The silence is disturbed by a slight moan of pain from Kagemoto as he grabs his temples. For a second it looks like he might pass out but he is able to shake off the pain.

((made it. wooo!))
Once he was finished with his test, Kage attempted to help his peers like he was told to do. But it seemed that as he did...... whatever it was that he had attempted to do back fired on him. He pulled out a hankie as apparently he was very use to getting a nose bleed. sure enough he squinted his eyes and there was a throbbing in his head. "so we are not allowed, understood. he started trying to come up with a better way to help his peers. He had thought of a number of ways to convey the correct answers that everyone came up with across the entire team. It took him a moment as he looked over his test and looked like he was about to say something, But he simply stood and walked out. Last edited by Malatar; 04-20-2010 at 01:50 AM. Kage quickly exits the room. Outside he sees his new mentor who looks at a watch on his hand and nods.
The door to the exam room opens a few minutes after Kage had mysteriously disappeared. Both Sensei and student walk in together. Casually Yao Guai collects each of the tests and quickly goes over them. He smiles at a couple then he cringes at one.
__________________Matoko...you did the worst. Surprisingly outside of Kage here Soreda you got the highest score. This concludes this portion of the exam. Yao Guai takes a position leaning on a wall. If you take a careful look "behind" the test you will find a special set of instructions telling you to leave the room quietly and quickly. The biggest lesson behind this exam is self imposed limitations. None of you had asked me precisely what the rules were for this exam. You assumed. The only thing forbidden in this room was the use of genjutsu. You would have received no penalty for talking, exchanging papers or any other means of cheating. In this world self imposed limitations and presumptions can be costly. Everyone follow me. He leads you through another passage that opens at the back of the room you are in. You descend through a long corridor and walk for some time through a dimly lit tunnel. When you emerge you are outside on a hill surround by trees. Your next exam is the modern day infiltration mission. Beyond me here is a ten story office building. You will have three main objectives. 1)Retrieve a pink file folder that is hidden in one of the rooms. 2) will be to download information from a computer terminal. 3) Leave no evidence you were there. The file you are looking for is called "Ninja Eradication". It is now 11 p.m. You will have until sun up to complete this part of the exam. I will remind you to think laterally as well as vertically. Despite three main objectives there are many opportunities to lose or gain points. Proceed East down this path when you get to the clearing you will see your objective. |

