Hello everyone. This thread is the next installment in a series of threads on a somewhat-weekly basis where we get to know members of the RPGX community by having informal "Ask Me Anything"-type threads. In essence, I am going to post some icebreaker questions to which the subject will reply and then the thread will remain open for Q&A until it isn't fun any more.

General Questions What are you doing right now? (besides answering this) Workin' from home. I'm fortunate enough that my office has let me work remotely during the pandemic. What do you like about your town? (and where is that?) It's small enough to be quiet and near nature (there's two different lakes within a 15-minute drive) but large enough that I can go to a grocery store or get a cheeseburger from a drive through with a 3-minute drive. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I love it here. What do you see when you look in the mirror? A 30-something lady with glasses who made the very recent, possibly unwise decision to dye her hair reddish-brown and cut it short. What do you see when you look out the window? The little garden in my back yard, some birds throwing seeds out of the bird feeder instead of eating it, and beyond my fence is a dense row of trees in the little wildlife area behind my house. What's your personal quote? "It's probably fine...?" Low-fat, non-fat or regular milk? 1%. I'm not sure why, but I always get 1%. Pen or pencil? Pencil for everything except for important paperwork. Last-gen or first-gen game consoles? I'm not sure. I do most of my gaming on PC, though I have a Switch, Wii-U, Wii, Nintendo DS lite a and PS2. Where would you vacation (if you had enough money)? Oh man, tough question! I'd love to see the architecture and ruins of Greece and Italy, but I've also always wanted to visit Japan. Sarcastic or ironic? I prefer irony when I'm writing, but when speaking, I'm much more prone to sarcasm when I'm around people I'm comfortable with. Moist. What turns you on (intellectually speaking, not sexually)? Archaeology and paleontology!! I love the art, architecture, and history of ancient civilizations, and I love learning about the strange and beautiful creatures that no longer exist. Megafauna from the early Age of Mammals? Magnificent. Dinosaurs? Divine. Cambrian explosion-era weirdness? Wonderful. PUMP THAT KNOWLEDGE DIRECTLY INTO MY VEINS. What turns you off? People who are rude. What sound do you love? Rain on a window. What sound do you hate? For some reason, certain types of whispering drives me up the wall. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me. I'm not sure why. It's not all whispering, but some types just make me what to punch something. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt? Geologist, botanist, archeologist, paleontologist, museum curator--- basically anything where I can poke at stuff that interests me and get paid to nerd out about it. What profession would you not like to participate in? Anything in the medical field. I have a phobia of needles and an abundance of social anxiety, neither of which is particularly beneficial to a career in medicine. If heaven exists what would you like to hear your supreme being of choice say when you arrive? "Don't worry, you did exactly what you were supposed to do." What is your favorite... ...music style? I dunno, I like a lot of music styles. I gravitate towards alternative rock though. My current playlist is like 85% Gorillaz right now. ...food style? Mexican ...color? Blue! ...instrument? I used to play guitar back when I was a teenager. I still have the guitar but I haven't played it in ages. ...ice-cream flavor? Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Half-Baked. It has cookie dough AND brownies in it!! ...furniture piece? The first piece of furniture I ever bought for myself was an old wooden wardrobe I got from a second-hand store. It's a light colored wood, possibly oak, with a darker circular inlay on the front with dark handles and a dark band around the foot. I still have it and it currently holds all of my DVDs and VHS tapes. It looks sort of art deco, just in terms of the decoration, though I have no idea how old it actually is. ...video game? Oof, too many to choose from! I love the storytelling in all of Supergiant Games' catalogue (Hades, Bastion, Transistor, Pyre), I love the darkly gleeful and over-the-top world of Borderlands 2 and the surprisingly good narrative of Tales from the Borderlands, and the odd-numbered Devil May Cry entries all hold a special place in my heart. ...magazine? I haven't actually read a magazine in years. ...moment in a game (either on RPGX or IRL)? The complete idiocy of my old in-person group (sigh... I miss in-person games) when we were fighting the animated corpse of a child possessed by an evil entity. We had learned that the entity was harmed by restoration magic, but we were low-level and unwilling to spend valuable healing spell slots on the fight unless we needed to. Then, it occurred to us: Earlier in the campaign we had come across a series of ancient ruins which all seemed to be demolished except for a handful of bricks with glowing runes. The runes were enchanted with restoration magic to fight decay and corruption, and we had taken some of the bricks with us. So our brilliant idea to stop this evil entity possessing this dead child was to use the magic in the bricks: Our DM, mildly confused: OK, so are you going to hand the brick to her and hope she takes it from you? Player 1: No, I don't want to get that close to her. Our DM: So how are you going to-- Player 1: I throw the brick at her. Our DM: You're.... throwing a brick.... at this child? Player 1: No! Not the child! The evil corrupted entity POSSESSING the child. The child who is already dead, by the way. Player 2: They're healing bricks. She'll be fine. Spoiler alert: She was not fine. "They're healing bricks" became a long-running joke throughout the campaign.

