Haha, fair enough. That's not at all necessary to be part of the build, and she'll likely be more effective without it. I'll stick with my "general" build (adjusting a touch since I don't need the cannon), but I do like yours. I just am not especially fond of alchemist for reasons I can't even really peg. My overall concept will be retooled a touch, however. Not the character herself, though -- she stays the same (except for whatever needs change to fit the new build, such as no more cannon).

I mean, it was worth a shot, but I'm totally fine tooling that out of her background.

EDIT: Revamp is done (unless I missed a detail somewhere). It was simple enough since the cannon was much more my own fascination than something truly critical to her. I'm actually much happier with this far more effective build anyway.

Also, thanks for the quick feedback rather than just letting me leave it that way.

Would you object to a Tiefling? I am currently thinking of a charismatic Tiefling Slayer with a love of wealth. She works predominatly at a hunter of beasts, specialised in finding and retriefing monster bits for crafters and alchemists, in as prestine a condition as possible.

How extreme would the racism be? What I had in mind wouldn't have passed. In my mind she has the Prehensile tail and an oversized jaw.

Are we talking price hikes and general distaste, or full on rock throwing and barred from access?

Its more likely the price hikes....my character just got a commission job from a tiefling a few days ago in game.....i didn't even think about raising the price for him based on race dagnabit!

I can deal with a bit of general distaste and racism. I mean when a part of your ancestry is made of literal objective evil you can't really complain too much.

Vaerdis, I hate to say this but your app feels half-done. What you have so far is very interesting, but I want more. How did she survive? Did she learn to hunt her food? (keeping in mind I award role play feats) Like does she shape shift into her fox form and hunt small rodents and rabbits for cheap meat? Did she learn how to craft something or does learn a skill to earn gold at part time jobs? Like is she a travelling scribe? poet? trinket crafter? Chef? healer? What service has allowed her to live while away from her village? Why is she in Dog river? Is it just by chance or is there a reason? Does she have a reason to stay? Like does she plan to earn a certain amount of gold to fund her travels before hitting the road again?

I mean, I detailed how she learned how to do the job as a hunter, I suppose it didn't occur to me that I had to address her day to day routine in her background so I suppose I will address that. As for why Dogriver, it was the next place to travel toward, there is no actual reason that it has to be Dogriver.

Yes. but... what kind of hunting? Did she learn to shoot a cross bow or a long bow? Did she learn to set traps?

She's about to arrive in Dogriver. She needs a reason to stick around for at least a week before moving on. I mean, it is a sandbox world and leaving Dogriver is acceptable, but I've put a lot of work into building this town and its many people.

It can be anything, a short term goal to earn enough money at the adventuring guild to keep travelling. Maybe she and Ishtar were forced to retreat from a large predator, leaving behind their camp site. When she went back, the campsite was trashed and a special item to her was gone and you want it back. I can keep going, but this is your character.

But still, she needs a reason to hang around and possibly join the group. As is, she's just a passer by with no reason to get involved or join in all the reindeer games.

A similar question for you you. Your character is happy with her family and off to explore with their blessing this time. Why Dogriver? Looking to cut your teeth in a decent sized town? Did you hear about a famous adventurer that game from this town, like Douglas Brown, and she wants to learn how to fight better? Are you here because you heard of the famous Dr. Glombot, the mad scientists, here to learn his secrets? Do you plan to open your own store and/or get a home in town or are you just in town for a few days renting a room at the Sapphire?

You have a great backstory, but you also left out the most crucial bit. Why Dogriver?

In full honesty, I've been stalking the threads the past couple days trying to read up on lore so I would have a fully fleshed out answer. That said, without having such an answer, in this case she would have chosen it as a decent place to set up shop without too much competition.

Think of her as a half-travelling craftsman. Her trade is always in demand, but it's something that needs enough people to actually require her expertise in more rare types of goods, and on the flip side also doesn't have too much competition from well-established businesses. She is travelling at random, but she would be lingering in the town so long as business held.

(As for her business, I plan on having her own a horse and wagon, probably covered, to accommodate this lifestyle as well as keep her trade supplies on hand).

Now, if there are more adventurous/mystical things that would pique her interest, that is what would retain her.

TL;DR -- 1) She comes for the business, 2) She stays for curiosity's sake.

I mean, she is testing places to see if she can find somewhere that feels like home. I simply don't have quite enough specific knowledge of Dogriver yet to give a "definitive" answer to that.
