Thanks for the welcome back! I'm open and hungry for a game. Hoping for something I'm familiar with that will help with my rustiness. 5th Edition preferred. I've been checking the games looking for player thread and plan on checking out the continuous recruitment games as well.

Any suggestions on where to start?

Without more specifics, I can only offer basic suggestions. That said, you have quite a variety to choose from on the D&D front Four From Cormyr looks good. Not only is higher-level play rare lately, but Drach is good people. I've played with them in the past and enjoyed it

On the continuous front, I always recommend my NPSG grads check out Chocos Lost Mine game. It's the starter adventure for a reason! It's easy, straightforward, and hits all the right notes. Bonus point for Choco also being good people

So, it's very hard to come back, and I was staring at the login screen several times before I had the strength to do so. I suddenly disappeared last summer, and I feel very bad about it and very sorry, everyone.

My life imploded in several ways, mostly involving family, and by the time I realized I should have dropped a line here, months have passed, and I always told myself next week I was gonna do it, but as you could see, that was just self-deluding.

I don't really know what else to say, I just hope people here will forgive.

Hey everyone, just wanted to pop in and say a few words after being away for months. Mostly, a massive apology to those I left hanging. It turns out that being an "essential worker" during an international pandemic is a bit stressful, especially when you are given a "promotion" that really just means more responsibility on your plate.

So about a month ago I said enoughs enough and got a new job. A lot less stress and a lot less draining mentally and physically (not to mention better pay). The past few days I've been looking for a place to burn that mental energy, and I remembered this place. Hopefully it's still just as much fun as it was last I was here!

More pay and less stress sounds like a win-win to me! As someone who works retail support, I understand a sliver of your pain. Glad to hear things are looking up for you and that you've found your way back!

Well a little of both actually. I'll lurk around until something exciting catches my eye. Or if not, I'll bring something to the table myself.

Hey folks, I have been away for the better part of a year now. Initially I had to leave for medical reasons, but those have since recovered (I was suffering from poor ergonomics while working from home during the pandemic that made it difficult to type anything).
During the time I was away I realized that having that additional space was helpful for some other things I am processing in my life right now. I came out to myself in November 2019 as a nonbinary person. I have been sharing this with other people in my life since then and making changes to be my authentic self. Gaming had been something that could sometimes help me discover my authentic self, but has also been something that has gotten in the way of that discovery and taken up the space necessary to implement the discoveries that I have made about myself.
I had a lot of great experiences playing here over the past decade (almost), but I think I need an extended hiatus. I felt like I needed to come and say something so the people I used to game with know that my wrists are better but that there is another reason why I'm not able to play right now. Maybe at the end of this journey I will arrive at a place where PbP makes sense for me again. But right now I need that space for other things, I’m not even making gaming products anymore. Thanks everyone for the great times over the years.

Sounds like you're getting to a better place both mentally and physically GG, which is fantastic news. I'm sure there's a lot to figure out so I'm happy you're freeing up some time for yourself, but... I'll look forward to your eventual return once it's healthy and fun to do so! Take care
