Hero: Gateway - PL 7
Name: Damian Owens
Power Summary: Creates gateway portals to move things across space.

A young college student, Damian Owens, a.k.a. Gateway, has been plying his vigilante trade for the last six years, ever since he discovered he could move through space by creating gateways in reality, moving things, or himself, by crossing through them.

Personality
Damian is a still young, as maturity goes. He likes to have fun, go on road trips, keep up with the latest superhero RPGs, play on his ActionStation 5, and go on occasional forays late at night into the city to play the role of a nighttime vigilante hero. He's emotionally steady, although perhaps a bit self-deprecating in humor, but that comes from not feeling entirely certain in his own skin. His friends know they can count on him, and he believes they will be there for him as well. He has a positive outlook on the world, thinking that people are inherently good. This leaves him often open to be surprised by those who are not.

Appearance
As a young man in school, he dresses urban casual, a bit sloppy (hey, it's college), and usually not to impress. That is, as long as his laundry is done. But if he puts his mind to the task, he can cobble together a decent look in his mixed wardrobe.

As Gateway, he keeps to urban dark clothes (grays and blacks, cargo pants, a hoodie, and a wide flat domino mask, black gloves). These clothes he keeps in a secret cache away from prying eyes.

Name: Adamant

Secret identity cover: Detective Adam Antinum (& his car)

Power/Concept: Giant alien robot hiding in vehicle and human forms

Description: Both in human and robot forms, he conveys the impression of a gregarious, gentle giant. In human guise as a rookie detective with the city police force, Adam is a tall, heavily built fellow with a scrutinizing gaze but soft smile. His big hands are more often used for a clap on the shoulder or sending someone stumbling with a too hearty slap on the back. The criminals he tangles with, though, are left regretful of the memories of taking a big, meaty fist to face or getting pinned with their face in the asphalt.

His car, a stylish but not too flashy blue sedan, hides far more sophisticated technology not of this world. When Adam and his vehicle combine, the alien robot shifts to his true form, the 12' tall white and blue robot, Adamant. His chassis is broad and well built, and he can regularly out-servo villains of comparable size. He prefers the hands-on approach, even though he is outfitted with a plasma rifle. His comrades (when they were around) joked that Adamant watched too many bouts of luchador bouts on human television. However, it is hard to argue with the results.

Alone, without his comrades, he bears a touch of melancholy when he thinks nobody is looking. But he is quick to make friends and, just maybe, fill some of the role left by his missing team.

Background: The alien robot team known widely as the Protectobots originally hailed from a distant planet, Mechanus, populated by towering technological creatures. A team of explorers traveled the stars and eventually found themselves on Earth. The robots decided to settle and observe the dominant species on the planet. To avoid alarming them, the robots took on alternate modes to hide in plain sight. Each separated into a vehicle component and human guise component. But rather than simply remaining hidden observers, when disaster struck or villains reared their heads, the human and vehicle components would combine to reform the Protectobots, led by their dauntless leader, Defensor. Adamant was the smallest and youngest of the team, comparatively anyway; ten feet tall and almost two centuries old could hardly be described as small or young by earthling standards.

Their tale, however, has taken a sadder turn. It has been weeks since most of the team, except Adamant, went off on an unusual mission. Defensor bade Adamant to stay behind for this one. To this day, Adamant wonders if Defensor suspected something about this mission. Regardless, no one has heard from the Protectobots since, least of all, the worried Adamant. Thus far, his attempts to signal them or locate any clue of them have all been in vain.

Char SheetPL/PPs: 7/105 +1 (M1)

Complications:
Power Loss (metamorph, requires adjacent cruiser functioning)
Responsibility/Identity: duty as a detective at the San Francisco Police Department
Motivation: watching over the humans & honoring his Protectorbot mentors
Motivation: he misses his homeworld
Weakness: machine/computer

Delirium
Name: Dr. Delilah J. Reas
Alter Ego: Delirium (Public)
Occupation: (formerly) Neurologist / (currently) Unemployed

Backstory: Once a promising genius within her field, Delilah had been given the important and trusted position of studying and administering medicine to many prominent American superheroes. However, she abused her position and began experimenting with the data she found, eventually unlocking latent powers within herself to manipulate the minds of others. With no experience, little control, and a rapidly deteriorating sense of ethics, Delilah began a career as a brutal vigilante that terrorized criminals and villains, with that career quickly devolved into a ruthless rampage barely discernable from the villains she sought to defeat. It was not long until she had no allies, and a slew of enemies, from villains hellbent on revenge to genuine heroes desperately trying to protect the innocents caught in her wake.

