[OOC] Notes and Notices

Hello everyone, I'm zevonian, aka zev.

Now, for some notes:

1. If you wish to apply to a New Player Solo Game, click here and have a look at the application lists for DnD 3.5e, 4e, 5e, Pathfinder 1e, Call of Cthulhu, Traveller and 13th Age games. Also be aware there is a different queue for Community Supporters.

2. If you've got less than 4 posts, and are unable to reply to a PM, feel free to check out the Dice Roller Testing Thread and put up some test posts, then allow an hour or so to "shed your yellow" new user status.

3. Please don't discuss or blurt out plot points and happenings in the game here. While no two players will have the exact same game, many people will be starting similar modules at different times. I wouldn't want anything to be spoiled for future players.

4. If you're going to be off site for a few days, please leave a message in your personal thread. If you do not post in your game thread for two weeks or longer, I reserve the right to close/move/remove your thread.

5. If you have been recently accepted, do note that it may take a bit from the time you affirmatively respond to a PM to the time your thread is in my folder. Don't worry, your thread will show up.

6. Here is the Tangled Vine Tavern, a place for New Players to chat amongst themselves, and get some advice from more experienced players. Please keep it spoiler free, in regards to game points.

7. No 2 DMs or GMs run their games the same exact way. There might be different house rules, different posting rates, and different styles of formatting or information giving to be had.

8. I've been asked about the use of the tool known as TT. I believe this sample will be of use to those trying to learn it:

Sample T T Zev (tt=slashed)(dice="attack and damage")d20+4 d6+2(/dice)(/tt) at the angry kobold with his sword. Replace ( ) with [ ] . I use the six sided die with the red plus tool to use dice I can label. That gives: Zev Dice attack and damage: d20+4 (4)+4 Total = 8 d6+2 (6)+2 Total = 8 slashed at the angry kobold with his sword.

You can use the aforementioned Dice Roller Testing Thread to give that a try.

For rolling Advantage, which in 5e means rolling 2 d20 for 1 check and taking the better result, let's try using the code kh1 (Keep Highest 1) after the modifier to the die.
So such a check with a +4 modifier, for example, goes as follows:

Dice skill check with advantage:

2d20+4kh1

(10, 8 (keeping 10) )+4

Total = 14
