[sorry for delay, super busy]
__________________You miss Eyoras' bulging arm, piercing the wooden floor with a loud THUD. You react quickly to a backhanded strike aimed at knocking you away, pulling the dagger out of the floor and jumping backwards in one swift motion. A flash of steel to the right catches your eye and you behold, with little joy, that the swordsman has dispatched the last doppelganger, and is conspicously eyeing your wounded friend. Determined to sedate the powerful beast, you charge your companion yet again. Dice Roll:

You implant the dagger, rather haphazardly, into Eyoras right forearm, not exactly where you had intended to go, and missing any major veins. You back away cautiously as Eyoras lets out a feral yell, though from rage or pain you aren't sure.
__________________You look to the swordsmans emotionless face and purse your eyebrows in anticipation of his words Just back away, it might be enough to sedate him, though it may take longer, or he may die. You back yet further away from Eyoras, taking a seat on the floor near the door. You're thoroughly exhausted, famished and just now feeling the extreme pain in your ribs, and you are in constant fear of what may happen to Eyoras, and to what the motives of the swordsman are, though for now he simply watches in quiet vigil dangerously close to Eyoras. Many long minutes past, though exactly how long you can't be sure. At first it seems as though the dagger was doing nothing and Eyoras was in his death throes, at one point becoming completely still to where you were sure he was dead. You sit quietely for a minute, contemplating all you had been threw in the brief few days since meeting him, tears welling in your eyes, though swordsman seems emotionless and still unmoving. Clearing the tears from your eyes, you look back to Eyoras one final time, and hope comes to you. You notice that he has shrunk to his usual size, and his previously hairy, beastlike coat has returned to that of a hairy human. You jump to your feet to see if he is alive, and before you arrive you can see him shivering in the dim light. He has apparantly unconsciously pulled the dagger from his arm, as it lays beside him in a pool of black ichor. He is still badly, possibly mortally wounded, and it is obviously unlikely he survive if he stays here much longer. The swordsman holsters his weapon and approaches the two of you. Aetheorcyn's tired eyes scanned his friend's body.
__________________He needs some help. Curse my shortness. The little gnome turned to the approaching swordsman, finally becoming wary of his presence and readying himself for possibly a losing fight. Thanks so much for your help, my friend. If you hadn't have arrived here in time, both Eyoras and I would be goners. What brings you in here, anyway? |

The swordsman cocks an eye, as though you weren't going to quite believe his words
__________________Well....as odd as it sounds....A cat hired me; He wanted me to retrieve some sort of crystal sphere, and offered a bonus if I could rescue for him an Elf and a Gnome that had gone inside. I didn't quite understand what he meant by "rescue" at the time, but I certainly see now.... I'd love to stay and chat but I'd better see if I can find that crystal before more of those things show up. The swordsman turns to leave, though it is quite plain that he is talking about the object you retrieved from the fleshy room Last edited by alphawolf29; 11-11-2010 at 12:53 AM. |

__________________Aetheorcyn grinned and reached into his pocket, pulling out the spherical object and holding it out in his hand. Already got it, my friend. Was in a pool of acid that solidified when I removed it. I know your employer, and I'm glad to have met him at this point. Looking to his unconscious friend, Aeth knelt down and gave him a shake. Come on, sir. We must leave this place. |

The only reply you receive is a wet, sickly gargle.
__________________Look...I don't really have time for this. The swordsman lets out a sigh and sheaths his curved longsword in a long, dark leather scabbard at his hip, beneath red, hip hung lower robes. The mans impressive physique easily vaults Eyoras onto his shoulders. The grizzled warrior begins walking towards the door, but turns to you before exiting. Burn this place to the ground...keep the orb for now; meet me outside....Don't take too long, I'm sure the town guard don't' take kindly to people burning taverns to ashes, regardless the reason. Aetheorcyn nodded grimly to the strong man, quickly setting about knocking over torches and lanterns around the room. Before the fire had started up too much, he made his way to the exit, as well.

You make your way down the road, following the Swordsman and Eyoras at a sizeable distance, the pale red morning dawning over the snowy mountains to the north, the color enhanced by the now blazing building a half kilometer behind you. You take the quiet, almost solemn, moment to reflect on the events, sofly palming the black 'pearl' in your pocket. You feel relieved that you've escaped the inn alive, though you hope wherever you're going you get an explanation as to what has been going on here, as you feel the events you've experienced since your arrival in town aren't simply coincidence.
__________________without much comprehension, as you had nearly been sleep-walking, you arrive to a familiar place. The same run-down, dank, and dirty shop where you encountered the small demon. You follow the man inside, and several un-expected things await you in the main room of the shop. One, the first person you notice, is the dwarven alchemist, a serious look upon his face. The second, the odd, talking, cat, simply sitting on the countertop. The third, and possibly most startling, is the lizard-like demon, once again caged, and apparanty subdued. You can see the morning light seeping through the cracks in the wall in brilliant rays, revealing the floating dust your arrival has upheaved. The swordsman lay eyoras onto the main clerical counter, and you recieve a peculiar look from the cat, almost though it was looking towards you in a gentle smile. The cat speaks to you, taking the occasional pause to absently tend to its paws Mmm, I'm quite sure you might have a few questions, so, rather then attempt to explain, ask away! |

Aetheorcyn's eyes were intensely heavy, and he had the urge to ask "Where's the nearest bed?". Too many things ate at his mind, however, and he decided to take a more serious approach.
__________________First, good cat demon, I want to thank you for sending aid. And thank you, as well, sir. He nodded to the man with the sword. Aeth went on to ask a number of questions, one at a time- patiently waiting for an answer before moving on to the next. |

