Lorawynn
right-aligned image
Lorawynn held her breath as she listened to the subtle sounds of movement from the building. She tried to focus on the sound of door locking, but couldn't pinpoint the distance, so she tucked that information in the back of her mind for now. She heard Brenna call for fire power, and immediately thought of the arrows Harbard had gifted her - but decided to save them for later. She would let those more gifted in Arcane and Divine powers to deal with the magical trap.

Isntead Lorawynn stepped up behind Almira and lightly Casting Longstrider on Almira this timetouched her shoulder. "I am sure you know how to handle the undead creatures more than anyone here, but, be careful." Just like it did with Eppie, her hand emitted soothing warmth. The ranger then returned to keep watch on their surroundings while others dealt with the trapped door.

Battle Mechanics

Item Interaction:
Bonus Action:
Action: Cast Longstrider on Almira: The target's speed increases by 10 feet until the spell ends (1 hour).
Movement: Move up behind Almira then move back 10' again.

The whole party tenses, waiting as the mystic energies swirl around Brenna as she prepares her spell. Almira too summons power, only hers is a radiant energy that forms a silver nimbus around her hands as it forms. Lorawynn hears a hiss behind the door, followed by a cursing orc. Lorawynn heard fear in the curse and more movement, allowing her to target some of the waiting foes. Lorawynn now places four foes in the room, all roughly fifteen feet from the door, two off to the left, and two off to the right. She notices Eppie following her movements, watching where she points her bow and she sees him do the same with his fingers. A dark blue mote of energy forms in the palm of his hand and slowly shapes to dart form. Eppie is ready to magically attack along with Lorawynn. He is leaving the destruction of the hand to Almira and Brenna and Gilbech, who has now moved up with a flask of oil.

Gilbech slowly lets out a breath as he strikes his flint, bringing fire and light. Three! Shouts Brenna and fires. Brenna’s purple bolt strikes the hand, followed quickly by Almira’s radiant blast, sheathing the hand in silver mist. Brenna’s bolt caused the hand to first burn and wither, then the glove started forming and smoking at the same time. Almira’s radiant energies then hit and consumed glove, hand, and the spectral energies enchanting the hand. Gilbech holds back, waiting now with his flask of oil and burning wick.

They all hear a whoosh and a strong wind blows Brenna’s hair back, snuffs Gilbech’s torch and flows past them as the gust blows both doors open. A crossbow bolt dings off Almira’s shoulder pate and a dart hits her mace and falls harmlessly to the ground. Almira notices a coppery ichor on the dart. A large half-orc, almost 6’5 feet tall, with curly orange hair charges out, swinging a double bladed axe at Brenna. The half-orc is completely naked and covered in glowing yellow and red runes.
Fifteen feet behind the half-orc, Lorawynn can see two short, wiry thin dwarves in scale mail and iron caps. The dwarves skin is the gray color of granite and their eyes a pale white. The dwarf on the left is reloading his crossbow, the one on the right is readying to throw another dart. To either side of the dwarves are ghouls, three on the left, four on the right, all waiting, all slavering for warm flesh and blood. None of the ghouls move though. They all stand back and to the side, out of the sunlight now slowly filtering into the room.
The rest of the room is covered in an unnatural darkness that Lorawynn can’t see through. Lorawynn knows from hearing that there is another foe only a few feet to the left of the dwarves and the fourth she heard hissing is an orc or half-orc off to the right, probably standing behind the line of four ghouls.
Standing back, Almira can tell where the ghouls are and she hears more foes. She can’t see them though due to the huge half-orc filling the doorway and the darkness spell cast hiding the rest of the room. Brenna can only see the half-orc. He fills her vision, she can see the wrinkled scars of his skin, the creases and the rippled muscle of his belly. She smells the rank sweat of him mixed in with the stench of ghouls.

OOC-Brenna roll for dex, if you get a 14 or higher you can act before the half-orc swings. If not, you and the half-orc act simultaneously. Lorawynn you have initiative, your shots go first, or you can attack hand to hand. Almira, you don’t have initiative but you have an action, you can cast a spell, try to turn the undead or move and attack hand to hand or attack with your loaded crossbow.

