DocDoc thought quickly as time before the show was running out. He responded back to Leshi but broadcast it for the whole team to see.<<No good. The cup itself could have been wiped on the inside with the poison. The only way to be 100% sure is to get his actual glass. I’m gonna order the chem wiz and myself a glass of the same stuff different bottle, sip them down to the same level as The target and company, and then switch the glasses for us to examine at our leisure. If I have to, I’ll drink it since I have antidote patches, a medkit, and the chem wiz with me. We’d be better able to deal with it while watching the show. By the way, you should still have one of the biomonitors I handed out to everyone the first day we met in the cafe.>>

He has another thought and responds to Dünn in the same manner. <<The bartender may actually be legit and not have a criminal record, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t take some sort of bribe or get coerced into cooperating. To rule out the bottle, we need to keep a close eye on all the people who drank from that bottle. We also need to see security footage on that bartender for suspicious activity before the show. For all we know, someone could have disguised themselves as the bartender.>>

Doc sent a message to Impulse. <<I hope you brushed up on that art history because we’re going to need it. I’m going to get some drinks, but I’ll need you to distract the target and company for when I go to make the switch. Maybe the husband has more of an interest in different alcohols in case he seems to get bored talking about art.>> Doc then turned to Impulse. “I’ll grab us some drinks before the show. I know your preference.”Doc then gets up and nods politely to the target and his husband before going downstairs to order a glass of the same stuff the the two men behind them had. Then he’ll head back up the stairs to the balcony. <<Go ahead and start to get their attention. I’m on my way back.>>

Nomad
right-aligned image
Morning
Nomads eyes slowly pried themselves open as the alarm on her Commlink erratically beeped, screeched, and made plenty of other unpleasant synthetic alarm noises. The Nocturna rubbed her eyes with her left hand as her brain quietly registered the sound of people outside, the usual morning commute of passers-by and storage unit owners with their morning routine on the outside. Nomad could make out the presence of crepuscular rays against the blacked-out windows, scowling to herself as she sat upright from her mattress on the storage unit's floor, slowly shifting her position to place her feet on the floor, almost jumping at the feeling of the cold floor against the soles of her feet. "This job better not go to drek if I'm waking up this fragging early..." Nomad complained through a yawn and stretch while she rose to her feet, dressed in a tank top & pajama shorts a comfortable combination which was barely able to retain any heat, though before any mechanical inspections of the drones was started Nomad had one thing she needed to do first. Nomad walked from the mattress on the floor across the storage unit to Catherine, who was parked to the left of the Bulldog after last night's endeavors and ran her hands across the bikes hood "Доброе утро прекрасный."

The Nocturna could feel the cold air of the storage unit against her skin beneath the thin layer of pantherine-esque fur which coated the vast majority of her body as she rubbed her eyes once more with a further grumble. The storage unit's inhabitant turned her back on Catherine to approach and grab the table that her commlink was sat upon to shut off its alarm feature, complaining about the time some more. "Eight AM? Frag me this is way too early to be up." Nomad continued to vocalize her complaints like this, constantly throwing out the occasional quip, one-liner, or complaint about the sun in general as she opened the backdoor of the Bulldog, turned on the light inside then climbed in. Nomad's attention first turned to the Minidrone landing racks, gently removing each MTC Fly-Spy one at a time and setting up the microscope attached to the workbench, scrutinizing each and every Fly-Spy extensively. "Сегодня все о вас, ребята, мне нужно знать, что вы в хорошей форме." Nomad said to herself as she rotated the second Fly-Spy and checked its wings for any damages then moving on to the third drone to inspect, after which Nomad climbed into the front seat and pulled up the Rigger Coccoon, closing her eyes and laying her head against the seat as she went through the usual process of jumping into her drones.

