Announcing the Hall of Fame 2024!

Greetings, Adventurers of RPGCrossing!

As we prepare to embark on an exciting journey to honor the very best games within our community, let us take a moment to reflect on the timeless wisdom of Pericles, the esteemed Athenian statesman. Pericles understood the essence of democracy and the importance of voting in shaping our collective destiny.

Nominations for the Hall of Fame will open to all members of the site on the Ides of March (March 15th) and will continue for four weeks. Following that, we'll have two weeks of public feedback, with the entire community casting their votes. This year, we're introducing exciting new changes to the voting process: You'll be asked to rank at least three nominated games, allowing for a... [Read More]

Better late than never: a huge shoutout to Wynamoinen!!!! They managed to convince the judges of their talent to write the best post in January 2023.
Ofcourse this could not happen without a player who thought this post was impressive, and spent time and effort to nominate this post. To quote [tt=banabadger]our loyal nominater[/tt]: Wynamoinen deftly weaves together several histories and agendas as the pit fight concludes. For some players, the battle of strength and spilled blood is the visceral center of the world, but for others it is merely a sideshow to more subtle and more important power plays. You don't have to know any of the characters' stats or hidden agendas to feel how Wynamoinen's post provides each of them a scene that responds to their actions, places each of them at the center of events, and unfolds numerous possibilities for their next post.

Curious? Yes, I... [Read More]
A heartfelt thank you to some retiring moderators
Feb 14, 2024 - 12:17 PM - by Birched
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I mentioned this in my New Year 2024 post, but I want to separately acknowledge and my deepest gratitude for the contributions of a couple of active moderators of our community who retired recently: Retry, Moderator during 2023; and HenryLockwood, Moderator from 2012 to 2023 (!!).

And I have one more to announce: Aethera will be retiring today, after serving as a volunteer staff member since 2016 (!!). Fun fact: she's one of the few RPG Crossing members that I have met in person (more than once, even!) Aethera, you will be greatly missed!

Their tireless efforts have helped shape our community and make it the wonderful place it is today. Our community members past and present can be grateful to all of these retiring staff members for their hard work and dedication, and I hope they will continue to find time for storytelling, games, and fun at RPG Crossing. We will miss them in the Staff forums, though....

I have created a "Happy retirement thread for Aethera, HenryLockwood, and Retry" to share thanks and memories for any who are interested.

PS Here's a list of current staff members.
Post of the year 2023

A very talented writer once wrote: 'All this effort really paid off -- it is a delight!'. We all agreed at some point in the past, we could see that [tt=the talented writer]Fillyjonk ofc :-)[/tt] words of recommendation were true and sincere and it made a post stand out in the month of February...

In January we asked our valuable and loyal Community supporters to have a concentrated read, twelve posts were up for nomination to become the best post of 2023. Time was taken, energy was spent, a poll was made, and concluded in a result that was beyond clear.

In a small town, Saltmarch the players were asked to explain a red-washed total eclipse of the moon, a challenge that lured players into storytelling. The winner of the Post of the Month 2023 made an impression. To quote Fillyjonk once more:

It comes out of the secretive, snoochy, knitting-obsessed gnome society that has been building for the entire game. Her character has been growing into her role as a hero, pushing back, and Bingle edits the traditional DIRE gnome tale of woe and warning to reflect her movement from terrified runaway to bold adventurer (a shift that is very much

Hey all,

I just sent out all the participant rewards for the 2023 RPG Crossing membership and charity drive. I'm still waiting on the prize from Cawood Publishing (Hirelings & Henchmen) and will send that out as soon as I get it, but didn't want to delay any longer on sending the rest out.

Thank you to everyone who participated, and to the generous publishers who supported our charity work with prize donations! Cawood Publishing, Orcs Unlimited, AAW Games, Mongoose Publishing, and Underground Oracle publishing -- you guys rock! Together, we raised $2361 for charity!

Nice work! I hope you love the prizes!

P.S. Please take a moment to review the prizes if/when you use them!
