Post of the Year Winner Announced!
Feb 02, 2017 - 1:49 AM - by Nimlos
For those of us judging the Post of the Month and Post of the Year contests, the end of one year and the beginning of another means we're faced with the fiendishly difficult but immensely enjoyable task of deciding which one stood out above all the others, of choosing which single post represented the best work done on the site for all of 2016.

Selecting the best from the best is never easy, but finally a consensus was reached.

Please join the judges in congratulating our Post of the Year winner for 2016 - zany!

You can read zany's winning post here.

Here is what we wrote when zany won for November: Zany's post seems pretty simple. But it's the simplicity that really resonated with our judges. An unusual character with an unusual point of view, and it truly stands out in every word of this post. Without being overt or showy, this post gives us a wonderful insight into Jack's personality, his past, his preconceptions, and sets the table for something interesting and transformative to come. Very nice work.

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to nominate posts for this year, and of course thanks to everyone who wrote those wonderful posts. We're accepting entries now for the February Post of the Month contest,... [Read More]
Post of the Month Winner Announced!

Post of the Month Winner Announced!

And just like that, another year of the PotM contest comes to a close. 2016 is in the books.

Now, with no further delay: the Post of the Month winner for December 2016 is ... Inem!

You can read the winning entry here. Please congratulate Inem for this exemplary work.

There's opportunity in every roll of the dice. Sometimes, what sets a post (or a player) apart is finding the "role" opportunity inside that roll. When confronted with an unexpected encounter, Inem managed to turn what could have been a wholly pedestrian set of skill rolls into an engaging post, one that not only furthers the story and provides the DM and fellow players a hook for their future posts, but actually expands and enhances the sense of the game world. Plus, it's an exciting read. Well done.

The other nominations for December 2016 can be read here. Each is an exceptional entry and well worth the read.

The PotM contest for January 2017 is going on now. Be sure to nominate your favorite posts from the month of January.

And keep an eye out here to find out who wins the prize for the 2016 Post... [Read More]
The RPG Crossing community raised $925 to ease mental illness!
Jan 06, 2017 - 11:13 AM - by Birched
Thank you for supporting our 5th Annual December Membership Drive and Charity Fundraiser!

Thank you to all those who contributed to our [tt=December Drive]Dec 1 to Jan 5 this year [/tt]! Shirt and art purchases, full year membership purchases, and direct donations resulted in $925 raised to improve the lives of those affected by mental illness. This smashes last year's record, and brings to $2730 the total that we've raised towards mental illness over the past several years ($3080 if we count matching funds for our donations in the first year.) Thanks to the membership purchases (and to a small extent the shirts), we also raised funds to help pay some of RPG Crossing's bills for the next year.

I'd like to extend a special thanks to Louis Porter Jr, Michael McCarthy, Justin Halliday, James... [Read More]
