Here Is what i posted in The App Forum. When i get around to formally writing up my scribbled notes about the world, I'll make this thread much better.
Around 100 years have past since the great war of the gods, that had Decimated the lands.
3 Major gods remain, Many minor gods have gone into hiding. (Any god you want, or create your own) Allia, Goddess of Healing, law, good, and protection - L-G Hogcob, God of Luck, Magic, Knowledge and Travel - Neutral Xannax, God of Death, Destruction, Evil, and Chaos - C-E
The War had torn the kingdoms of man and elf apart, many minor demigods jousted for power, setting their minions at war with each other. The Dwarfs fought bitter civil wars, separating the bloodlines and leaving much animosity between them. Other races fared similarly, Some being persecuted by Righteous men, or torn apart by bitter claims at power. The Gnomes, being godless beings, suffered little, but pulled away from the world, becoming xenophobic, and untrusting of the more easily influenced races of the world.
After the Great struggle, many of the ancient Chaos gates were buried, or otherwise abandoned. The Gnomes, though xenophobic were also rather greedy, and some entrepreneurial Gnomes set out and reactivated a chaos gate between the kingdom of Lanra of men, and the City of Sanaria of the Elves. Charging a fare to travel through, of course. Since both Cities fall under the rules of Clerics of Allia, it was safe and very profitable to do so. The Elves and men began trading, and more chaos gates were then being sought out to be reactivated.
Most of the world information has be lost during many years of war, spread of misinformation and etc. It is Known that the world is very spread out, and traveling on foot/ship takes a large amount of time. OOC maps and etc will come available when the game opens and progresses.
I plan to open up new gates as players advance. (Which will allow me to tailor areas just for you) (This also means your histories can be fairly open, since most of the world hasn't be built in detail)
Chaos Gates:
Chaos gates are Large Black Circles(Think Stargate if you've seen it), With Golden runes inscribed upon them. Typically they Are mounted on stone platforms, Allowing for easy transportation. They are virtually indestructible. They were Created Many years before the war of the gods, and all the lands of the world were fairly unified, or at least mostly peaceful.
When activated by a Chaos archivist, Creates a Stable Portal to another Gate as if both gates occupied the same space. Most Gates require An Archivist Altar to activate it. Though it's rumored that the gnomes are working on a portable device. The portal is bi Directional, and displays a visual representation of the other side. Gates that are buried, or are blocked by certain materials will not activate. Gates shut down at will by the Archivist, or automatically 1 minute after the Archivist stops operating the Alter(thus allowing the Archivist through).
[FIELDSET="Basic Game info"] Role Play vs Roll Play vs ???? Play

Campaign Style: Mostly open to player's choice. Start is designed and I would like players to play along for the opening.(Just to get used to each other and get the Kink's worked out, or to see if the game is a non start) But after that it's fair game to take or leave opportunities.
Posting Rate: 1/day
During combat, I will update daily, update time will be determined once the game is setup to best accommodate all players. (If timezones work, I may update twice a day if players agree)
Non combat, I will update as often as players post, but no less than once per two days.
About me, The DM: I'm a experience DnD Player, going from 2e to 3.5e. I've DM'd Some in the past, though fun, the games never picked up steam as I never built a world for my characters to roam. I'm fairly new to PbP, But i'm confident I can give you a great gaming experience. I really like the oh this one time I did xxx epic thing stories, and I hope to create some with you.
I'm going to be ignoring Weight from items, weapons and armor. This is for simplicity mostly, I expect you to be reasonable about what you can and cannot carry. (No you can't make a character who holds 27 Great swords and hurls them at his opponents.)
I normally won't be tracking food/water. I assume you can find it or buy it most of the time.
If your in a situation where it becomes an issue, I'll assume you each start with 10days of food and water(including for any mounts/henchmen etc). also I won't expect you to declare Torches, I don't expect much dungeon crawling, and when there is, I'll assume you have torch light.
Special Rules for Casters:
All Casters will have a free Eschew Components.
When you can cast Spells of the level (x*2+3), You can cast large numbers of spell level x, and spontanously cast them. Sorcerers, double your max number known of that level when it happens, and can completely swap your known spells at that level when you gain this access.
For example, when you can cast 3rd level spells, lvl 0 spells are free. when you can cast 5th level. lvl 1 spells are free. When you can cast 7th level, lvl 3 spells are free. 9th and 4th.
This is to represent your Mastery of magic, where weaker magic is a non thought.
There are restrictions, Particularity healing magic, and other abuses I haven't thought of yet.
(such as spell that have multiple targets/level, or Meta Magics)
For those thinking, BY ODIN's BEAR, I'm making a caster for sure now. Non Casters will be getting awesome perks too.
A Couple more things, I'm giving enhanced XP through untill 5th Level. I want to get characters moving along towards their goals quickly. I also will be pulling punch's untill then. after that, things will slow down and become deadly. The reason I'm not just starting at 5th level is I want to see how your characters develop and interact, and grow together.
Since the world was warring with many gods and other powers. Magic is in abundance, and many magical items will not be uncommon.
I'm pretty loose about combat movement and battle. I will be specific and do grid based if my players want, or during times where it, really matters.
My rules for writing standards are simple. If I can understand you, and I don't get "complaints" from anyone, we're good.