Soreda runs his thumbs up and down the straps on his backpack. While still noticeable and possibly annoying, at least his teammates would take a different meaning from the seemingly harmless act than if he were to voice what was running through his head. Despite the proud smile he wears when his admirable grades are revealed, the first phase of this exam is actually leaving him frustrated. Performing on stage was so much simpler. You knew when you had to rock left, right, left, then sing three words and on the fourth you would spin, jump, and land in a wide stance, followed by pyros exploding. It was all timed to the second, all very specific, you were asked to do, and you did. The ninja world is, apparently, the opposite. A vague notion is thrown your way and without really knowing what is wanted from you you do the best you can. He had asked if there was anything he needed to know, fearing something like this might happen and was assured that nothing else could be told. Now he was told that he hadn't pressured the Sensai enough and it was his fault. Sorry I'm not more of an a--hole, Sensai, I'm just too attached to having friends. This will not be an easy endeavor for the boy. It is apparently to be assumed that if it's not expressly prohibited, it is allowed.
"What can I say? We all get our fifteen minutes. This part shouldn't be too tricky either for a group like us, right guys?" Soreda asks with a shrug, casually stepping away from his teammates just a little. If that's how it works, then it's probably not against the invisible rules to screw over teammates to make sure you get the job done. It's a lot easier to do something unnoticed when everyone's too busy "noticing" someone else. I have to make sure I'm not that guy. He looks to Kage and raises his eyebrows in obvious amazement. With a nod he substitutes "Good job, dude." for "with a single finger gesture you could have tipped us off and helped the rest of the team save face, thanks for nothing". Soreda pats the other boy on the shoulder. "If you do as well on the rest of the exam we can all just lean on you, right? Heh." He isn't sure how he feels about this Kage. How would he know the unspoken rules? He seemed to be so tight with their new Sensai. Something didn't add up. That aside, his apparent knowledge of the ninja world mixed with what appears to be a lack of desire to help anyone else leaves Soreda with a mixture of admiration and disgust, but nothing the boy hadn't dealt with and concealed from countless others before. Breaking eye contact with the other boy he turns his attention to the Sensai. Attempting to put what he's "learned" to good use (though expecting it to bear no fruit whatsoever) he decides to be more... Direct. "A building is a pretty big place to look for a file, where will it be specifically? And how many people are in that building? And do they know we're coming? And why do we need to get stuff off of a computer if we're getting this file? Come to think of it, why can't we just get all of the information from the computer? If they got a wireless network we could sit outside of the building even maybe and just hack them, that eliminates a lot of risk. What is it you want from the computer? Can we be seen if they don't know it's us? I assume we can kill anyone we want. Are any of the other groups doing this mission and we could just mug them instead? Will you go do it for us? Since I asked and didn't limit myself to assuming WE had to do it? Are they armed? Are there security cameras? How many? On all floors? Do they have a backup generator if we cut the power? Can we download the computer file somewhere else? And if so, is the pink folder fireproof?" He holds a finger up to any teammates prepared to chime in, shushing them for a moment. "Do we get any schematics? Do you have schematics you won't give us? Should we attack you for your private schematics? Do they know the file is there? Would they care if we just asked them for it? What's it about? What's the best way to get in? Are you going to be here until morning? What happens if we do leave evidence that we were there? Do we all get punished or just the one who did it? Will they try to kill us? Do you know for a fact that one or more of us plan to sabotage this mission for the rest of us? What do you mean by laterally instead of vertically? If you were going to give us a more clear and straight-to-the-point clue, what would that clue be? Uhhh..." He hums for a moment, simply maintaining noise as if trying to keep his place in the "it's my turn to talk" line. Finally, he nods and goes silent then studies the face of his sensai, awaiting answers. |

Kagemoto did what he could but with the instructions it seemed fairly clear that the amount that he attempted to help the others cheat was pushing the limits as it was already. "Thank you. But I did not succeed the way that I wanted to. I had used a Genjutsu so the collected best answers of everyone would write out on the desks in front of everyone, but my jutsu was canceled and one was casted on me that nearly knocked me clean out." Kage had a very strange way of talking to someone as he just stared at Soreda's left eye and never blinked, far to serious. "I made my nose bleed before I left the room in hopes someone would get concerned and follow me out but I assumed wrong. As well I left my answered test on the table with the special instructions facing up." He realized that though he was mentioning the ways he kept trying to help everyone, they are not ninja yet and he was being a jerk.
"I am very sorry that I had hidden my attempts to help everyone." He never looked away from Soreda nor blinked, he simply waited until the kid was done asking the long list of very well thought out questions. "Sense I passed the last test I will be happy to be point on this mission, I would just cause trouble for them to get the entire security, assuming there is security, to one side of the building but we cant show signs of being here, which would count points off for the entire team. hmmmm." Kage finally looked away and was now starring at the building. |

Soreda instantly regrets his decision not to check up on Kage during the test. "For what it's worth, I was worried. I just didn't want to get us killed or something, I still don't know how serious this test is," he whispers to the other boy. "Well," he starts out loud, now addressing his whole team. "A distraction would make this a lot easier. One of us distracting would be great, but we have to know the rules first. If we could get away with distracting while in a disguise or something, that could work too. Even setting off a few car alarms or something, which wouldn't involve any of us being seen, but still might tattle that we've been there. Kinda gotta know what the rules are and all. But you're thinkin'. I like that." He holds his right hand up for a knuckle bump from Kage while continuing. "If anyone else has ideas don't hang back." His waiting fist hangs in the air, though his attention seems to have moved back to Sensai.