There's always a first time...
left-aligned image

"Now Bren, come on…one more time. Boys are beasts, and you're one day going to be as gorgeous as me. Which means… you need to be as dangerous as me. Got it? Practice makes perfect. If a boy goes after you, probably naked and drunk, waving both his little and big stick around…What do you do?" Brenna rolled her green eyes at her older sister, Kiarra, and kicked the dirt with the tip of her worn leather boot. In one hand she held a dull, practice rapier, and in the other, a wooden dagger that years later would be whittled into a vampire-killing stake by none other than Brenna's sister. Swiftly, Kiarra bapped the top of Brenna's frizzed out waves of raven-black hair to draw her attention to the incoming attack. "Block with an upward motion. Or slice to draw blood as you raise your sword to block. Be sneaky and step into the attack. Don't be afraid. Don't hesitate - move forward and stab that knife right into their gut or a little lower then you should be able to run. Again."

The Drow-hand trap looked to be destroyed, especially now that unfriendly company was coming outside to greet the group. This confrontation was quite a surprise to the Warlock who had never been first in line for a fight before. Ever.

Brenna stepped forward, knowing she didn't have room to gather a second wave of Eldritch magic and blast the naked foe at such a close range. As her instincts kicked in from all of the lessons Kiarra and her Father gave her, the Sarista found herself freeing the blue hag's bone dagger. The monstrous, primal fire-haired half-orc was almost a foot taller than she. "They are always going to be bigger than us; more places to land our blade or fist." Always the optimist, her sister.

The swept hilt rapier was freed from its sheath with ease as Brenna stepped forward to meet the enemy, upswinging with a diagonal sweep of her right arm as she arched a thrust with her left hand, wielding the Fey-magicked dagger, trying not to wince at the beast's weapon about to strike her. There was no doubt in the potency of the armor she had cast on herself, so she grinned a mischievous grin to ward away her fear as she met his orc-tastic gaze.

Almira/Raven - The Naked Orc
right-aligned image

Shield up, two words that had been pounded into her again and again on the sands. She was a big woman but she didn't nearly have the bulk of a man. So she kept her shield up and ready. It was almost a weapon in itself, the way you carried it vastly important to whether or not you had your wrist broken when someone's weapon slammed into the protection. Today that training caught a bolt from someone's crossbow and luck had a dart knock into her weapon.

No matter, the battle was just beginning and she wanted to start it out right. Shield up and spell to hand, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to reap. I call upon St. Kelemvor in the name of Orion to bring forth that purpose." The spell formed a celestial scythe ready to reap in the name of her god.

Lorawynn
right-aligned image
Lorawynn crinkled her nose and made disgusted noise upon seeing the naked half-orc. She avoided looking at him directly and instead tried to focus on what she can see behind him. She eyed the dwarves with crossbows and reached for an arrow from the side quiver.

"Guide my hand, Great Hunter." The ranger murmured a prayer in her own tongue as she raised the bow and released two arrows in a rapid succession.

Battle Mechanics
Item Interaction:
Bonus Action: Cast The next time you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack before the spell ends, this spell creates a rain of thorns that sprouts from your ranged weapon or ammunition. In addition to the normal effect of the attack, the target of the attack and each creature within 5 feet of it must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 1d10 piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

At Higher Levels. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d10 for each slot level above 1st (to a maximum of 6d10).
Hail of Thorns at Level 2
Movement: Move if she has to get the best line of sight but without blocking others, and staying at least 15' away from the half orc
Action: Shoot the dwarf twice with regular arrows. If there is cover due to the half-orc in front, Lorawynn has Sharpshooter feat to ignore up to three-quarters cover.

