I'm rather interested in this, particularly as a Lord. Will they have stats/levels/field points/gold or are they purely strategists?

I've done a lot of thinking about "trench warfare" using this system. There are some interesting applications of some spells that some people might not otherwise think much about. Is there any "prep-time" assumed? IE, if could the match begin with a ritual pre-cast and avoid spending that spell slot?

How tall are towers? Are they stone? Wood? Stairs inside or outside?

What benefit do trenches provide? Full cover? Ability to peak out with partial cover?

Does our lord move around the battlefield?

How would you handle the Assassin's ability, which is heavily dependent upon initiative?

Wow, look at that, I wake up and it looks like we are heading towards a 6v6 at this stage.

There are a few questions that need answered.

The Lords will have a whole bunch of special stuff I'll throw at you if someone chooses to take on that responsibility.
Yes the Lords will have a level, they are free to control as you feel... keep in mind if you die as Lord your team looses.
I had thought that the Lords would be strategists for most of the game until the epic final stand.


Anamiac, I can always trust on you to bring out the good questions.

Internal stairs,
Wooden
25ft up...
Benefits: Archers range increases, also provides some cover, can also shoot into trenches within 50ft.

Trenches provide full Unless you are within 50ft of a towercover to those inside - This means that melee combatants can fight without being picked off by ranged archers. Making the traditional Tank or Meat Shield characters fun to play. You can peak out of the trenches with 3/4 cover..

If they'd like to but that would make them the only target worth hitting. Think that the Lord enters within range of the archers, every round every enemy archer on the field takes a shot at the Lord... won't take long before he/she dies.

I have to admit, I'm not sure what ability that is, sorry.

It might be redundant, then, especially with the trenches giving effective immunity to ranged attacks. Obviously having at least one sniper is still a really good idea just so the other guys can't pop out of their trenches without a very real risk of death.

So go ahead and stick with it. Maybe I'll make a "living artillery" type sorcerer to fry clusters of enemies huddled in the trenches.

There's still a question to be answered: is there any "prep time" for doing things like casting rituals before the battle begins?

Personally, I don't want to discuss strategy here. We don't want the other team to see what we're thinking (yeah yeah, I know secret text is a thing). I think that type of thing should be saved for later threads.

So if we use our points to get things like Heavy soldiers how many soldiers is that? Also if we just have an already set number of basic troops could it be possible to spend our points on things like a war smithy or a way to improve our armies gear during combat?

As to the assassin's ability he means the actual ability assassinate where if you attack someone who has not gone yet your attacks are considered critical hits.
