gladly rid of the girl for the time being. Her eyes swing around, narrowing as she does so. "Evaluation? It seems zis place stinks of evil still."
__________________Concentrating she looks about, as if sniffing out the evil in the air. "Maribelle vas not wholey fortcoming of information, she seemed, vorried by me. Vorried more after I questioned after zis. Someone of power may be behind zis, ze council may know more." It was just as likely that it was a monster that caused this, but the monster of man could be just as bad. |

Liz looks form Sharimel to the lady-knight for answers, but no definite answers seem forthcoming. Maybe the child's spirit was wailing because of some wrong perpetrated against it by someone here in the village, maybe even a member of the Church. Liz, however, does not have the courage to give voice to her thoughts. The last time I foundmyself on the wrong side of teh Church, my losses were great. Best to remain silent. What about the Nightwalker? Maybe the child's spirit wailed as warning against it.

[Sorry for the delay - I made the attack rolls a few days ago thinking Cheaplaffs would just advance the combat, my mistake]
Jacob nods to his brother's frantic instruction, not needing much more incentive to fire a few more rounds at the remaining vampires. His aim seems dead on, and his motions are fluid and almost graceful as he levers the action and chambers the second round. Hopefully this will be enough to rout the fiends and drive them off. |

Thank goodness that worked. That.. thing.. had an awful presence! Sharimel says, recovering from the shock of the creature. Lady vonDrachen may be correct. Perhaps we need to pay a visit to the council and see what they can tell us about the Nightwalker and the Wailer. Lady vonDrachen, keep that detect evil handy, I suspect we'll need it before the night is up.
She looks around. We may also need to speak with the Church. While it took some power, I cannot understand why the local clerics seem so unable to deal with an undead creature! Last edited by Davey Bones; 02-11-2010 at 02:24 PM. |
