January Post of the Month
Feb 03, 2018 - 10:32 PM - by dirkoth
January, when things start anew (chronologically), and yet are locked in the dead of frozen winter (for those in the northern hemisphere). If you are in the southern half of the world, it's a time of high summer and heat.

No matter your locale, January was filled with great posts, and many of them were nominated for Post of the Month. And boy, were they GOOD! As a judge, I have to say, I had a really tough time this month. Luckily, I had good help, and between us, we chose the one to win.

I am happy to announce that the Post of the Month winner for January 2018 is ... Sassafrass!

Get on over to read it, and feel the shivers race up your goose-bumped skin. Follow Sass as the words create the slow building tension of a haunted house, complete with creepy poems, unsettling noises, and the realization that some things are not what they seem.

You can read the winning entry HERE, so please, go and enjoy it!

Please congratulate Sassafrass and be sure to enjoy the other nominations from January 2018. You can find them here. Each is an inspirational entry and well worth the read.

The PotM contest for February 2018 is going on now. Be sure to nominate your favorite posts from the month, and let's reward those... [Read More]
Post of the Year (2017) Winner!
Jan 21, 2018 - 7:46 PM - by dirkoth
For the judges the Post of the Month and Post of the Year contests, the end of one year and the beginning of another means we're faced with the fiendishly difficult but immensely enjoyable task of deciding which one stood out above all the others, of choosing which single post represented the best work done on the site for all of 2017.

That's darn near impossible, of course. Selecting the best from the best is never easy, but finally a consensus was reached.

Please join the judges in congratulating our Post of the Year winner for 2017 - Eleven Sided Die!

You can read Eleven's winning post here.

In the post, Eleven wrote of his of his PC Ameya. Ameya is young girl with a traumatic past making a living as a harrow card reader in the slums of Korvosa. Eleven Sided Die took a chance, and did an actual card reading prior to writing and used that as a basis for this post.

Read along, and see how Eleven Sided Die managed not only to make something as trivial as flipping cards on a carpet into an interesting read, but turned it into a bit of insight into who Ameya is and what drives her.

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to nominate posts for this year, and of course thanks to everyone who wrote those wonderful posts. We're accepting entries now for the... [Read More]
Starfinder sheet delay (sorry folks!)
Jan 17, 2018 - 2:19 PM - by Birched
I know I said I've have Starfinder sheets done by Jan 15, but clearly I've missed that mark. Real life has reared ugly heads, I'm afraid, and I've had to set a new goal of a week from today (Jan 24). At that point I hope to have sheets done that are based on our current Pathfinder sheets, and I will post in current Starfinder games and game ads to ask for people to give them a whirl.

Thanks!

December Post of the Month
Jan 08, 2018 - 9:59 AM - by dirkoth
December; A time of year for holidays and family, when you can't swing an RPGX moderator on a rope, without hitting a holiday somewhere. Despite all that, we had some dedicated folks remember the reason for the gaming season, and nominate their favorite post for Post of the Month.

There may not have been many posts this month, but boy, were they GOOD! However, in the end, only one can be chosen, and one was.

I am happy to announce that the Post of the Month winner for December 2017 is ... Wynamoinen!

Go be baffled with Hansi, a poor soldier struggling through a suddenly expanded life, forced beyond his peasant upbringing to learn how to interact with Royalty, and stand among Heroes (with the capital H).

You can read the winning entry HERE, so please, go and enjoy it!

Please congratulate Wynamoinen and be sure to enjoy the other nominations from December 2017. You can find them here. Each is an inspirational entry and well worth the read.

The PotM contest for January 2018 is going on now (as well as the judging for Post of the Year from among the monthly winners of 2017). Be sure to nominate your favorite posts from the month, and let's reward those among us with praise for their prose! They can't win, if you don't do YOUR part, and nominate.