Imveros Shadowrun, great setting, or the greatest setting? Have you ever played it before? If so or if not, what are you thoughts on it? I've never played Shadowrun, though I like the setting a lot. (I have, however, played the Harebrained Schemes video games, if that counts for anything.) All I know about the actual gameplay of Shadowrun tabletop is that it involves a lot of D6's. If you were the undisputed ruler of RPGX for a day, what would be your first royal decree? I demand tribute from all RPGX members in the form of cake, pizza or really good chocolate chip cookies, to be paid on a regular basis.

Where do you think you're going? (Fictional, fantastic, or otherwise...)

Hop onboard the time machine, everyone-- I am determined to pet an archaeopteryx. And as long as I'm there, I might as well pet every other dinosaur I come across. They're good and they deserve pets.

Where do you actually end up, or sidetrack to, or lost on the way?

....somehow I appear to have ended up in a grand ballroom in the Feywild, mid-celebration. I'm not sure how this keeps happening. I think there's something wrong with this time machine-- it's like the fifth time this month I've ended up crashing their party. And it's the same darn party, too-- I can see my past selves on the other side of the room there. They're waving at me.

At least the Fae don't seem to mind. And this party has really good appetizers.

What three things do you pack that you must have with you?

My phone so I can take pictures of the dinosaurs (or, more likely, take pictures of myself and myself and myself at the feywild party), snacks of some kind (I feel like if I keep crashing their party, I should start bringing food to make up for it. Also, if I do eventually make it to the dinosaurs, I'll need to lure them in with snacks in case the shock of seeing a completely different species freaks them out), and a notebook with a pen so I can take notes and do sketches of whatever I find.

If you could pick a magic item from an RPG you've played to take with you, what would it be?

One of my 5e characters had a ring that summoned a spectral horse she could ride (it looked like a horse skeleton and its name was Sparkles). I feel like an object that lets me just point somewhere and BOOM, suddenly an entire horse appears would be useful as well as a neat party trick.

I was going to ask you what your pseudonym would be if you ever wrote a television screenplay, but then you mentioned the archaeopteryx, which was one of my the first words that opened my mind up like some kind of Dune drug.

Instead, let's ask if you had a flock of trained archaeopteryxes, would you use this power for good or evil?

What's the biggest animal you reckon you could take in a bare knuckle fight? (It's them or you, I'm afraid)

Ooh, tough one. Something smaller than me since my STR score is garbage, but preferably not something fast, as my DEX is also low. Maybe like, a decent-sized fish. A beached fish. Like a salmon, or a coelacanth if I want some kind of coolness factor to this fight against a defenseless stranded fish. They don't have hands so I think I have a bit of an edge in a fist fight.

Oh, both options are appealing-- I could either become an awesome Batman villain, terrorizing Gotham City with my flock of tiny flying dinosaurs (especially terrifying if archaeopteryx were aggressive as geese), or I could become the most amazing Disney princess the planet has ever seen, wherein I raise a hand and a feathery lizard lands there to sing a duet with me while others are busy cleaning my house and baking a pie.

Dr Who: Are any other than Tom Baker even worth contemplating?

No. Sure! Tom Baker is my favorite, though to be honest I haven't seen every single Doctor, especially not all of the classic actors. I just love how goofy and low-budget Baker's episodes are, and how silly and charming he was as the Doctor.

I've seen one or two Patrick Troughton episodes that I've enjoyed, and as far as the newer actors go I think they all brought something new and enjoyable to the character. I liked Eccleston a lot, and the earlier David Tennant episodes were fun too (until they started getting angsty, which isn't the actor's fault). Also I dressed as Jodie Whittaker's Doctor for a comic con one year.

I've seen one story arc from I think the Sylvester McCoy era which I did not enjoy, as the Doctor and companions didn't really have very good character chemistry. They just all seemed angry at each other all the time. So until I see other episodes from his era, he's tentatively listed as my least favorite.

There's also a few really bad movies from the 1960's starring Peter Cushing as the Doctor, and they are Doctor Who in name only. Absolutely awful, and not in a fun way.


Oh, and Romana and Leela are the best companions.

Ohh, for a game that has sold something like 50 million copies, I rarely encounter folk who share my love for all things Pandora!

The Tales from the Borderlands finger-gun battle wins for me, with BL2's Face McShooty coming in as a close second.

And while not part of the actual story, a friend and I decided to do the bank robbery sidequest in BL2 using only the Bane (an unlockable weapon that slows your movement speed to a crawl and has an obnoxious voice screaming the sound effects every time you pull the trigger, reload, or swap weapons). It was a thing of beauty.

Did you manage to successfully complete Grandma Torgue's Impossible Challenge in The Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler, or did you wuss out?

Honestly, it's been a while since I went through that DLC-- I don't remember if I did all of her missions, though I do remember listening to her talk and hunting down candies for her.


I think of all the DLCs I own for BL2, I put the most time into Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. It's my favorite of the bunch.
