Post of the Month Winner Announced!
I'd like to start with an apology for the delay in getting these results out. In this case, I'm afraid real life simply got the better of me. Now, with no further delay: the Post of the Month winner for September 2014 is ... DAquilina! You can read the winning entry here. Please congratulate DAquilina for this exemplary work. Monsters are all too common in our games. They lurk in dungeons, in forests, in sewers. They swim in the ocean and fly in the sky and sometimes pretend to be treasure chests, ceilings and stalactites. All too often, what they are not is monstrous. We've seen 'em all before and we know how to deal with them. In this post, DAquilina shows us a true monster. Through the eloquent and painstaking description, this kraken evokes a visceral fear. This is no mere bundle of stats, this is a true beast, and Albrecht's descent into the thing's mouth seems less like an encounter and more like a man being lowered into hell. It's a powerful, suspenseful piece of work. The other nominations for September 2014 can be read here. Each is an exceptional entry and well worth the read. The PotM contest for October is going on even as you read this. Be sure to nominate your favorite posts from the month of October.
