Listening to all the bickering was fine, Le'Dant wasn't truly concerned about who got who, aslong as they got the officer back alive. "Perhaps if we simply broke his fingers." Suggest the cleric, not too concerned about how that sounded. "Lets not forget the power that we saw that man demonstrate before many of us here. We cannot underestimate him, besides, if things do go smoothly, then their own healers should be able to fix him up." He looks at Wes, the man seems to be tired, asking about their quarters.
__________________"It might be a good idea to talk somewhere we won't be overheard. Again, we don't know who all is truly loyal to who. As a matter of fact, some of us might not even be sure who we are loyal too." He says, shaking his head and moving to return to the groups quarters. |

"If there's a question of loyalty, let me make my stance quite clear," Midge piped up. "I'm loyal to my home and my people. That is, Marali itself. As long as Birek is intent on tearing this people apart, I stand against him."

SammThaa stays rooted to where he stands and stares at Midge. "Midge? You dare insult me? You, who did not even know what he carried in his own pack, claim I lack intelligence? No superior officer has proclaimed you battle master of grand tactician in my presence. You have produced no plan better than me. I think it is in your best interest to apologize now."

Never making it more than a few steps, the words of Midge were somewhat comforting, though he never thought out right anyone would kill someone in the group to say the least. Nonetheless, the moment of relief from the statement were quickly wisped away as the larger of the two new members of the squad turned somewhat violent. "By the Blinding Light, he can't be serious!"
__________________Turning slowly, one hand on his morningstar, he hesitantly lifts his eyes to look upon the two. He knew what he would have to do if it came to violence, but he knew he wouldn't enjoy any of this. "SammThaa, I don't think this is worth arguing over, the statement was said in the heat of debate, you shouldn't linger on it." He looks to Midge, hoping that the man will be willing to help him defuse the situation. "Right Midge, you didn't mean it." |

"Course I didn't mean it," Midge says. "Just heat of the moment."
Switching to orcish, "I warned you about communicating poorly. Clearly you're no wiser than you are intelligent. If you want to know what's in my pack so badly, just ask." |

Bartholamew eyes the map SammThaa hands him, taking his time in studying the document while the others talk amongst themselves. The only time Bart speaks up is to say, " I will allow nobody to cause unjust harm to our prisoner. Take the thoughts of breaking bones or suturing anything closed out of your minds."
__________________He stays to himself during the rest of the conversation, obviously contemplating something. He eyes the situation between Midge and SammThaa, speaking up after Midge. " I suggest those of you who wish to plan this out anymore go with Le'Dant and discuss among yourselves, SammThaa, why don't you join them please. " Bart states politley, trying to break up the two. " Midge, please accompany myself. " |

Best I not go to the stockade for striking the fool.
__________________SammThaa does not switch to Orcish. "That was no apology. Just further insult in another language. To the rest of you, best of luck in your planning. I will be at the meeting spot that was earlier agreed to, at nightfall." The large man walks off, as no one here can order him otherwise. |

Midge turned red as he realized he'd been understood. During the Dark Times, the drow had mostly spoken undercommon and variants of goblinoid languages. Many people in Marali who had lived through those days learned those languages. Few bothered with the much cruder orcish tongue, which, together with its rough sounds, was why it was such a good one for insults.
"Very well Barty," Midge says to the paladin, composing himself again. "Let's go see Stormbrow and see what we can get him to tell us." |

