Can I make a listen check to attempt to centralize exactly where the vampires/evil things are?

Sorry for the delay - I'm not sure how that would work in combat, but in game terms you can certainly use a listen check to determine where a noise is coming from, or if there are creatures nearby.
This wouldn't help you very much mechanically, though, since I've never heard of using a listen or spot check to compensate for darkness. |

I just needed a somewhat general direction along with distance.

It would depend on the spell. Things like sleep, no. Things like charm person, possibly, but they would get a +2 resist due to the Dark Matter.

The spell is color spray. It is the only thing I can think of to use in this situation

Yeah, a color spray would work. That is if you can funnel it somehow not to hit Elliot or Jacob. If you have any spells that hurt undead, that would be worth its weight in gold right now, and is what Elliot is calling for in-game. Keep in mind this is your action for round 1, so you have to take Round 2 into account too. If you don't do anything to prevent yourself from being gazed upon in your post, you begin Round 2 dominated by a Vampire. Each round you should make a will save to break free of the Vampire's control, with a +2 if he's making you do something against your will, such as attacking allies.
Remember you also suffer a 25% spell fail while casting with Dark Matter, but I guess it's better than hoping you'll hit something with Elliot's revolver. Last edited by Cheaplaffs; 01-29-2010 at 10:13 AM. |

From the descriptions you have made, it seems as if we are grouped together, not very far apart. I think it would be easy to keep the two out of the color spray with just a little movement. Last time I did a d100 it acted weird. Lets see how it goes. 1-25 is a failed spell. Dice Spell Failure:

Silvermane - I need to know the effects of your color spray spell to apply it to the enemy.
