What's happening with Securis?
The short of it is, I can't do it. I can't do it right now. I can't do it for now. I can't do it and I can't even say how long it'll be before doing it becomes a possibility again. It took a lot of struggle for me to decide to end my tenure onsite. Even now, I'm not sure what that's going to mean. Maybe a peek every once in a while and an infrequent quip here and there. Pretty much what I'm doing now but even less often. Here's what's going on. Just finished some classes so I can return to the classroom as a teacher. My beautiful first daughter has some mild ASD and thus a thick schedule of therapies. My second daughter will arrive late next month. My wife will need me. I'm ill in a way that saps my energy and my cognitive ability plus affecting a drastic dietary change and increased exercise routine. Add in some seasonal depression for good measure. Sick but not even remotely terminal. And all that equals a pretty full plate. This place, this wonderful site has always been kind of a comfortable friend to which I could divulge. Can't say that I have a lot of that kind of resource in the physical world. I'll end with my sincerest apologies and wishes for a great gaming experience here or where ever. Peace Out! |

Thanks for being an exquisite DM Securis, even though my experience with you was relatively short compared to other grand players in this game. I feel confident that your accepting me into this game you created has, by far, been the strongest contributor to my improvement both as a player, and writer over the last two years.
It also inspired me to DM for the first time and the fruits of that labor will hopeful result in a glorious dwarven campaign. One in which we shall be delving down from the near surface caverns towards the Underdark. It'll have it's first Tabletop session later next week which I'm eagerly looking forward to. So I can't thank you enough for peaking my interest into DM'ing. I hope you can find balance with your life and best of health to you and yours. If it so happens you create another game sometime far down the road, I'll certainly apply. Until then, This Kobold greatly appreciated your time.

I cannot say I'm surprised. Definitely saddened. I did enjoy the brief time we had together, some fabulous DMing. Thanks for the game and I'm sorry we couldn't finish our story.
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Yeah it doesn't come as a surprise but it is sad. This has been an awesome game guys, and I wish I had the time and energy to keep it going. Hey I brought it back briefly but it wasn't enough.
I hope when I get time to be on here more actively again I see some of your "faces" on here again and have the honor of playing with some of you!!! This has been an inspiring game which has taught me a lot and brought a lot of new ideas into my head.

Securis, my friend.
How long as it been? A decade, maybe? A heck of a long time, at least. We've worked together as this community's staff. Gamed together. Both of our activity has waxed and waned. The last years, I've also had the privilege of seeing what's happening with you off-site. I'm seeing you smile. A wife, one daughter, another on the way. Career challenges. A lot has changed for you since we 'met', and I'm convinced it's for the good. Just keep your boat afloat, and if the winds favour a landing on these shores again, know that you'll find a warm welcome.

Much as the rest I wish you the best and hope everything that isn't going well turns around and everything that is just continues getting better. I haven't played with you much on here but you have proven to be an awesome person and I hope to see you again when life becomes more steady.

Securis, you invited me into my first game when I stumbled across this thing called forum gaming that I had no idea existed. (Was it 2006?) I had no idea how to apply, and you handed me an exceptionally interesting character in a huge and fantastic campaign. Rather overwhelming. Like you, I spent countless hours here for years, and then life started getting in the way. It's been some time since I've visited the site, but I'm pleased I came by (hopefully) in time to bid you good luck.

Does that mean this thing is gonna get rolling again? Or is this game not basic by any measure of the word...

I wish I could pick up the entire load and move. Can't. Just a little gaming is all I'll be able to do. Something small, solo, easy to keep track of. I do have this idea that I literally woke from a dream with. However, it requires a little planning and some set up. I got no time for it.