Nomad opened her eyes lens and began to slowly spin the rotor blades of the Fly-Spy, gently lifting it off the ground and slowly turning it around in circles then landing afterward, tilting her eyes camera lens up and down then left to right, testing the rotation of the camera itself. Nomad repeated the test for all three of her Fly-Spy drones, testing the camera on each and ensuring they could fly without any major problems from their motor or wings. Nomad continued to fly herself in small circles, occasionally changing angles and once or twice suddenly stopping to change direction or increase and decrease her height. Nomad was contempt with the performance of the Fly-Spy and enabled its autopilot, though it was almost entirely brain dead without its enabled auto soft.

Disconnection from MTC Fly-Spy 'ICU' successful.
Nomad blinked a few times as she adjusted back to having two camera lens eyes once again, rubbing her eyes gently through another yawn then popped open the Glove compartment and retrieved her one-liter canteen, opened it and drank herself a mouthful of water, then reached further inside to retrieve a pack of chewing gum, opening it up to pull out a single stick which she unwrapped, popping the gum into her mouth then curling the wrapper up into a ball, Nomad turned around so she could look over her seat and outside the back of the Bulldog and threw the balled up wrapper out, watching as the Fly-Spy reacted in an attempt to avoid being noticed. "Ну, ты не совсем мертвый мозг." she commented idly whilst chewing on the Soykaf flavoured gum. Nomad got up from the driver's seat, shut the glove compartment and made her way out of the Bulldog from the back. The Nocturna then approached the table beside her floor-mattress and picked up her commlink, taking a second to acknowledge the display case with her... 'Relics' from EVO, a scowl slowly growing across her face, a vile reminder of what that megacorp truly stood for.

Nomad reached up to her commlink and turned it on, cycling through the contacts, and checking her messages, chewing idly on the stick of gum whilst she began to write a new outward message.
The message was sent then Nomad turned her attention to the larger drones in the back of the Bulldog, the Steel Lynx. Nomad deployed the Lynx from the landing rack, activating the drone to standby in a passive stance so she could remove the magazine from its attached AK-97 to be sure it didn't accidentally shoot her or something else. Nomad didn't see any need to use the workshop for this particular drone, it didn't require any specialist equipment to inspect and the movement of the Lynx was easy enough to set into a patrol mode for inspection purposes, all of which she did with an intense level of inspection for the combat drone.

Once the primary physical inspection of her drones was complete each drone was returned to its normal landing rack, Nomad retrieved the chewing gum wrapper and spat out the chewed up piece back into it and deposited it into the bin beneath her table. The Nocturna then proceeded to get dressed in her usual clothes, pulling the armoured jacket on then reaching for the box of Tracker and Gel Rounds she had purchased the week before, Doc's little discussion with the Nowak gave Nomad an idea about handling the situation, placing the boxes of ammunition in the workshop in the Bulldog when she climbed inside. The Nocturna shut the doors behind her and locked them before sitting down in the driver's seat and kicking on the ignition.

Afternoon
Nomad had spent a better part of the early-afternoon traveling to Storm's shop, to make use of the back rooms to test how the Steel Lynx drones operated while firing their mounted weapons, Nomad hadn't used them in quite some time, so getting the practice wasn't only helpful but proved to her that everything was in working order. Nomad had bought one hundred gel rounds with an extra ten. Five test rounds for each Lynx. Nomad couldn't see any problems with the firing mechanism or even the firearm itself though she could practically feel Storm exhume an agitated sigh as yet another hobbyist stepped in the store asking questions they'd picked up from some trideo personality, who had no idea about even the basics of owning drones talking about the next 'latest and greatest' in the market. Nomad wasn't so keen on these folks either, but she had a job to do.

"Thanks for this Storm, hopefully, I'll have paid off my little debt problem soon and I'll be able to come by for some better gear than this." was Nomads thanks and goodbye as she hooked the Steel Lynx back onto their landing platforms and shut the doors, waving to Storm then hopping back into the front seat. The Nocturna started going over her checklist for pre-job preparations. Drones inspected, check. Firearms inspected, check. Dress? Drek, frag it, I'll be in some IT department with Dünn anyways. Next: Caffeine. Nomad retrieved her canteen from the glove compartment once again and took another mouthful of water, screwing the lid shut and tossing it back inside before taking off for the nearest cafe.