Eventually, Delirium was captured by the renowned hero Silver Sentinel, after she kidnapped his family in an attempt to blackmail him into sabotaging the effort to capture her. Delilah was publicly unmasked, tried, and sentenced to a maximum security prison for supers, where she could expect to remain for the rest of her life.

With her villainy halted, and her delusions of grandeur stripped away, Delilah was left with only the shame of her actions. She spent the first two years of her sentence with the sole goal of contacting as many of the people she had harmed, directly or indirectly, during her spree, including Sentinel and his family. Most of the rare responses she received contained only well-deserved vitriol... but to Delilah's surprise, Sentinel himself visited her in person to accept her apology.

The act would open a doorway to redemption. It was some time before Sentinel visited Delilah again, this time for advice pertaining to a villain he had been tracking, one that used a chemical agent to induce hallucinations. Her advice ended up being fruitful, and over time, Sentinel came to visit more and more often. The two formed a... well, it wasn't quite friendship. Some wounds simply run too deeply for that. But the visits were cordial, and sometimes Sentinel only came to the prison to arrange for Delilah simple comforts, such as books or better bedsheets. And sometimes Delilah could sense Sentinel's emotions, and could tell when the stress of the hero lifestyle became too much for him to handle.

When the villains attacked to wipe out all heroes, Delilah was one of the last to hear about it, still locked away in isolation. This time, when Sentinel visited, it was by crashing through the wall, bleeding profusely and on the verge of death. He babbled almost incoherently about the attack, about how so many of his closest allies had either died or betrayed him. And in an interesting twist of fate, Delilah, a woman who had once been his most bitter enemy, became the only person he could trust to protect his family. With his final breath, he placed all of his trust in Delilah, and granted her a second chance at freedom, and a second chance to be a hero.

It isn't a chance she intents to waste.

Complications:

Motivation: Redemption - Delilah has always wanted to use her powers for good, but the first time around her motives became twisted. This time around, not only is she determined to do better, but also to repair some of the damage she caused before her arrest.

Motivation: Justice - Less of the "saving kittens from trees" super, and far more invested in making the bad guys pay, Delilah's original descent into villainy came from the frustration of criminals getting away or getting off easy when she played with kid gloves. Her sense of justice is a double-edged sword, able to inspire Delilah to surpass her own limitations, but also driving her too far when she doesn't temper herself.

Complication: Bad Reputation - The only reason any hero would work with Delilah now is because there simply aren't a lot of other heroes left to work with, and beggars can't be choosers. And even still... a lot of heroes still refuse to work with her.

Complication: Enemies - Delilah, despite her flaws, was at least effective in the past. Plenty of bad guys ended up behind bars (or in a psych ward... or dead...) because of her. And as soon as word of her impromptu "release" reaches their or their friends' / families' ears, Delilah can count on them coming after her. To make matters worse... some heroes have taken it upon themselves to return Delilah to prison. Which, to be fair... she wasn't ever legally released...

Complication: Oath - Delilah swore on her life to protect Silver Sentinel's family. Despite all of her failings and flaws... this is one oath she won't ever break.

Name: Arbella Hernandez
Secret identity cover: Lady Luck
Age: 24
Power/Concept: Luck/Buffs Allies and Debuffs Enemies
Former Team: US Gymnastics

Background: When you are born into poverty the world is vastly different from that of people who aren’t. When your parents are in and out of homeless shelters and sometimes you sleep in a car things get down to the ragged edge. Education is haphazard and meals are now and again, the best part of the year isn’t summer break it’s school. That’s when you get a solid lunch every day and you can get seconds too. It’s also when your address can be made up on the fly and you can go to some of the best public schools as long as you can get up early and take a subway. If it turns out you have talent, then things can get even better for you. The school doesn’t care as much about where you might be from and you can spend weekends at your friend’s houses maybe borrow clothes too.

It was hard years for Arbella years of need and want that would stress anyone out. But she made it her years in Gymnastics have put her at the top she was got into and won the US Nationals. Then came the Olympics...

Gaining Powers and learning to live with them: The Tests at the Nationals had come back negative so she didn't even realize she really had powers until the tests came back positive. Then there was a lot of arguing back and forth and finally she had a choice. Pretend to be sick with something or let the world know she had powers and might have been cheating. It was an easy choice and so she went with the pretense of Cancer and watched from the sidelines as her team won silver. The only recompense was that with her powers she could do good for the world and be paid for it. So, Lady Luck was born and Arbella well she'll always be known as the girl who might have been. The golden girl of US Gymnastics who everyone just knows that if she hadn't had cancer would have totally brought home the gold.

