The Baby Naming Game
We need a boy's name. First and middle. Ideally goes well with an Irish last name. 1 entry per contestant. (Deadline is mid-April. Probably decide before that, though.) Guidelines (in no particular order):

Boy: Quinn or Quinlain - A variant of the name Ceann meaning “intelligent,” Quinn is the most common surname in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland and is increasingly used as a given name. As traditional quartermasters to the O’Neills, the kings of Ulster for over four centuries, Quinns were responsible for arms and provisions in both war and peace. Who doesn't want their child to be intelligent? As a small child, the nickname Winnie can give her an immediate identification with A. A. Milne's characters and stories that will give her a love of literature and a name that can grow up with her. If she is good at sports, she'll be a natural born Winner. Quinn for the Win or "Quinner" will give her uniqueness. If she stays with Quinn, it's soft and feminine and slightly exotic. If her middle name is is Elizabeth, the whole world opens for name options with Liz, Lizzie, Ellie, El, Beth, Lisa, Betsy, Abby and "Her Royal Majesty (or Highness), Queen Elizabeth". It is a feminine given name derived from the Greek Ελισάβετ (Elisabet, modern pronunciation Elisávet), which is a form of the Hebrew name Elisheva (אֱלִישֶׁבַע), meaning "My God is an oath" or "My God is abundance". Quinn Elizabeth Consider all the variants of each name. I like the originals: "Elisheva" and "Caenn" but those names may give some teachers troubles.

Significance: Female: Gemma Jezzebel "Jezzi" Significance: Gemma's traditionally Irish. And although Jezebel has a bad denotation, I've always liked the nickname Jezzi. |

My suggestions are going to probably seem a little stale... but that's what happens when audits and hiring new staff are on the forefront of your mind.
Suggestion: Gerald for male, Geraldine for female. Gerald(ine) can be "Gerry" for short, and can accomodate a good number of nicknames. "Grrr" seems to be a good one. Probably not considered "unique", but that's where the balance between unique and readability/pronouncability come into play. Easy to spell, too. All the best for a safe and smooth delivery!

I like the puritan tradition of naming children after virtues:
Verity (who needs a nick name when you're real name is this awesome?) Mercy (Merc) Discretion (Disc) I even found a list. I've been told I'm not allowed to name any children though... Humiliation Abstinence (last name here) is apparently not an acceptable name for children in the modern era.

First, congratulations!
Some of the contender's for our boy that we did not go with were: Asa James (my choice)... nickname would have been AJ. Hayden Jeremiah (the wife's choice). We eventually settled on Eli Abel... No nickname here, but it is interesting that his first and middle name together is similar to the word "reliable."  We really like the Hebrew names. Eli Abel means something akin to "God provides." Eli is our firstborn, so... Yeah.  Doubt this helps much. Baby naming is great! I know you guys will find the perfect name for your son!

Simeon was also the second of the 12 sons of Israel, brother to Joseph the Dreamer. You could also call the child your "Little monkey" because simian is a homonym.