Nomad grabbed and opened up her umbrella as she stepped out of the Bulldog and made her way into the café, shielding herself from any pesky rays that may creep in and decide to be a bother from the open windows. The Nocturna stood out like a sore thumb in the crowd of Humans, Orcs, Elves, and Dwarves that littered the café, a feeling she had gotten quite accustomed to in Vienna. Nomad made note of the rather attractive barista serving her, paying for the Soykaf and stepping away quietly so she could return to the Bulldog and drink her caffeine fix in peace. "Where the frag was that cute-hooped girl last night? Instead, I had to pay like some sort of desperate Евнух. Maybe I should just retire from running and become a dancer." Nomad said to herself, sipping away at the cup and rolling her head back with a relaxed sigh, opening up her commlink once more to check her messages then begin writing a group-wide one.

[Hoi, diurnals, it's the resident nocturnal here to pester you all about tonight's bakery delivery, I've got some trackers for the job so if the Steele twins need to get involved we could potentially get a lead on where the rogue donuts get off to in the event should any escape. I've run my tests and inspections, everything seems to be operating fine drone-wise.] the message read as Nomad sent it off with another sip of her soykaf.

Evening
The night had finally arrived and with everything in place, Nomad turned up to the theatre house in her usual run get-up, and her bustline adjusted to its smallest setting. Nomad intentionally arrived an hour earlier to get the drones in place, though when passing through the MAD scanner it picked up a fair few things more than the drones she was having transported into the theatre house and the pistol holstered in her jacket. "The pistol is there as a last resort... And please stop staring at the upper body 'ware, I'm likely not the only one coming through today with that particular enhancement." she said, staring daggers at the guard manning the scan, making sure he understood entirely what she meant. Once inside, Nomad had piloted her MTC Fly-Spy drones into three locations each:
Searching for compatible devices...
Five [5] devices found.
Awaiting selection.
Confirming connection to MTC Fly-Spy 'N0UD0NT'.
Establishing Connection...
Connection Established.
One on the top of the box Schuhart was intended to be sat in, one on the entrance to the theatre hall and another patrolling the theatre hall itself, though this last one occasionally landed on the roof of Leshi's box to perform a quick monitor of the inside; Having taken Zorro's advice to heart, Nomad decided it would be best if all three of her Fly-Spies were actively monitoring the room itself rather than the innumerable number of potential entrances. The Steel Lynxes had been loaded with 50 tracking bullets each and one Nomad had made sure was placed specifically inside the IT room with her and Dünn, the other one she had asked to be placed close if not within the theatre hall in question but remain hidden from the public. Nomad wasn't sure where the security would place the second Drone, but for now, her instructions were all she had to go off of.

Once Dünn arrived Nomad had greeted her with a wave and a jestful greeting "Don't worry, I made sure to wear something that wouldn't be distracting." though the rest of the wait was rather quiet as she let Dünn do her thing. "If you can do your thing on the three Fly-Spy drones in the theatre hall and the Steel Lynx in here with us, it should be good enough for me to work with." she explained... Though yet again everything fell into relative silence once the job had begun. Nomad sat upright in her chair as she reached up to her commlink quickly and began writing a message for the team [Drek, what if they aren't going to assassinate him in the building? What if they're waiting outside for after the performance?] with the message sent, Nomad jumped back into the patrolling Fly-Spy and continued her scan of the area.

Out Of CharacterI still need to make certain rolls, Slick if you could run by me the mechanical/roll benefits of the stuff Dunn is doing, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Dunn's matrix Persona
Shortly before Nomad came in, Dünn shrugged her shoulders at Tweety's comment saying, "Better safe than sorry."

As Nomad entered, Dünn smiled at the woman's comment about distracting clothes. "Well, at least everyone here will have a better chance focusing on the task at hand instead of you." Dünn herself was in her armored clothing, though you couldn't tell without touching the material. She had the outfit set to the same tint of black as her hair color, causing the paleness of her face and hands to stand out, and the hair dangling along her back seemed to blend into the clothing.

