Otherwise known as...
The Lair of The Bladed Dragon!!!
The Bladed Dragon (only one has been discovered so far, and refuses to answer by anything else) appears to be a dragon several centuries old. Though it's home is in the distant mountain range known as the Ring of Dragons, it invades the lairs of other dragon rookeries, most particularly the Dungeons of Nether Dragons, Often Grevious (or DNDOG for short).
The Bladed Dragon is anatomically very similar to a silver dragon, though the colouration is slightly less silver and more resembles dull iron. Its name comes from the fact that, instead of a shield-like crest, The Bladed Dragon possesses fine blades all across it's body. Any person who touches the already sharp scales pulls their hand away badly cut, as if from a cheese grater. This doesn't seem to worry The Bladed Dragon, though, who is able to walk, fly and generally move without any difficulty.
As The Bladed Dragon ages, it's breath weapon, a blast of molten iron, develops, though not as powerful or as early as most other breath weapons of the true dragons. The Bladed Dragon, though, has expressed a desire to live peacefully and hone it's singing voice, which rivals a song dragon for sheer beauty, though in much lower tones. This, though, is almost an impossibility, given The Bladed Dragon's habit of seeking out trouble and aiding the forces of good.
Now a fully grown wyrm, The Bladed Dragon has truly come into it's own. An accomplished singer, it weaves arcane power through it's lyrics, often subsonically so as to surprise opponents when magic occurs seemingly silently. Still the only one documented in history, it seems content to live out it's life in solitude, though it has expressed disappointment that there aren't others out there like him.
Those foolish (and evil) enough to threaten The Bladed Dragon face a horrific opponent, capable of bewitching the mind and shredding the body with but a word and a touch. More often, however, he will capture his opponent and make them see the error in their evil ways. It doesn't work very often, but he still tries the gentle way, despite any setbacks.
The Bladed Dragon has not been sighted near the RPG Crossing for years - indeed, many believe that it has left for pastures and tales new. But word is beginning to spread that the gnoll bands that took up the caves in the south have been seen running wild in the lowlands... And that something forced them out...
Anybody who has played the first three Ultima games (great games by any means, but not as good as their sequels... but I digress) will know that Sosaria is the name of the "Pangaea" that the world started off as before splitting into Britannia, Serpent's Isle, the Isles of Pagan and somewhere... else.
The first time I saw the "Sarosian Sig" I thought I misread. Then I thought somebody misspelled. Then I knew that it was me who was mistaken.
So I made mine different. Any problems?

Within the surprisingly well-kept halls of The Bladed Dragon's lair, treasure is not kept idly lying about. No, each major piece of treasure is lovingly kept as trophies. When asked, The Bladed Dragon can name when and where he acquired each piece and why he chose to keep it as a treasure. Come with him, polymorphed into the form of a halfling bard that he likes to call "his social clothes" as he describes his treasured possessions...
Within a small counting room, The Bladed Dragon has stored a respectable collection of gold pieces - 2754, in fact. The Bladed Dragon followed you in and wistfully smiled when you uncovered this piece of history... "Ah,the spoils from my adventures when the world was younger, greener and I was less experienced than I am today. The currency isn't valued in today's society, but I like to keep it around to remind me that I have made my mark in any world, no matter the bearing on this one.
But come. That is old news. I have more, if you would like to see..."
(TRANSLATION: Before "The Big Revamp" to 4.0, I had 2,754 PRXP. Not much, but I like it... especially since my post-to-XP ratio was more than 1-to-3.)
Mixed in with the gold pieces from times past are several gold bars, each stamped with a peculiar seal - that of a dragon's head from the back within a diamond. They feel quite heavy, much heavier than normal gold bars used for trading, but are nonetheless undoubtedly used in trade. "Modern-day money for modern-day uses, my friend." The Bladed Dragon said mirthfully as he takes up another of the bars and hefts it in his hands. "I commissioned a thaumaturge to condense the gold into a heavier, higher carat value than can be found anywhere else. It means that I have less volume of gold, but it's a lot more valuable than simple gold coins you find out there. I'd value them at... oh, say, four gold pieces worth for every ounce of gold. There's a little less than than 300 oz. there, though, but it does add up.
