Even as Alko suggested that they get moving, the other three groups began to disperse, having acquainted themselves with each other thoroughly enough to begin. Two of the groups made their ways back into the inner city of Port Gast, presumably to prepare, rest, and gather any information that might be necessary for the journey ahead of them. The third group, however, made their way to the gates, their traveling gear already in hand. It would be a safe assumption that these were the people that had volunteered themselves as a group.

Already at the head there walked an elf, lightly armored and with a bow slung over his shoulder. Behind him was a large human with an equally large sword and a much smaller human, though they appeared to be nearly the same age. At the back of the group was a long haired half elven woman. She wore a robe, and from the looks of it, it didn't hold any armor underneath. Next to her was a man. Little of him could be seen considering he was hauling a large tent, though. The five of them made their way quickly out the gate and were gone.

The bottom of the sun was nearly touching the tips of the highest peak of The Divide as they left. To any adventurer, this would signify that there were roughly three hours of sunlight left before the Dancing Moon rose from behind the mountain range. The lady moon provides light at night equal to about half that of the sun, but only on nights with few or no clouds. Some adventurers, attuned with the weather as well as the land, may be able to predict what the night's winds might bring.

Survival Check

Severious from common knowledge understands that the weather is going to be odd because of the Dancing Moon, but he takes a few seconds staring into the sky looking at the wind shifts and the clouds. Every good hunter knows which way the wind is going at all times.

Alko merely smiles at Scarface's rejoinder.

The monk watches the five adventurers depart, looking to the

setting sun before turning back to the group.

"Well," she says. "Shall we set out now or wait for the morrow? I'd guess we'd get in only about three hours' traveling before night falls on us." I, for one, she thinks, wouldn't be opposed to picking up more supplies. Especially of a drinkable sort.

(Edit) For her efforts, Alko is rewarded only with a pair of burned retinas.

glancing upwards as well.

"I think it's best to start now...We don't know who, or what took Riloon, or how fast they're moving. It's better if we start following them as soon as possible. The tracks will be easier to follow too." He was eager to get going. In his mind, the faster they got done with this the sooner he could get away from the others.

This might end up being a long trip...Hopefully I can maintain my sanity among these...I don't even know what to call them at this point.

Anders nods in assent "Yes. Best not to let the trail grow cold, and it seems that we are competing in some way. Getting a leg up on the others can only help. In fact, being the second group might be ideal. Ahead of the rest, with one group ahead of us to trigger the traps and alarms all of that nonsense." He strokes his chin with a hand as he thinks some more about it. "Though it seems that if we 'win", we're all stuck owning property together. Not the ideal outcome, but it will have to do. And with that...shall we?" He raises a long arm in the direction of the gate, and gestures towards it.

Severious states with a clear view of certainty,"It will be a clear night, and we don't want to be the last ones on the trail. I suggest we should make haste." The expressions that he used hinted that his own impatience might have influenced his suggestion as waiting a whole hour to partake on this adventure surely would have killed him faster then any poison.

During and after the speech, you might have noticed a tall, somewhat portly man bearing a heavy load of gear, with armor, a warhammer at his side, a shield, and a host of other assorted weapons, giving a speech to the downtrodden who were turned away from the task of rescuing the treasurer. If you were curious, you might have even caught the topic of his speech- virtue and prosperity acquired through ceaseless effort.

At the conclusion of his speech the blond-haired, blue-eyed man even gave his weaponsmithing tools to the crowd of peasants, embarking on another poorly-constructed, incorrectly-phrased but nonetheless passionate speech about the virtues of hard work. Giving most of his money to the destitute of Port Ghast, finally the man runs up just as the group of adventurers were leaving the city, ashamed at having gotten so carried away by his pontificating.

"Huff.... puff.... Sorry for my lateness. I am Centripus of Moradin. That's right, of Moradin! The crafter of all that is good. Please accept my assistance as we find the treasurer together. Ahem," he says as he looks around, hefting his gear. "By Moradin's beard, I certainly hope those peasants make good on their promise to take up the forge and make something of themselves. With his blessing, by the time I return they'll have a right shop going."

"By the way, I'm not much for slinking around but if there's something needs bashing, I'm your man. Nice to meet you all," he says going up to all of the shorter-than-average characters to hug each of them in turn. He's less expansive with the humans and elves, offering only a stout handshake.

"The Lifeyes formerly of Andris, unfortunately. Hard times have fallen on my family, and restoring their good name is a part of what leads me to be on the road here. I suppose you went to the Academy there? I visited a handful of times, but I can't say it ever suited my taste. Too many people getting not enough exercise; not to cast any aspersions on your obviously healthy physique, but that place put out more portly, palid scholars than all the libraries of Andrisia. What did you say your family was?"
Begining to warm up to the company, and especially looking forwad to introducing himself (at length) to the girl with the fiddle, he wasn't paying too much attention when a metal-clad dwarf suddenly tackled him from behind. His first instinct, thrashing wildly while clawing for his axes and snarling like a caged beast was fought down over the couple of seconds it took him to be sure the newcomer was merely overly forward, and not actually attacking him. That established, he withdraws a step to catch his breath for a moment, before offering a florid bow of apology, and then remembering to wipe the spittle from his lips and smooth what hairs escaped their careful confinement. It shall be a pleasure to fight along side you, I'm sure." Expanding his bow to include the girl A bard? I hope she's a bard. he introduced himself again. "I am Chayim Lifeye, Keen Edge of the Morning, at your service. Now, the afternoon is yet young - shall we away?"
He drew his blade with a flair to point at the gate, eager for the hunt.