Once Nomad got set up, Dünn explained what her sprites were going to do. She knew the other IT personnel were keeping an eye on them and listening in because if she were in their shoes, she would do exactly that. So while she talked quietly, she wasn't trying to hide anything. Besides, Nomad needed to know, "I'm not exactly sure how the machine sprites do it, and talking to them about it is a lesson in frustration, but once they have initiated their diagnostics scans, whatever machine they are running on just gets...better. The more powerful the sprite, the better the boost to the device, gun, or drone's operating system gets." As Dünn instructs her sprites to run a diagnostics on each drone, Nomad can see in AR a sprite appear next to the drone. It was made up of bits and pieces of junk data lined up in orderly, almost mechanical lines and slowly melded with the drone until there was nothing left.

When Doc suggested the wine might be poisoned, Dünn cursed over the commlink, << Drek! That's why I hate protection details; it's always easier to off someone than keep them alive. >> There was a pause as Dünn pulled up the camera view of when the server gave out the drinks and tracked all the glasses of wine in there individual window. << Gotcha Doc. I'll get the server headed your way. Shouldn't be an unusual request here in the lap of luxury. If anything, I'll ask Tweety to see to it. >>

That done, Dünn dived into the background of the server. "<< She's an exemplary worker, never a day off in the past 16 months, but her SIN is linked to a potential criminal record. Nomad, keep a close eye on things. I gotta dig a little deeper I'm assuming Nomad has the same camera feeds that Dunn has.here. >>" With that, all the vid feeds faded to the background, and she accessed the SIN registry using the opera house's authorization to check up on this server. Accessing a database that she would normally have to hack was a bit surreal for Dünn. 'Okay, so maybe there IS some perks working for a corp.'

Impulse
right-aligned image
PreperationThe days leading up to the opera show, Impulse went over various websites and links detailing vorinism, and dealing with the play itself, reading reviews, finding out the names of the actors to be playing at this particular show. The early morning before, Impulse set up an alembic and a few other instruments on a table, distilling water, etching glyphs and runes on the side of a small vial, and adding in a few different ingredients, attempting to create an invisibility potion, the potion failed, and he steeled himself against the drain related to it, setting up and trying again, the potion went up in a puff, and Impulse rubbed his eyes. Deciding to give up, he began to make his way to the site, and before making it there handed off a small bag of Psyche to Dunn, "This will likely be more to your liking than what we used last time, should be better for what you do"

Start of the jobImpulse rushed into the box where they were supposed to be, ”Sorry for being late, traffic here was awful…” He trails off, pretending to have just noticed the other people in the booth, peeking his head around. ”I’m so sorry to interrupt you, but are you Isidor Schubart? I have been told so much about you, from Herr Fischer, the Financial coordinator. I am very impressed by the leaps your company is taking, and am in awe of the hardware that your company makes. But I suppose you aren’t here to talk about your work, apologies”

Day of the Performance, Wiener Staatsoper, Innere StadtThere were many resources at the disposal of the runners. They had more or less full compliance from the opera house as long as it did not inconvenience the performance or bother any guests. This meant they could enter most areas in the building, order about lowly staff, or play with sensors, lights and other electronics within reason.

A fresh bottle of champagne and glasses was prepared, scrutinised with as much paranoia as the runners feel they could afford given the time constraints - some were suspecting Schuhart had already been sipping poison after all. When they knew they weren't pouring something toxic themselves those glasses could be brought to the box for a switch.

There Impulse was trying to distract their mark with some quick talk.

"I am," the human answered, his face somewhere between surprise and annoyance. His husbands hand had moved to grab his upper arm lightly as if wanting to restrain him. "Do I know you?"

Now at that point Doc possibly made the switch. They had arranged everything in such a way that it would not be a hard move to pull off. If they wanted to be extra sure they could go through such lengths as simply turning off the light in the box for a few seconds, or to have an announcement calling Schuhart to the coatroom, or whatever else.

The point was, one way or another the drinks were switched, and those that had been Schuharts and his husbands could be inspected.

