So how will you do this? Give each player a kill team to pit against each other?

Well, let them design one, but yes
However, it doesn't look as customisable as I had hoped. Still waiting for final rules to be released over the next few weeks...

I did play necromunda way back in my younger years....like when I was 16? But avid warhammer 40k player. Let me know if anything comes to fruition as I would love to join on!

Neat!

I have been out of WH40k for the past 10...20 years. My daughter (8) has recently wanted to start painting, something I haven't done for almost 10 years. So, now I'm back in, and starting three new armies to boot (minimal ones, for "kill team" style games). Following the news on the new edition quite eagerly, too! What are your thoughts on it so far?

questionSo leaving SW:A alone for a moment, who's excited about the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 headed our way?

I am liking much of what I've seen so far, and coming from the 2e-3e days (I think I played a bit of 4e, too), it's nice that the complexity of some (to my eyes, "strange") rules are being sanded back a bit But what of you who have played the more recent versions, how are you feeling? How are your armies feeling?

(here's some further pics of my Tyranid guy)

I'm loving everything I've seen. I played 6th edition and 7th in my lifetime and I remember how much I loved 6th compared to 7th. My top favorite things they are doing...
1. Getting rid of templates (90% of disagreements came from these)
2. Charger assaults first, makes sense
3. You can leave combat! Who knew!
4. Shooting is becoming more simplified and more random.
5. Same profiles all around.

Things I don't like...Pretty much just waiting for army specific rules to come out. Necron's don't have anything special with gauss now that there is no armor and everyone wounds on 6's. And no Idea what reanimation protocols are going to be like.

I think the game will be much more balanced but I am worried about army specific rules and how they will be balanced, But I will wait and see!

Yeah, I liked the thematic aspect of "We'll Be Back" more than RP. I've heard that the RP works better, but haven't used it. Just like having all these "dead" bodies that pop up after a bit...

The "Eldar Focus" article was interesting, I'm looking forward to more of these (Tyranids + Necrons!).

Though, the datasheet looked a little daunting. I guess we'll have to have some way of printing out smaller versions that only have relevant information on them

So... we could totally do this on-line, right? I haven't had the money, time, or space to actually play any version of Warhammer in 20 years, but gods did I love it.

I've run "Necromunda" games here before, and am keen to have a "Shadow Wars: Armageddon" campaign. Not sure how the 'normal' 40k game would go in an online realm, not as much chance to make it interesting (just a whole bunch of rolling); the smaller squads of troops fighting against each other and slowly increasing their skills, that could work?

I've read them all at least twice and I never caught that.

It jumped out to me, and I started hunting for discussions on it, but have found nothing. So I'm now second-guessing myself, trying to work out what else might of happened to make it reasonable... I will have to re-read it, to see how accurate my assumption was

QuestionI've been silent here way too long!

Anyone else playing the new 40k-8th-edition-version of "Kill Teams"?

How crazy would it be to try to run a game via posts?

What about Warcry (which seems quite simpler, all round)?

Answer, today's daily doublePlaying KT here in Ireland. Rolling with my Ork boyz lead by da Kaptin (Grot in pirate costume)

PbP would be pretty crazy. Are you being serious asking? The hardest part would be both parties picturing the same battle map. Probably a shareable google sheet for both parties to edit would be feasible, but probably a bit of work. If you're serious, I'd be willing to try.

You bothering with Commanders?

I've run Necromunda on PbP before

I have a few KT I'm playing. Necrons are my main, with Tyranids a secondary, but I am also dabbling in Tau, Marines, Genestealer Cults, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Plague Marines, and Thousand Sons. ...i might have a problem
