And they all lived happily ever after...

I hate writing intros--too much pressure.

I've been playing D&D for 12 years off and on (mostly 3.5) and have run a homebrew campaign with my friends for almost 3 years now. I love DMing, but I'm looking for a game where I don't have to juggle 5 character arcs and an overarching narrative.

I enjoy RPing to the exclusion of meta-gaming. I play games to have fun, not to turn game systems into spreadsheets and graphs.

I did a lot of PbP several years ago, and thought it would be fun to get back into it.

I'm looking for a 5e game (I haven't had much experience with it, but I'd love to learn it). Hit me up if you've got room in your game for me.

Cheers!

Welcome to RPGCrossing!

5e is super easy to pick up. I started with 3.5e, and it will always hold a special place in my heart, but after playing 5e I could not go back to 3rd Edition. 5e is so much harder to break by those obnoxious munchkin players, and its focus on storytelling over number-crunching for OP builds is fantastic.

Good luck finding a game!

Welcome to the crossing!

Your's is a common story here... giving the poor, tired DM a chance to rest his DM bones, and take up a little play time.

You'll fit in just fine! Happy gaming!

Goodmorning DialPforPickles,

Unfortunately that did not work from the Netherlands, so no pickles for me I guess

Impressed by the time-span to DM an adventure for friends for three years now! What races and characters are they roleplaying? And can you tell us a bit about your homebrew world? (it must be awesome if it keeps players interested for so long). I can understand and agree with your point of metagaming, speaking of my own games I can say the feeling is shared with a lot of RPG-members over here. Personally I often choose flavor over the most impressive attacks, and I realize my characters are never a powerful best-math-made characters . But you said it right; games are to have fun.

Where did you play PbP several years ago? Also here ir at other sites?
What made you decide to jump back in?
There are a lot of 5E games looking for players (last time I checked the Games seeking for players-section) so there should be no problem for you to start making cool applications to try and get into a game. As a tip to get into a game --> always keep reading signatures for potential games, check the GsfP-section and once in a while PM a DM who is guiding an interesting adventure to ask if they need replacement players.

Most important though, welcome over here and keep asking questions if anything is unclear

Thanks! We've got a human paladin (the den mother), a halfling rogue (the spotlight), a halfling gender-queer wizard (the philosopher), an elf cleric (the hype man), and a dragonborn druid (the Venkman). They travel around Terram (a distillation of European history and mythology) in a one-horse cart under a permanent Mage's Magnificent Mansion enchantment, which they call the CARTIS (it's bigger on the inside).

They seem to find the world interesting enough (false modesty is just as jejune as boasting), but I think we all stick together because we enjoy the excuse to meet up, bond over booze, and tell a story together. I love my group a lot!

Edit: asked a question but found the answer. New question: should I respond with smugness or falling into ennui?