Lorawynn ignored the naked half-orc, focusing on the dwarves as the greater threat. Lorawynn fired at the crossbowman. She watched her arrows streak through the dimness, hitting the dwarf in the face and throat. She could see the feathers of one shaft sticking out as his blood slowly darkens his white beard. He bends back, avoiding most of the Hail of thorns, but catching a few. The other dwarf ducks and turns away from the thorns, using his shoulder to block most of them. Even so, his cheek is cut and bleeding and the tip of his nose is scratched. Lorawynn's arrows hit and moments later Eppie's magical darts strike the second dwarf. Both dwarves totter for a moment before falling over dead.

Brenna is caught in the shadow of the huge naked orc. She is drawing her rapier as Lorawyyn's arrows, quickly followed by Eppie's magic flash over her shoulder, streaking into the darkness. Jeen shoots the half-orc in the mouth and quickly reloads. The half-orc lunges at Brenna as she leans in, slashing across his chest. She barely slips under his blow with only his elbow bumping the top of her head and mussing her hair. Brenna hears the axe clang against the stone porch, chipping the rock and cracking the axe blade. She follows up with her bone dagger, slitting open the back of the half-orc's thigh and causing it to stumble over her.
The half-orc starts tripping over Brenna and Jeen shoots it through the top of the skull and Kellen hits it with a thrown spear. Two of the runes on the half-orc ignite and go out, turning Kellen's spear to ash.
The half-orc topples onto Jeen, knocking her down and tripping over Brenna. The half orc bites at Jeen and kicks at Brenna even as it reaches for a bone dagger of it's own.
right-aligned image

Almira's celestial scythe forms over her head. She sees Lorawynn and Eppie kill the two odd looking dwarves and by the light of Eppie's magic missiles, Almira glimpses an orc shaman of Gruumsh off to the right, standing behind the four ghouls. She is guessing the gust of wind spell came from him. On the left, behind the three ghouls is an elf. The elf is not a drow, but a Sun elf with a long angular face, gold colored eyes and fine, slender, nimble looking fingers. The elf wears a long, deep, pine green robe with a short collar and buttery colored, soft leather boots. Almira knows this elf cast the earlier sickness spell at her and the darkness spell hiding the room. Then the light of Eppie's magic is gone, the elf and orc shaman disappearing back into the darkness with it.

On the porch, Pappen has lit Gilbech's flask and Gilbech prepares to throw it at the four ghouls. Kellen has rushed forward, along with Helche, to attack the naked, rune colored half orc. Almira hears Danse reciting the prayer for a light spell to break the darkness of the room.

OOC-No players took any damage. Brenna SA either dex to dodge the half-orc entirely, or Str to hold it up and off her. DC 14 for success with either. If she fails her success, she is knocked over and stuck under the half-orc and can attempt to wriggle free with an Escape Artist check or stab with her bone dagger as her rapier would be too long to use in that instance. Lorawynn can attack the elf or the shaman at -2 due to the darkness or the half-orc or the ghouls as normal. Almira can attack the half-orc, the ghouls as normal with her Spiritual Weapon or the elf or orc shaman at -2.

Brenna Nightfall's Day At the Mausoleum
left-aligned image

Something in Brenna's mind shifted as the towering, naked Half-Orc was sliced open - by both her blades. She drew blood on another living creature, in defense. This wasn't clean like magic. The press of very sharp and well-maintained weapons against and through the thick skin of her opponent was disturbing but necessary. The aggressor, who without a doubt, would kill her or Jeen without a second thought. That was its purpose. This is why weapons are kept sharp and at the ready, angled correctly on the hip. Intellectually, the Sarista understood the point of why she carried a rapier and daggers. Why her father, her uncle, Kiarra, and even the old fishnet-fixer, Kezia (who watched knife fighting lessons from her steps) were so encouraging. With her sister eating and breathing the Hunt and Adventure growing up, Brenna went along with whatever she was doing, being a rapier-wielding lithe shadow.