But all that glitters is not gold, you know." The Bladed Dragon says, trailing off as he drops the bar back into the pile and starting to wander back through the lair, "There's gems, steel, magical artefacts..."
(TRANSLATION: Kaiser6012 has 304 total RPXP at the moment. It may not seem like much, but I'm using NEGATIVE XP instead of positive. Among other things, this means that I earn less and, should someone disapprove of my post, lose more. Thus, I feel it's more valuable.
Plus, every now and then someone gives me positive instead of negative XP. It comes with the territory.)
Studded through the walls, the granite statues and all around the main room are literally hundreds of gems. These range from a simple hunk of quartz buried at the base of a now defunct noble named Lord Travelling Foreigner to fabulous emeralds and rubies studded into the large fireplace. A slight grin crosses The Bladed Dragon's face when you notice these beauties. "My pride and joy. Every memory, every action I have ever taken is commemorated by these gems. I'm sure you've noticed that some are... well, they're unremarkable, but that's okay. We all have to take breathers every now and then. Not every task saves the world, you know.
But I still strive. And each gem I find that strikes me with awe, the happier I am. I currently have... ooh, over a thousand. I look forward to the next thousand, and the thousand after that..."
(TRANSLATION: I have made 1,755 posts, some poor, some fantastic. I can't write novel-quality all the time, but I am proud of what I've done well.)
Upon the entrance of the lair, a large, but not overly heavy-looking crystal, slightly thicker at the top than at the bottom and ruddy red in hue like rust hung from the ceiling. The firelight seemed to be drawn into the jewel, bending and twisting within the crystal confines, giving the eye a twinkling quality, as if all it saw amused it somehow. "That," The Bladed Dragon says respectfully as it steps in beside you, "is the Eye of Avandra. One of my devotees, Crucas Meynall the Dragon-Fanged, rescued that from a rather nasty wyrmling who had found it in a tomb dedicated to the Maimed Lord. He recovered it, returned it and told me about the trophy so I could commemorate his triumph over evil. Crucas has a copy now, I believe, and I have a copy here.
Come... it's time for tea..."
(TRANSLATION: Crucas Meynall The Dragon-Fanged recovered the Eye of Avandra from the lair of a young red dragon, setting the fears of clergymen to rest and confirming his reputation as a stalwart foe of evil and tyranny everywhere, particularly when servants of Tiamat are involved.)
As the fires flicker down into embers and The Bladed Dragon forgoes his stories for looking into the fire, your gaze naturally follows. What surprised you was what appears to be the handle of a beautifully wrought iron sword hanging at the back of the fireplace. Despite the heat, the steel doesn't appear to have lost it's temper, though the whole thing is blackened with soot.
The Bladed Dragon noticed where you were staring, and sighed heavily. "My trophy, if you could call it that, from an endeavour I attempted recently. A competition, if you will, to test wits and mental aptitude. I failed to a mortal of heroic proportions, and received that as consolation from one of the judges. I'm not particularly proud of my failure, so it only reveals itself when I feel pensive, to remind me to continue striving ever onwards.
And next year..." The Bladed Dragon said, his smile reaching draconic proportions as his mouth split wider and wider in an almost-savage grin, "Well, next year I'll complete the blade, at the very least. You can count on that being a portent of the future."
(TRANSLATION: In 2009, I was knocked out in the first round of the Iron DM competition by a 2-1 split. I was up against the mighty Jayrob, and regret nothing. But next year, with the tools I have been given, I will not fail, even against Jayrob, without a fight.)
A man is only as good as his blunders, as reliable as the worst performance.
I believe that, while good-to-middling posts should not be celebrated, any sort of action viewed negatively should be remembered. Below are the things that have brought me subtractions to my XP, which are here to remind me what not to do. The first, and hopefully the last.