The burly, blond-haired and blue-eyed, 6' tall human (though he does sport a small beard) chuckles mightily. "Chayim Lifeye, Keen Edge of the Morning! Why that's a glorious title if I ever heard one. So glad to meet you. I'm sure it will be a pleasure working with you. My name's Centripus. Hey! Is that a flute I hear?"

Centripus, the muscular human who appears to revere Moradin moves forward towards the source of the music and smiles approvingly. "I didn't know rescuing the treasurer would be such a grand adventure! Where's he being held, a theater?"

Alko steps in, explaining, "Apparently this treasurer extraordinaire has been taken inland, towards the Divide. Or so I've been told." The monk throws a quick smile at the disgruntled elven rogue.

Shaking the newcomer's hand, she continues, "Pleased to meet you. You can call me Alko, follower in the way of the drunken fist." Noting his impressive and wide-ranging assortment of gear, she decides that Handyman will be an apt name for the tall man.

To no one in particular, the sobering woman states, "Alko here is ready when you are. What say we rescue our unfortunate, coin-counting friend?"

"Aye, let's be off...I'd rather getting going now before there's nothing left to find..." Not bothering to introduce himself to the other new person, Artemis starts walking off ahead of the others, obviously growing impatient. As he draws closer to the gate, he turns and looks at the others, whistling loudly.

"Well? Are you people coming or what? We don't have all day you know!"

Answering Chayim, Anders says, with some hesitation, "Auric. Anders Auric. Yes...those Aurics. The Senator is my father." He nods, and abruptly changes the topic. "And yes. I must say the Academy does have its share of plobby little wizards in training who are obsessed with using "Mage Hand" to fetch everylittlething for them, showing off their insignificant arcane talent as they lay there, motionless in their seats. I, however, did not join them. A walk is good for the body and mind, I say, and while not particularly strong, I am quite fit."

Anders saw the last newcomer arrive, and answered his question about where this treasurer was being held with a dry deadpan answer, devoid of any emotion. "A theater. Yes. How wonderfully merry." he shakes his head and furrows his brow at all of the antics going on about him. This was not a party, nor should it be treated as one. Simply put, this is business transaction with lives at stake. If no one else would treat it with that solemnity, at least he would. With that, he trudged towards the gate, his head held high, ready for The Divide.

As the first of you move towards the gate, the group that had set out before you instead of heading back into town can be seen far up the road. The road between your two groups is relatively straight, but they suddenly disappear, presumably into the forest that surrounds the road on both sides. The sun is dipping slightly lower now, and the very bottom of it is hidden behind the mountains of The Divide. As you pass through the gate, you can hear the clinks of builder's hammers on various materials as they build the second watch tower. The two guards that sit atop the original guard tower wave and shout words of encouragement from their perch as they see the first of your group begin to exit the city.

The darkening day takes a second before the moonlight devours the sky. The sun is down now, and the rivers glisten in reverence to the moon. The first time the road reaches a bridge Severious takes a second, pausing as he is firmly in front of the party. Chrep chrep the sound blends into the night, blanketing with the other ambient noise. At first the sound was coming from aside the road, then it came from a distant log nestling the outskirts of the woods. Chrep! this time it came from Severious, and some of the others heard the odd little fellow mimicking the animals. Severious resembled that of a child walking by a field of cows. Out of compulsion and no other reason, the child moo's echoing and almost trying to provoke an impossible to understand language as a response. Other sounds echo'd loudly as his senses were on the hunt. Severious sight pierced the fail of darkness, and his hearing readied itself against any new sound and what they might bring.

Severious started off in front and every step became quicker and quicker, finally he would stop and wait for the group and repeat the continuous cycle. This last cycle Severious began to think about the group as whole. As the resident survivalist Sev was afraid that someone wouldn't make it on their journey, and it would be forever cased in his self inflicted blame. He awaited for the first member of the group to approach in a complete and memorizing silence, staring into the woods as if waiting for something to attack.

Artemis wasn't finding it hard to keep up with the halfling, already used to moving quickly and being able to see a bit better at night. He slows down when he sees Severious stopping, and comes to a halt next to him. He crouches down, not to mock his height but to keep himself a smaller target, just in case there was something out there.

"So, are we just running into the night or is there something you're following?" An actually question for once. Artemis's skills weren't too handy when it came to following people he can't see, so he had no choice but to trust the survivalist in this matter.