Muscle memory is an amazing thing. Letting ones' thoughtful mind go and allowing the fighting instinct and lessons to take over was strange and freeing, and needed. Brenna knew she was fighting for her life, and that of Jeen who got caught in this stumble after such a beautiful crossbow shot through the sigiled Half-Orc. Kellen's spear turning to ash barely registered when the Warlock was facing a tumble to the ground atop of Jeen. Remembering how to 17 for Acrobatics Evasionmove with the flow of the motion instead of fighting against it, Brenna tucked her arms in, weapons in hand, and turned to hit the ground rolling with a grace and fluidity that only came from years of unintentional (sometimes!) practice. Her feet hit the ground swiftly and she stood up with momentum, Attack 23. Damage 3sweeping the rapier back with a flourish before raking it against the Half-Orc and then stepped right up to him to try to pull the Attack 14. 3 Damage if hitsdagger across his form Though the attacks weren't as harsh due the absolute surprise she actually pulled off one of Kiarra's basic moves in her repertoire, the younger Nightfall sister was full of adrenaline and gained confidence in her abilities.

Brenna had to make sure her foe's attention skipped across Jeen to allow her escape. "Weak and pathetic. Clanless traitor to your people." The Sarista yelled tauntingly at the Half-Orc, Flemish accent a bit thicker. "Get UP and face me!" And he could go face Kellen and Helche as well; she's not grandstanding, just simply trying to draw his attention, and hopefully his attack, if her sharp cuts weren't enough to persuade him.

Lorawynn
right-aligned image
Lorawynn glanced over at Eppie and grinned with an approving nod. Turning back, she caught the glimpse of the sun elf and shaman disappearing into the darkness and her hand moved to her quiver again with experienced quickness. Before their forms completely dissapeared, Lorawynn engraved the elf's image in her mind and marked as prey. Remembering where the elf's face had been, the ranger raised the bow with steady hands and released the string.

Battle Mechanics

Bonus Action: Cast Starting at 3rd level, you can focus your ire on one foe, increasing the harm you inflict on it. As a bonus action, you designate one creature you can see within 60 feet of you as the target of this feature. Almira/Raven - The Naked Orc
right-aligned image

She moves towards the orc keeping her shield up even as she begins the process of channeling energy to turn the undead. Holy symbol in one hand she recites prayers for the dead. "From ashes and dust we are made and to ashes and dust shall we all return. In the name death itself I enjoin you to your final rest." Meanwhile the celestial scythe she had created just a moment ago swings a deadly arc for the orc who stands in her way.

AllAlmira and Lorawynn watch the large, gruesome half-orc topple down on Brenna and Jeen. Only Brenna tumbled, tucking into herself like a snail, the gypsy rolled away and right to her feet. The half-orc now sat astride a screaming Jeen, hitting her with his fists and stabbing at her with an elk horn dagger. Jeen rolls over onto her stomach, protecting her belly and neck from the half-orc blows. Kellen and Helche are rushing to attack when Brenna yells out,
Quote:
"Weak and pathetic. Clanless traitor to your people." "Get UP and face me!"
Brenna catches the half-orc's attention. He spits at her as he rises off Jeen quicker than expected. Brenna lunges in with her rapier, slicing the skin of the half-orcs muscled stomach. A thin trickle of blood oozes out. The half-orc punches Brenna in the thigh, just above her knee, staggering her and giving the half-orc time to reach it's feet. The half-orc grabs at her and Brenna ducks under the hand and stabs with her bone knife. Two of the half-orc's sigils smoke off one failing to ward against her Hag blade, the other protecting the Half-orc from the Armor of Agathys. She cuts the half-orc at the top of the hip before the half-orc head butts her and almost knocks her off her feet. She steps back, blinking away pain ripped tears. The half-orc looming over her once again. Her tattoo sizzles with itchy heat as the half-orc stabs her with the elk horn dagger. Brenna immediately feels the hot pain scoring along her ribs from the Fey touched weapon. The half-orc is about to stab her again when Almira's silver scythe sweeps down on the half orc, lopping his head clean off.

Almira directs her holy scythe at the half-orc and turns her focus to the ghouls. She feels a sharp prickle in the air and her whole mouth seems to catch on fire, the unholy heat running down her throat and into her lungs. She feels her nose suddenly full of snot and dripping like a sieve. Even as she brings the holy power of St. Kelemvor down on the ghouls, burning six of them and sending the seventh scuttling to the far wall and crouching in fear, she knows the Shaman of Gruumsh is poisoning her. Hands seem to wrap around her throat, she can feel the calloused skin squeezing and squeezing....

