If you begin at a higher level, the standard rules are indeed 1 item of your level +1, 1 item of your level -1, 1 item of your level and gold equal to the value of an item of your level -1. However, I will only allow this if everyone is agreed to start at level 3. I can't have half the team with level 4 items and the rest at 100 gp starting gear. Secondly, I am considering going with d20M rules for wealth rather than the tedium of keeping track of gold. How do you guys feel about that? Shunoshi:You do not need to finalise a build at this point (though do check out the updated House Rules section for modern martial builds). You can submit a character and update your post with a build later. Last edited by Lithium Flower; 06-03-2010 at 05:19 PM. |

I made my submission. As I said, my character is mostly finished. Just equipment and level specific stuffs if we're to start out higher. You're the DM, so what you say goes in my book. If you want us level 3, I'll be level 3. If 1, I'll be 1.

I like the d20 wealth rules. Since we're in modern times it makes sense

I'm fine with d20 Wealth. Take a little bit to get used to, but seems an interesting and fine way to go about it.

I'm cool with d20m wealth checks. It's just new, and I need to read about it.
__________________First off, a question about the new (old) wealth system. I understand how it works with all the items, and I'll be rolling for my wealth as soon as we decide on whether to start at level 1 or 3. But for something bigger, like a car, something that our characters could have spent years paying for already, do we have to factor that into our starting equipment? Or would the DC check be something too high for a level 1, and we're all going to be taking the bus. Or are we going to just have some sort of Dbeyond mystery machine to roll around in. I ask mainly because I included a souped up car in my character's background. Something he's rebuilt from the ground up over the years because he's really into muscle cars. Even if we aren't ever going to really use them, I'd just like it for flavor. It would come in handy if we got ourselves into a high speed chase, but that's not even why I want the car, lol. second, a Question about your update in the rules section regarding leaders. in D20M your skills list is dictated by your hero type and your profession. As a dedicated hero, in the class skill list is spot and listen, which is the equivalent to 4e perception. Also under the religion profession, listen is in their class skills. Though, in 4e, the cleric class doesn't have perception as a class skill. So as a dedicated hero who's classed as a leader with a religious profession, can I take perception as one of my starting skills? Also I wanted to take repair as a skill. I figured that since dwarves are naturally mechanically inclined, taking the repair skill wouldn't be far off from reality. Especially since he's a motorhead to begin with. Neither perception nor repair is in your leader's class skill list. So I was just wondering if I could take those. Last edited by juxtaposition; 06-05-2010 at 04:39 PM. |

Ok. New theory on the d20m wealth system. I like it, but with concessions. some of it doesn't make sense. With a +7 wealth bonus, your character is supposed to be middle class, and afford things under $50 dollars without worrying. And I quote "He can afford a meal at a good restaurant, a ticket to a basketball game, and buy himself a new video game pretty much anytime he wants."
__________________Yet casual clothes are a DC of 8! They compare it to credit. If i have a wealth bonus of 7, and I'm buying something with a wealth DC of 8, then I have to put it on credit and my wealth bonus goes down to 6. What I don't get, is how I can afford to go to a basketball game, or buy a video game anytime I f*ing want, yet I can't afford jeans and a t-shirt..... So I guess what I'm saying is, with this system, IMO mundane **** should be given to us. Like the clothes on our backs. Last edited by juxtaposition; 06-03-2010 at 11:07 PM. |

Oo Maybe they're namebrand? And perhaps the videogames are preowned, and the basketball seats are at teh local high school. That and whenever I go clothes shopping, I can never just buy 1 shirt. I have to get the pants to go with it :P

I think there the elven equivalent of abercrombie. Guns, and armor, and bullet proof vests are definitely not under 50 dollars.

Heh, I forgot to attach Public Permission to view. Should work now. If it doesn't, then I'm out of ideas.