Kage's fist met Soreda's, it was good to get it all out in the air so everyone knew that Kage acted in very subtle ways and was extremely perceptive and was a devout planner. Baby steps, he kept telling himself. "Its serious, this is the test that will make or break us mate. We each have our own style, I'm a Genjutsu user and copy ninja." It was his turn to ask a few pointed questions to the teacher. "Do you have any equipment that we may use such as a few Comms? And how detailed should we assume the signs of our passing can be, are we talking down to hair and finger prints?" He was already pulling out his gloves from his armor under his old style ninja armor.

“So we could have talked during the test, huh? Thanks a lot public school system for screwing my ninja life over,” Nodoka huffed as she blew at a lock of her silver hair. “Oh well. I consider it a pass that I didn’t fall asleep.”
__________________Once again stuffing her hands into her pockets, she followed after Yao Guai. ‘No, Nodoka, stabbing the poor guy for talking so much is a bad thing,’ she tried to calm herself as she listened to Soreda ramble off what felt like enough questions to make even the Buddha commit genocide. With a small groan she removed one hand to rub her index and middle fingers against her temple, trying to preemptively subdue the headache she knew she was about to get from hanging around this guy for too long. “And let the paranoia commence,” she muttered to herself. Waiting for a chance to speak up, she gave her thoughts. “I’m more specialized in stealth, so here’s what I’m thinking: I, and who ever can properly work a computer enough to get whatever we need to get, walk up the side of the building to whatever floor this folder may be on. Then I get us inside through a window. We do our business, and then get out the same way we came in. The others can watch the front or back, maybe keep an eye on the upper offices. If we don’t have radios, we at least have cell phones, I assume.” To accent her point, she pulled out her own cell phone as well as her portable radio. “Someone on the outside calls someone going in, never hang up, turn off your ring, and we have an instant walkie-talkie with no way for someone lacking proper equipment to cut into our conversation. Simple and easy.” With that, Nodoka looked directly to Yao Guai, her face expressionless for the most part, but the signs of agitation from both the written test and Soreda’s rapid-fire questioning still clear in her eyes. “Like the motor-mouth said,” she pointed her thumb toward Soreda, “Do we get any schematics of the place? Also, any clue, or preferably the unriddled answer, as to where the folder is from and what exactly we’re supposed to get off the computers? I certainly don’t feel like having to haul an entire computer back to you.” |

"Heh, 'motor-mouth,'" he repeats with a smile. Think I've got this chick pegged pretty well at least. Still unsure about the others, but I think I know how this chick thinks, and that's step one. "Well, I've been tutored in computer espionage," He approaches the girl and drapes his left arm along her shoulders. "I wouldn't mind keeping you company." As he says this his right hand goes to his chest, the true purpose being to defend against a sudden attack. "Sound good?" he tonelessly whispers as his piercing blue eyes stare passionately into her soul. He smiles with genuine affection as he notices that he can just barely catch the reflection of his own incredible face in her eyes. Three ways to go, Noriko, what will you do?

Yao Guai stood with his arms crossed then sighed as he put right up to his brow. He winced as Soreda apparently took his hints about asking questions to an all new level. He let those who wanted to speak say their piece before saying anything.
__________________You have no idea as to the location of the file. Do you really think they are going to leave signs saying here is the folder that you are supposed to steal. No, if you wish to find out exactly you must determine how to do that yourself. In this case you are pressed for time. Normally you may be able to do some surveillance work which you can still do. There are other means of trying to find the location of your target. They may or may not know you are coming just as in real life. Sometimes things get leaked even from the ninja society. You must be cautious that they have not put any anti-ninja defenses in the building. Never take a mission lightly even if they seem like ordinaries and it should be a piece of cake. Yao Guai rubbed his temple at the next question. You need to get both files because they are different. The contents in the pink folder will not be the same in the computer one. Only the computer has a name. The pink folder should be enough of a clue for the physical one. Yes, lethal force is permitted. No I will not do it for you. Yes there are cameras on the outside, yes I will give a layout of the floor plans and it is up to you to deduce how many guards there are and what security is like inside. There knowledge of the file is unknown. No other teams will be there. You must feel out the threat level on your lives for yourself. Yes, you could try and hack into the computer if you had a wireless computer. None will be provided for you though. Despite the manner in which you posed these questions you did ask some good ones. You may head back into the way we came there will be four boxes with your belongings and com devices if you did not have them. Yao Guai turned towards Nadoka. Motor mouth.. yes that name fits quite well. I am sorry but all I can say is the file name for the computer task and that the physical folder is pink. |