Deciding that letting the irate member of the group walk off alone was probably a bad idea, he decides to go with him, if only to keep the man from hurting someone else. "I wish I knew a way to channel that rage against our enemies instead of our friends." He thinks as he follows a few steps behind the large man, not really liking his attitude at the moment. "Pelor, I know it wasn't his companion that died in that street, but you'd think for the sake of camaraderie, he would focus on killing or injuring the enemy, not our own."
__________________With a hint of hope in his voice, Le'Dant talks to SammThaa, that maybe he can bridge the gap growing in the groups ranks. "Listen, I don't know what was said to you, but I know that Midge wasn't actually trying to insult you, it's his nature, how he was brought up." He shrugs, knowing the large man can't see him do it, and cocks his head to one side. "I hope you can overlook his ways, cause I know despite his words, you can trust him when it counts, and that says a lot." His eyelids close for a second, knowing that his words might be falling on deaf ears. "Either way, I lost one squad member who was by themselves recently, I'd like to stick around to make sure it doesn't happen again, ok?" He says, continuing to follow the large man. SammThaa does not slow his pace, nor does he turn to face the man following him. "It is only because your one friend died, and another room was overcrowded, that we are in the same grouping now. To be referred to as unintelligent in the Common tongue, and unwise in the Orcish language...in the same day, by the same man...is insulting."
__________________He turns a corner, and soon steps out of the building, continuing to talk as he walks. "So you know, I had wanted to continue my explanation of tactics. To tell of how in my graduating class, those who were in close ranks with me, melee specialists, were graded more effective during training exercises. But your associate decided to dismiss my ideas because I tend to not use so many big and pretty words in speaking. You think you can trust him, good for you. You want to keep him safe, here is some advice to share." SammThaa finally stops. He turns just enough to look Le'Dant in the eyes. "Unless you want a fight, never use Orcish words to insult someone who is Orc Blooded." |

"Then I'm sure you know that fighting amongst ourselves is not a wise plan, even if your the one who was insulted. I believe you have admirable skills in many things, but we simply can't afford to be fighting right now." He says trying to pace the man. "Besides, I'm not sure he knew that your orcish, I mean, the look on his face was somewhat priceless when you responded." He says with a chipper smile on his face, after-all, no need for him to be upset about this, so far, it had not come to blows.
__________________"Though I am only one, why not continue your conversation on tonights plans with me, perhaps we can set something up to aid us tonight." As the two rounded another corner on the street. "What else should one use other than orcish to speak to someone with orc blood? I mean I have human blood and I speak common, should one not insult me in my own language?" Last edited by Aedur; 07-20-2010 at 06:52 PM. |

Wes strolls along with Midge and Bartholamew as they make their way to Stormbrow's cell, believing that the planning can be done at another time, or with his two current companions. Curious about Mr. Stormbrow, Wes asks "So what is known about this Stormbrow, other than his talents as a mage? If something is known of his affiliation, it may help us to find out what we're up against."

" My personal opinion, " Bart states while walking with Midge and Wes, " is that he is an accomplished arcane artist. I do not know how powerful, but last night I saw him fling a man across the tavern with a bolt of lightning. " Bart pauses his talking to think for just a moment. " I had a conversation with him in his cell last night after he was arrested at the tavern for conspiracy against Lady Vaup, and he seemed sure of himself and confident. Not at all as one would act when being held prisoner normally. That makes me believe he either viewed himself capable of escape or had knowledge, or at least enough faith in his fellows, that he would be rescued or broke out. "
__________________Bart thinks to the conversation he had with Stormbrow the night previous. " He also claims to have rescued the Royal Wizard with Birek when he was in trouble. If that's any further testament to his power. " |

SammThaa stops. "Fighting? By this you mean arguing? You want me to know about how Midge was brought up, so as to excuse his ways? The way I was brought up, many orcs in the tribe. Fighting means bloodshed, not arguing. Your friend talk like that to me two winters ago, he would not be standing soon afterwards. But now, I follow a higher path, so I am able to walk away."
__________________He scans the skies, determining how long till nightfall. "You not worry. I be there at midnight. I stand in middle like the enemies expect. You see, group like that, has to be one or two that think they are tough guys. So they have to try to take down the biggest guy on the battlefield, so to speak. I will be the target for them, spear them if need be. Your associates place themselves wherever they want. But know this...you get hurt really bad, you stand close to SammThaa. My higher path allows for some healing." |