Personality: Arbella is a very together girl; she’s been through some of the worst crap a life in the inner city can give and survived. She’s focused and strives to be the best she can be. If someone needs help she’ll help them, but she is the very last person who will ask for help.

Name: Liam Spikleton
Secret identity cover: Blades
Age: 27
Power/Concept: Superhuman Regeneration, Weapon/Blade construction.
Former Team: Pendragon's People

Description: The hero known as Blades is a bit more identifiable than most of his allies with a bright blue mowhawk and tattoos that cover his body. He is known for wearing a large trench coat that is made of a synthetic material that helps protect him from attacks and acts somewhat as a cape in his crime fighting style. The hero carries himself with a strut of confidence.

Gaining Powers and learning to live with them: Liam's powers first manifested when he was living on the streets of London. They were meta-human in nature and consisted of a healing factor that was for the most part unnoticeable. It allowed him to bounce back quickly from any fall or fight and often times lead him to get into more trouble than he was worth. That behavior eventually landed him in the British military where he was able to work his way through the ranks until he made it into a special forces unit.

At some point during his service he was captured by the enemy and brought to a experimental military lab for a special experiment to help build a more lethal soldier. The procedure was less than sanitary and the side effects were unknown. At the time the enemies who had captured him were not aware of his healing factor so when he was the only one out of the fifty candidates who went through the secret experiment to survive it quickly came to light that he was more than the perfect soldier.

The experiment however had quite a painful and unexpected result. He could now manifest metal blades within his body from his blood stream and have them eject from his body either partially or fully. Once they had ejected he had complete control over them until he dismissed them. Once he realized what he could do he was easily able to escape his captors and make it home, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.

Shortly after he left military service for a period of self discovery that mostly found him in the nearest pub before he suited up to clean out the local lowlifes in London. Eventually he was recruited by a Superhero who called herself Guinevere after the famed story of legend. She was part of a British Superhero team known as Pendragon's People.

Background:
Liam Spikleton grew on on the streets of London living in one of the orphanages and sneaking out whenever he got the chance. It wasn't until his early teenage years that his powers began to manifest and by then he had become very aware of how to live off the streets. The city worked like a fine tuned machine and Liam knew where to be when to best survive.

The boy did have a temper however that got him into trouble from time to time especially with the local Charlie's who couldn't keep to themselves. They wore those stupid hats that were just askin' for it and sometimes he couldn't be bothered not to take the piss out of a few of them. When it wasn't the local law enforcement it was whatever local gang leader was trying to play top dog that week. He didn't come out unscathed, but he found out quickly that he could either get away or take whatever they had to deal out.

Eventually though it landed him in hot water one to many times, and they put him into military service. There he found the structure he needed and excelled quickly through the ranks stepping up to each new challenge they set before him. Before long he had made it in to the special forces of most elite ranks running recon missions. Liam spent tune as a member of the UKSF Special Reconnaissance Regiment informally known as the 'Black Knights' doing black ops missions. It was during one such mission that he was captured by the enemy and experimented on.

His military service didn't last much longer after that. There was something in him that felt like he was no longer part of the team and he needed to find something else. Once he returned to civilan life he still was a bit lost. He took to drinking in the day and crime fighting at night until eventually he was scooped up by Pendragon.

The team consisted of mostly Arthurian inspired heroes, and they even pushed him to carry the moniker of the Black Knight, but he refused to do so instead adopting the name of Blades.

The Takedown and Survival: It would be nice to be able to say that Blades had survived whatever onslaught overcame Pendragon's People, but the truth was it was nothing more than luck that allowed him to survive. Now Blades had always been the type to land on his feet, but on this night he had a huge falling out with one of his fellow teammates known as Merlin who had been trying to outfit him with some gadgets of his design. The thing was Blades hated the restriction, and he hated even more being told what to do. In a fit of anger he stormed out and retreated to one of the seediest dive bars he could find. The type of place that no one expects to find a hero.

He had been a few pints in when he suddenly realized what was going down as news report after news report flashed on the news of various superhero teams being eliminated. He left the bar and rushed to the team's headquarters but just as he made it into the front door the whole place exploded and the back draft sent him sailing away from the building into a nearby truck. His healing factor prevented him from needing any medical attention, but by the time he woke up, the world had changed.

I am interested but have never played before. Here's my character concept and a partially filled in sheet, which I constructed using the online SRD, so I probably did some things wrong. It can be accessed by clicking the character name.