OOCYou've got the glasses, so run how you are going to inspect them by me again and give me all the relevant rolls. Then we'll jump forward to when the show actually starts.

@Silk There is no criminal record for the server. It was worded in a clunky way, but what I was trying to say is that you could access that part of her SIN, but it was empty. I just thought it was important to point out that it's not that you couldn't find or access a criminal record, quite the opposite. You can be 100% sure she is clean, unless the entire SIN is a well crafted fake.

DocDoc has made the switch and walked the two men on the opposite side and sat down next to Impulse. The glass that the husband had was given to Impulse. The other one, Doc looked at the glass and smelled it as if he was a wine snob and took an equal sized sip compared to the one the target took of the drink. He subtly rolled his left sleeve up a couple of inches to pull out a small set of wires that he hooked up to his stomach when he crossed his leg to hide what he was doing.

The medkit feed and read outs popped up in a small window that corner of his AR. He carefully analyzed any anomaly or variation in his vitals or blood pressure. He sent a quick message to Impulse. <<Drank some and monitoring my vitals. Sending you a screen of the data for you to examine if this is poisoned and if so what it could be.>>Impulse would get an invitation to watch the medical feed from Doc’s medkit.

Leshi

Leshi hadn't heard anything from his spirit. No news is good news, as the saying goes, and besides that spirit was rather unsettling. He was hoping he wouldn't have to channel it. The idea sounded revolting, but he felt somewhat guilty for feeling that way. So far however he was left to himself.

He looked around at the crowds as the opera house filled up. It was hard to know whom to be suspicious of just with a casual scan, but runners could have certain tells. It was at least worth the look.

Besides that, he used his own eyes and the eyes of his sense-linked rat to look into the shadows backstage. Ogres have good eyes for the dark, and the rat could go anywhere without being disturbed. It was a bit distracting to maintain his influence over the animal, but well worth the extra set of eyes.

Dunn's Matrix Persona

Arriving at the Opera House

Shortly before the job got underway, Dünn received a small baggie of Psyche from Impulse. She looked at the multicolored It doesn't say what it's composition is in the book. Still, since you presented it to her in a baggie, I figured multicolored crystals would work for something that is supposed to enhance magic crystals inside for perhaps for a second too long before looking back to Impulse, "Thanks Impulse...and um... could you provide me with a steady supply for every run? Being at the top of my game could decide if one of us goes to the morgue instead of home. I'll even pay for several doses in advance if you prefer." From the look in her eyes, Dünn was seriously worried about failing at her job.

Later in the day, when Isidor Schuhart arrived, Dünn went about her business, watching everything like a hawk before sighing to herself and pulling out of VR. Looking around was stupid as she knew everyone could still see her through the camera's and Nomad had the steel lynx hovering nearby, so it's not like the Nocturna couldn't see, but she still did it anyway. Dünn didn't like drugs that much. Her mother was addicted at one time, and she had seen what such addictions could do to people, so she hesitated. But people depended on her to do a job, and Dünn would not fail them. Opening the small baggie, Dünn poured the multicolored crystals into her mouth. Her tongue tingled, but no other effect appeared; even when she swallowed the crystals, nothing seemed to happen. Shrugging, Dünn pocketed the baggie and closed her eyes. Seconds later, she was back in the opera house host scanning dozens of camera angles.

On the job

A simple light flicker was all it took to give Doc cover to switch the glasses, and then she went back to digging into the server's criminal background. Or lack of a criminal background. "false alarm on the server. She's clean, just a bit of RP mechanic to fix the misunderstanding Phett. junk data flagging the alert." Dünn also took the time to erase that bit of junk data even though she could have used the time to watch the feeds instead. It was at that moment that Dünn knew the Psyche had kicked in.

Act 1 Scene 1 of "The Magic Flute", Wiener Staatsoper, Innere StadtThe matrix was quiet, the champagne was unpoisoned. So far so good. Out in the real world the audience was mumbling, a murmur that was amplified to great heights by the acoustics of the opera-house. For the next ten minutes nothing much happened. Something flicked Leshis ear, but when he turned there was nothing there. His rat had been far away, so had no opportunity to look into the astral space. Schuhart had settled into a quiet conversation with his husband, the nature of which neither Doc nor Impulse overheard. In fact the two runners probably relaxed a little too much, losing focus when they should be looking out for danger. Then the lights started to dim, the viewers quieted down, and the opera finally began.