Motoko did what seemed to be the only thing she was any good at doing at this moment: remained quiet. In her mind the less anything was said about what had happened with the written test, the better. Schooling had never been a point of interest for her, and it was that lack of caring that had brought down such a crushing embarrassment on her.
And so, as Motoko remained silent, everyone else did everything they possibly could to squeeze any point of information out of their teacher, especially Soreda. ”Motor-mouth,” Motoko repeated the word in her mind, ”for once I agree with that girl.” Finally, a moment broke between the rapid-fire banter that the others seemed to enjoy so greatly. ”If you decide on a distraction,” Motoko finally spoke, ”I promise that I can provide an unmatchable diversion. One guard dead with a single move and all the others left wondering if the heavens themselves were splitting.” After her confident talk of weeding out the weak ones for the previous test, Motoko couldn’t help but feel a bit worried that her confidence would only destroy her again. However, this time she had something much more powerful than memorized knowledge to rely on. |

Soreda eases away from Nodoka. "Nothing" was not on his list of expected reactions and the boy is quite bewildered. "Without knowing where the folder is it will be hard to put the distraction to good use, you know? Like, sure it'll buy us a minute or two of lowered security, but after that they're going to be more on their guard than they were in the first place. So then if we don't know where to look, that will probably actually make things harder, am I right? There's a lot of ground to cover so I think the first thing we should get straight is just how we're going to find that file. Maybe we should interrogate someone or..." He turns to Yao Guai. "Does the folder have a chakra signature?"

There is no chakra signature. It is an ordinary file. Think carefully, you have many tools at your disposal like a cell phone for instance with internet capability.
__________________(This is the only advice I'll provide. You can use the internet from Soreda's cell to look up company history...after you go and find out the name of the company. What you can do with any info I'll leave up to you. The online search would take 1 hour it's mostly public info.) |

Nodoka brushed Soreda’s arm off her shoulders with a small scoff at his words. She took several steps away from the boy as she took in the bit of further information Yao Guai had given them. “No clue as to the folder’s location in the huge building, huh? I guess it was kinda hoping for too much. Geez, I feel like I’m over thinking things here,” she groaned as she ran a hand through her hair before sighing in frustration.
__________________“And it would be a bit weird if a couple of kids…” she paused to steal a glance in Motoko’s direction, “and an old woman were to walk up and ask to talk to someone inside or ask for some kind of help. And if we can’t leave any trace we were there, that nixes using anything flashy like smoke bombs or spitting fire and the like.” She stopped at the last thing she said, a small thought coming to her. “We could always trigger the fire alarm in the building. That’d get everyone out, but then that’d leave us in a hell of a bind for time to search the entire building before the fire department shows up or people start getting suspicious and come back inside. If we could manage to make sure the fire department can’t do their job of showing up and another person barring the doors once we’re inside, then we could most likely take a bit longer as they try to get in. That just leaves us with the cameras as a problem. We could use shuriken or kunai to take them out, but that might pose a problem if they see the cameras go down. Aw geez.” She angrily scratched the back of her head as she tried to hammer out the details of her make shift plan. ‘Getting in doesn’t seem like too much of a problem. I’ve got two different methods for that. The trouble is trying to figure out how to search ten stories before people show up and notice something is off. That and those damn cameras.’ Heaving a sigh, she looked in the direction there were to head when ready to start their mission. ‘Talk about a difficult task.’ Looking to the others, she muttered a quick, “Be right back,” as she went to retrieve her possessions from the boxes Yao Guai had mentioned. Upon returning, she had one simple thought, which she quickly shared with the rest: “So who has the best web coverage that we can look this place up on?” |