Lorawynn sees Brenna roll away and stand, all in her peripheral vision. She is focused on the Sun elf. Lorawynn feels the air thicken around Almira, smells the poison and knows she is out of the spells range and that there is little Lorawynn can do to help her friend at the moment. Lorawynn fires. She doesn't see the arrows hit, but hears them thunking into flesh followed by a gurgling sound and several sparks of gold and silver light from a broken spell. Lorawynn hears the Sun elf collapse to the floor.

Danse finishes his spell and suddenly the interior of the Mausoleum is bathed in golden light. Almira and Lorawynn can see the two dead dwarves, the burning ghouls and the mortally wounded Sun Elf. She is lying on her back, her legs twitching, her hands grasping at the air. Bright pink froth bubbles from her mouth. Lorawynn shot her through the lung and in the heart.
On the right, the Orc shaman blinks at the sudden, bright light and turns to run. He wears a leather coat with bones sewn into it and carries an oak cudgel strapped to his back. Other than the leather coat, he too is naked and painted with sigils.
right-aligned image

They can now see the first floor of the Mausoleum is forty feet wide and sixty feet long. The walls are painted with murals in frescoe style, depicting the Saints in various acts. St. Kelemvor and St. Oghma are prominently depicted on the left/north wall. Their paintings are worn and smoothed by age. The right/South wall depicts St. Hardig alone. Almira knows he is the Patron Saint of gamblers, liars and thieves. In the mural. St. Hardig is rolling bones against a group of devils, winning back lost souls.
Twenty feet straight in from the door is a dove shaped font with an elaborately designed carved wooden canopy. Twenty feet beyond the font, there is a twenty foot wide stair going down. The orc shaman is headed for the stairs. The stairs are in the middle of the room. The rest of the room looks empty.
Lorawynn is looking over the room when an arrow flashes out and sticks in her hip. Another arrow hits Helche in the cheek and pushes out his mouth. Helche drops to one kneel. Pointing at the Font he gargles out, Gobbins, gobbins! Lorawyyn sees two goblins with lemon yellow skin and light, almost pink eyes. They are short and thin shouldered with long arms that reach their knees. Both of them have black hair, styled in a pompadour with spots of white speckled through. These goblins remind Lorawynn of Plomfleet.

OOC-Brenna took four points of damage from the half-orc. Almira SA Constitution DC 12 or take five points of poison damage. If she saves, the choking feeling goes away, if not, it remains, distracting but not damaging. Lorawynn took 6 points of damage from the goblin archer.

Almira/Raven - Kill the goblons
right-aligned image

The poison rushes through her and she notes the pain and then sets it aside. She has little time to pay attention to it as there are so many other things happening. She looks to Jeen and Brenna and notes their injuries as being non fatal though she does ask, "Jeen, Brenna do either of you require healing?"

Question asked she sends her holy weapon toward the goblins even as she moves that direction and unsheathes her new mace. She brings the heavy weapon down on one of them.

Brenna Nightfall
left-aligned image

Brenna hoped that she showed no fear as the huge, naked half-orc rose from his attack on Jeen - Jeen her friend and protector. She could feel her green eyes wanting to widen but she narrowed them in her angry revenge. It was her turn to return the favor of when Jeen stepped in front of an unholy fire that nearly burned her arm off, instead of burning Brenna to a crisp. The sudden pain from being punched in the thigh certainly wasn't anything near what Jeen had gone through, but damn…it still hurt and was going to leave an impressive bruise. A solid swipe of the mystical bone dagger was executed before the sigiled beast knocked his giant head into hers, sending her reeling back, barely having noticed the dissipating sigils that she was triggering. The frost of her armor was unnaturally held back; this fleeting thought hissed through her clenched teeth as she blinked away the tears. The Fey magic of the half-orc's unusual dagger set off her tattoo like little dancing needle-legged spiders skating across the inked feathers across her shoulder-blades. He got under her leather armor, between a layer, ripping her flesh across her ribs. The Sarista boiled a growl in her throat just as Almira, with precise determination, swept the beast's head from his neck in one gesture of deadly magic.

