Excited to hear you already have a game planned, but don't let that keep you from enjoying the rest the site has to offer! We have advice sections for players and GMs, more forum games than you can shake a stick at, and even a dedicated creative writing wing called the library. If you have free time we can kill it!

I'll also still recommend the new player solo game. You'll select one of eight systems and you'll be assigned your own private GM/Mentor to show you the ropes and run your first adventure with you. I can't recommend them to you highly enough.

I highly recommend checking out the New Player Solo Game off the main forum's Solo Games/New Gamers. There are 13th Age, Call of Cthulhu, DnD (3.5, 4, 5), FATE, Pathfinder (1), and Travelers many game systems to pick from and once signed up, you will be paired with a patient and helpful GM that can help show you the ropes of how to do things at this site. They can also be an excellent person to ask any questions to while you are getting up to speed on things.

Sounds like you already have a game lined up with a group from where you work, but I would still highly recommend trying out the new player solo game at the same time.

So tell us, are the any other game systems you are interested in? It sounds like you are fan of the horror genre as well, any other genres?

This is a place where the people are welcoming, where the games are interesting, and where generally they only expect you to post a few times a week. I've been playing D&D for a very long time and I thought I've seen it all, but this site has some amazing games going on. I've been playing (storytelling as much as rolling) for about a year now in a game that has been going on continuously for four decades, started tabletop and moved online two decades ago. It's set in an alternate Europe where the worlds of Tolkien and Howard existed in ages past. So there is a hint of LOTR and a hint of Conan in it and since it's set in an alt Europe it somehow feels familiar.

This is just one example and there are other great campaigns on RPGX. You should take some time to "stroll around" the site and see if anything catches your eye.

Wow! Thanks so much for the friendly embrace (pun intended) everyone! This seems more and more like a great community. I will definitely browse around once I get settled in. I am also more of a tabletop kind of player, also an MTG player. Not ashamed to get my nerd on! My friend Starship Tical is a well of knowledge on these games as well, he's been into the Vampires saga since the 90's. I hope to be getting into the solo game as well, seems nice and fun and laid back. Although I will be a new father in June, I don't want to get into too many things before seeing how my free time will be spread out. I might be online at lot at night too!

When you say tabletop, do you mean board games? I used to board game quite a but before the pandemic ... although my MTG days are waaaaaaaay behind me.