The first scene included Tamino, a handsome prince of a magical and faraway land, running around being chased by a beautifully AR rendered eastern dragon. But the Runners were not watching the performance, not really anyway. It was the soundtrack to their paranoia while they kept an eye on whatever part of the scene they had set their eyes on.

Dünn could equally tune in to the music, but the host itself was very quiet. The Technomancer spotted no nasty intruders, and neither did her sprite find any tampering with the teams commlinks. The rest were focusing on Nomads drones, which were zooming about various parts of the building.

The roaming drone caught only entranced audience-members enjoying the show and staff members that were tense if they still had work to do, or relaxed if they would only spring into action for the intermission.

The backstage was a relatively busy place, as Leshi found, but his rat spotted no exceptionally suspicious behaviour either on the mundane nor the astral plane. At the same time the ork was trying to scan the dark places where the audience was, and since the lights had been dimmed there were many of them. His neck was exceptionally itchy today, or maybe it was insects. Something was throwing his concentration off, but he couldn't quite sense what it was. Did you hear laughter?

OOCMost of you already do this, but it would be a great help to me if you edit your perception checks, actions and all that into your most recent game post. There can be some very complicated situations, and having to switch back and forth between multiple posts and multiple threads makes it easy for me to miss stuff.

Basically if I miss stuff just remind me. And I hope I just about take into account everything that you've been planning to do. There is secret text in play, so you not seeing anything does not mean nobody has seen anything. If you have no secret text it may be wise to hold your post for a day, unless you don't mind posting twice.

Leshi scratched at his neck and idly wondered if he'd already been hit by some kind of attack. Something definitely felt off, and he'd had beer for breakfast enough that he knew that wasn't it. The music and AR lightshow was all pretty dazzling, so perhaps that was it. He was no patron of the arts certainly. He marveled that people could survive this when there weren't assassins about.

And why does that kid have a moustache?

<<I need a sweep of box-->> He stopped typing to try to spot where the box was. <<This one to my left. Astral, matrix, maybe a walk by. Could be nothing. Be discreet.>> Impulse hadn't provided him any magic potions after all and suddenly his seat felt very restrictive, like an electric chair that was just waiting to be turned on. The rat wasn't seeing anything, and that very unsettling spirit had all but vanished on him. He wondered if the other team had set him up, if this spirit was working for someone else... Surely not. He was nothing if not devout and earnest in his prayers. The spirits would not betray him so.

He scratched his neck.

Act 1 Scene 1 of "The Magic Flute", Wiener Staatsoper, Innere StadtThe indicated Box (opposite side to Leshi and two to your left) holds two human men (wearing penguin suits and looking overall unremarkable), a human woman (emerald dress, tall hair) and what must be a dwarf or gnome, since it's a child sized person with a moustache.

Dunn's Matrix Persona

<<I need a sweep of box-->> Leshi's voice pulled Dünn's thoughts out of her inner contemplations and back to the task at hand. Before she could ask for a box number, Leshi gave her the next best thing. Bringing up the camera's on the box, Dünn got a good look at the four.

<< Okay. It looks as if we have two penguins, Bo Peep, and Rumpelstiltskin. Let me see what I can find out. >>

And with that somewhat over characterization, Dünn got to work. Deciding to take it slowly, the hacker first looked over the PAN's in the box and then looked to see if there were any devices running silent. After that, Dünn slowly started to poke quietly at the most interesting person sitting in the box, Rumpelstiltskin.

As she worked, Dünn asked, << Hay Nomad. You mind getting one of your spies into that box? The third one that I sicked a sprite on is working the The one with the +3 dice and +1 Limitbest. >> Was there a slight tilt to her voice when Dünn addressed Nomad? Naw.