In shock at the beheading, though in awe of Almira, the Warlock turned away from the headless collapse of the half-orc to eye the dark priestess and nodded her head. "Thank you, but no - Not yet. Helche needs help. Jeen? Lorawynn...is hurt." She quickly looked around, with a growl that she swallowed but can return at a moment's notice. She watched as the goblins were swiftly dispatched by Almira with this sacred floating weapon of hers as she offered Jeen a helping hand up after sheathing her rapier. The battlefield has an order to the chaotic energy, one of which she must get acclimated to more than quickly. The wounded are wounded, but no one is dying quite like the frothing Sun Elf. A Sun Elf. Is this who she saw walk through the mausoleum doors only hours earlier with a group of other unknowns? Sh*t

"Kellen! Almira has a healing potion I made her yesterday." Brenna yelled, shooting a glance at the Celt who was with poor Helche, down on one knee with an arrow horribly through his cheek and mouth. At least it's not his neck. The Sarista ran with a slight limp from where she punched just above the knee; the swelling was going to be a doozy, and her head probably had an egg-sized bruise on it. Well, at least she carried the scent of fresh flowers through the odor of poison, undead, and unwashed enemies.

As Brenna rushed to the Sun Elf's side, speaking to her in Elven. "You're safe… You're not alone.". The Warlock slid to her knees on the cold mausoleum stone floor beside her and clasped the woman's outstretched hand. "Honored and sacred ravens sent to claim this one's spirit and guide her to our Queen, I claim this one as mine until her Fate turns once again to death." The Raven Queen's servant, in the midst of the threat of burning and not burning ghouls, as well of things unknown, Spare the Dying castwhispered either a spell or prayer, or perhaps both - because with an arrow through the heart, and one through a lung, magic and prayer were all there was for hope. As far as the Sarista knew, being one of the Ramblers Green, friends and practically family with nomadic Moon Elves, that the Sun Elves were rarely seen. She certainly had never seen one before, and understood that this Elf may be far from her home, perhaps being manipulated as she believed the Drow were - though they were more inclined to disrespect life. Sun Elves, as so she believed, were going to do what was needed in an efficient and effective manner, not always caring about the consequences if they were not directly impacted negatively. This dying Elf was here for a reason, and Brenna wanted to save her to find out why and what had happened to her. Plus, as it showed in her eyes, the dark-haired Human was compassionate underneath that practical curiosity.

Lorawynn
right-aligned image
Lorawynn grits her teeth and pulls the arrow from her hip and tossed it with a grunt. She then watched Almira dispatch the goblin archers quickly. "Hang in there." She spoke to Helche on his knee as she followed the retreating shadow of the orc shaman with the tip of her arrow.

As she shot the arrows, she saw Brenna rushing up to the dying Sun Elf and wondered if she had made a mistake. The elf had stood with her enemies and in Lorawynn's mind, he was an enemy. But she had learned in the past that some were under the influence of some sort of mind controlling spells. If that was the case, that was even more distasteful. Frowning, she cautiously moved closer to the door, still wary of any other enemies that might be nearby.

AllAlmira shook off the poison, advancing quickly and determinedly on the two goblin archers. One goblin was lifting his bow to shoot when Almira brought the Holy Scythe sweeping down. The Scythe took the goblin in the chest, killing him instantly. The second goblin stood up and shot one arrow that Almira deflected with her shield. The goblin's second arrow glanced off Almira's scale mail and went straight up into her armpit and out the back of her shoulder. Almira never even felt the arrow as she brought her mace down hard on the goblins skull, splitting it open and killing that goblin as well.