(long post, don't be afraid to ask for clarification OOC)
__________________Obviously appreciative of your curt and businesslike questions, answers them all in turn What have you been up to since the last time we saw each other? The cat blinks several times, as if pondering an intricate puzzle in its mind. Well, I honestly didn't set off to help you right away, I'd come to Brutvahld in search of a magical item of certain interest to me, and apparently to you too, the very one in your pocket. This is what lead to my visiting of the town mage, and my subsequent imprisonment! Such disrespect! After several days in the cage, it seemed like the girl was preparing to hastily summon something; never a good idea, mind you. I know now, after scouring the shop after your departure, that the girl had driven herself into a paranoiac fervor. She had stumbled upon the presence of the doppelganger coven by a simple scrying spell, and had thought me sent to spy on her, and intended to summon a powerful magical artifact to combat them. Again, the object in your pocket. What the fool girl did not expect however, was two events that would accompany the summoning of the artifact. One, her immediate and irrevocable disintegration, and two, the summoning of dear Qixthyl here. The doppelgangers were quite afraid of this object, and, aware of her knowledge of the coven all along, apparently, snatched it up after our mutual departure! I don't know how we missed it, truthfully! This all only became clear after I decided to come visit you in the inn; and something was clearly wrong. What's your name, Swordsman? The swordsman first looks to the cat, the cat responding with a curt nod I am Anshar Dhamesh, of the house of The Heron Gift, far to the south. We rent our services to dispose of certain types of....infestations. What is going on in the town, and what did Eyoras and I get into? Apparantly, the Doppelgangers were in the beginning stages of setting up a coven in town; had I not such a knowledge of other shape shifters, they would have been impossible to detect. (I'm sure you'd ask this) What is this Pearl? Can it help us? Why do you want it? I'm not exactly sure what it is, though I know it comes from one of the outer planes, and I know it is potently magical. Yes, actually! I believe the pearl can either suppress or enhance shape-shifting; another reason why the doppelgangers wished it to be in their possession. I know, in it's current form, and how the doppelgangers were using it, it can enhance my abilities to quite a degree. I believe we can alter it to suppress your disease, as i'm sure it is magical in nature. (To the dwarf) What do you have to do with this all? Aye, I believe I can'a alter it te' help ye, though I know I need the blood of a planar creature te do anythin'..... Aye never seen somethin' from te' planes... it is an honor just te see this thing....can we see it? |

Aetheorcyn looked around at the rag-tag group of beings he'd come across thus far. He glanced over to his friend, Eyoras, to see how he was faring.
__________________Well, these dubious characters have, indeed, helped me. I still feel it prudent to exercise caution, however. His gaze changed directions and settled on the caged creature. Qixthyl, I can't say it's a pleasure to see you again. Aeth gave the cat a questioning look. Withdrawing the black pearl from his pocket, he held it up for everyone in the room to see clearly. Although fatigued from his long day, the young gnome attempted to keep his wits about him, watching the reactions of each. You remember how cautious I was upon first meeting you, my friend. That hasn't changed. If this is an object of powerful magic, I feel it important to not let it reach the wrong hands. Can any of you tell me anything further about it? |

As you produce the pearl from your pocket, you watch the reactions of everyone in the room.
__________________Anshar, on the whole, looks disinterested in the object. It is fairly clear he is here for a paycheck and nothing more. The dwarf, upon seeing the object, squints for a better look The cat, the most interested of all, begins to purr almost inaudibly Qixthyl appears unconscious in the cage, apparantly subdued somehow. Eyoras looks to be in bad condition, though the bleeding has stopped, and it is clear that if you want to save him, and possibly yourself, you might not have any choice but to hand over the pearl to this strange crew The cat adresses you very matter-of-factly No, we don't really know much more about the object, but I think we can split it in three pieces. The two for you and your friend, and one for myself. The pieces for you will be treated by the alchemist here to reverse their effects, to supress the shape changing effects within you. Bear in mind this will not cure you, if either of you lose posession of your pieces the transformation will start again. |

Aetheorcyn nodded soberly while listening to the cat and looking at Eyoras.

The dwarf gleefully grabs the object from you and begins examining it meticulously with a small magnifying glass that he retrieved from his pocket.
__________________You feel the tension and stress dissipating as the dwarf examines the pearl, for the simple fact that you've not been attacked yet, and see little reason why they would do such a thing after you had given them the object. You take a gander around the room, examining the inhabitants for little reason other then to pass the time while the dwarf works. ; Eyoras and the sleeping creature are much in the same position, while the swordsman has started leaning on the wall in an almost rest-like state, again wearing the robes you first saw him with. The cat watches the dwarf almost as intently as the dwarf examines the pearl. After several minutes, the dwarf silently produces a small inscribed bowl, which looks to be made of copper, or possibly brass, and pours two seperate vials together into the bowl. One with a thick, black oily substance, which smells like hot blood, presumably earlier extracted from the demon, and a white, liquid metallic substance, the origin of which you aren't entirely sure. Surprisingly, the mixture turns into a bright yellow with the consistancy of a melted metal. The dwarf pulls yet another object from his long coat, this time a very miniature rock pick, the kind of which is used by many gnomish geologists. You're almost positive that the tip of the pick is diamond. With the pick the dwarf traces the pearl into 3, completely equal pieces and taps the intersecting points. With that, it peels apart almost like the innards of an orange. The dwarf places two of the black sections into the bowl, the yellow liquid barely covering the top. Aye, i'm not really sure ow' long this takes, but we'll giv'er a minute. If this works, where de ye plan te' go next? After a few moments of drowsy silence, you realise the dwarf is probably talking to you. |