Rushing in right behind Almira, Brenna runs to the dying Sun elf. Swiftly kneeling, Brenna sees the elf's eyes are wide and flickering with terror and hurt. She knows she is dying. Brenna leans over the terrified elf's side, Brenna casts her spell. The Sun Elf's flailing hands quickly grab Brenna's, holding so tight, Brenna hears her bones crack. The Sun Elf stops gasping, the pink froth dribbling, instead of frothing now. Her dark copper colored eyes, once round with fear, calm. Sorry, I am so sorry for my weakness. Please forgive me, please. Let me not die here in this place, in this state, the Sun Elf gasps out. Plomfleet betrayed us, he, oh I am so sorry. She tries to roll over and cover her face as she cries and spits.
Holding her hands and looking her over, Brenna notes the hands are warm and soft, not calloused or worn in any way. The elf also has a tattoo of purple ink in the shape of an eel like serpent with a human head on the left side of her neck. On the right side of her neck, are two faded fang marks reminding Brenna of the giant spider bites on the halfling Pat. On her belt, a belt of finely wrought butter yellow lambskin, Brenna would note, are three pouches. One has vials of various powders, one has a number of small thumbnail size stones and gems, and the other two small, almost toy like clay figures. She also has a bandolier under her cloak. The bandolier has two daggers, a loose scroll and an ivory scroll case with gold filigree worked from end to end.

Lorawynn followed close behind Almira and Brenna and Jeen, who is following Brenna and Gilbech, who nows has a flaming flask in hand. Lorawynn scanned the room, seeing the one remaining ghoul cowering in the far corner and no other foes. She focuses on the orc shaman running for the large double doors in the center and behind the font. Lorawynn moves to the side, keeping a direct line of fire on the shaman while not having to shoot around Almira. Lorawynn fires her first arrow and sees Almira kill the first goblin. She fires her second and the shaman collapses three feet from the door. He takes one deep breath and then nothing. His body lies still as blood slowly trickles from where Lorawynn shot him. A hissing sound comes out from the shaman's cloak, followed by a small, grey skinned gremlin with green spots. The little fiend tries to fly and falls over and wriggles about drunkenly on the floor. Harbard has told Lorawynn that when either a familiar or the mage the creature belongs to dies, the other is often affected with dizziness, painful headaches and in some cases outright madness. Many supernatural familiars, like a gremlin, often die shortly after their masters.
Just beyond the dead shaman, Lorawynn hears noises behind the double wooden doors. She hears human whispering and a slight scraping sound like someone trying to slide a spike under the door, hoping to jam it closed. The entrance and most of the Font room is brightly lit, but Lorawynn can tell the light from Danse' spell does not extend beyond the door. There is a magical darkness there, freshly cast and a thin rime of frost slowly forms between the bottom of the doors and floor, creating a kind of seal.

Almira looks over the two dead goblins and now feels the arrow wound. She looks and sees the arrow is still sticking in her, the fletching in her armpit and the arrow point jutting out the back of her shoulder. She moves her arm an finds she still has full motion and no real loss of strength. She is bleeding though. She can feel the warm trickle of her own blood running down her ribs and into her pants.
Almira sees Lorawynn kill the shaman and watches the gremlin stagger out. The little thing reeks of evil, even more than that of the dead shaman. She knows it is dying, the essence of life, given to it by the Shaman, slowly flowing away now that the gremlin had no connection to the Shaman. The Sun Elf was a different matter. She still lived, barely after Brenna revived her. Unlike the shaman and the gremlin and the half-orc they killed, the Sun Elf gives off no signs of necromancy or the undead.

Gilbech throws his flask of oil on the cowering ghoul, burning it to ashes. Danse and Pappen are still outside on the steps, aiding Helche. Eppie is right behind Lorawynn and looking around, a pinched look on his face. Almira can tell Eppie is not used to seeing this kind of fighting. The smell of burning ghouls does take some getting used to. Kellen is right behind Almira, a wet scarf wrapped around his face.

OOC-Almira took 3 points of damage from the goblin arrow, no other player took any hits. Almira and Lorawynn can roll for perception to hear the humans whispering. Any player can make an Arcana roll to figure what, if any, active spells or enchantments are in the room.
