The door slides open once more, and those present cock their heads to see who enters. Disappointingly it is Zorro again accompanying what seems like another gonk, drink in hand. the stranger enters the room and Zorro....smiles!

"Hey Choomba! Nice to see you again. Man, it would be so cool if you got the band playin' back here again! Dios mío! That would be epic, mi amigo! Anyway, I gotta go and...you know. Keep it real and keep it safe." Zorro emphasised the word safe and gave Rex a strangely caring look.

"Mr Frost will be here shortly. Peace Choomba!" Zorro held up his hand to Rex as he turned and left, a loud Scchhlliiiiick! and a thump emphasising the door sliding shut behind him.

OOC: Gonna wait until Hal gets back to post then ill move this on so RP amongst yourself if you wish.

About to introduce himself to the one called Niú on the streets (a quick NETcheck revealed nothing telling about her) he was interrupted by the repeated entry of Zorro and new strangers. Always one to appreciate an audience, Zek held off until the last person, a rocker he knew he should know but was having a hard time placing, entered.

"I'm sure you all recognize me, "he said looking around the room of strangers. If he saw a lack of recognition on anyone's face it didn't seem to phase him or soften his brilliant smile. "Zekvids are all the rage. Any Zekobites in the room? No? Well anyway, you can call me Zek."

He was energetic as he talked, hands moving and his coattails flaring as he twisted to look at each person. The observant folks would have noticed the stylized red and white grip of a weapon on his hip. It was at that moment the had his red LED techoscroll turned back on, taking up the shoulder strip on his purpletrenchcoat.

"My works out there. Worth a look."

He didn't take the next step of asking who everyone was, relying on his cyber eye to take a snap of a few of them and doing a quick agent search. He was energetic and outgoing but lived by the motto 'trust after you verify'.

'What in sweet V8 was going on here', Bean thought angrily. More and more people were showing up and none of them looked professional. Instead, he was dealing with two off brand pretty boys and a pair of chicas. Last time he was dealing with a group like this it was some drunk corpo kids out on a bender. They thought it would be cool to rip it up in the Badlands with a nomad chafer.

One of the di<ks heaved all over Bean's back seat. Bean was about ready to beat the a$$hole half to death. Only reason he didn't was because they gave Bean a bonus to cover the cleaning, and there were ladies present. Bean snarled under his breath. His pronounced canine beginning to show. They weren't Vampyres implants, he just had a slightly more pronounced fang then others.

'At least this group ain't drunk', Bean though before looking at some of their drinks. 'Yet'.

Bean was seriously reconsidering this job and that was even before knowing what it was about.

No. Not yet. Cool that rev and let it idle. Him and his pack needed work. This job might open doors and they needed that. If this Frost a$$hole ever showed up that is. Bean's square jaw clenched up as he forced his lips close. He knew he tended to show off the fangs when he was pi$$ed so forcing a stone face was the better option. Caused less trouble.

Still Bean was growing impatient and needed something to take his mind off it. Zek's little performance wasn't helping.

Rex Everything
right-aligned image

Rex took a reserved pull on his drink and wished again that he had a stim dose or a line of Speed EZ. Not that he wasn’t aware and awake, but he just didn’t really feel awake. He could have lit up one of the smokes he had bummed from Gary, the choomba who drove him here, but he didn’t want to seem unprofessional in front of the others.

This was the wait. When the paying party kept everyone waiting to try and gain some sort of advantage, like those corpos who elevated their desk slightly to do a psych job on whoever made it into their office. It was cool. Rex knew how to play the game. It was also the time when the prospects sized each other up. After all, you had to know what you were working with.

Rex looked in the direction of the petite woman who was busying herself with her agent. ”You did some promotional work for the Mindbenders, right? The Chinese psychedelic rock band. I caught them on Channel 8. Good exposure.”

Next he turned to and gave Zek an easy smile.

”Zekobites? I thought your followers were called Zekhedz. I partied with some of your people. The wild energy type. Like to get off on Tryquila* and hang out at float parties. You might even try to bottle your own Tryquila and push it for some merchandise Eddies. Just a thought.”

Tryquila- Like a mix between NyQuil and tequila.

Niu - Netrunner
right-aligned image

Watching Zek make his introduction whilst laying back on her becoming somewhat now comfy lounger, Niu did not recall anything on 'Zekvids' or 'Zekobites', but as she was waiting anyway decided to make a mental note and check some of them up later. Just in case. He didn't seem like a Medic; medicated maybe. A Celebrity in training perhaps? Either way, he seemed to like being in front of the lens, which meant the lens was not necessarily looking at her, so that was a win. 'Bean' seemed nice, very quiet; Niu liked that. She's have to get to know him later, hear his life story, see what makes him tick.

She took stock of the others in the room. The Woman was close to her age maybe; nice hair. No idea what her line of work was but she'd look into 'Scraps' later when she was a little less occupied. She seemed nice enough though, a little flirtier than Niu was used to but to each their own. This last guy seemed a little like Zek and they seemed to get along well enough from what she could tell. Discussing exposure; Media-type maybe? Could be a numbers person. He seemed to know about 'Zekobites' though, so they could be running in similar circles. 'Mindbenders' rang a bell; she filed that away for later too.

Niu yawned and stretched, the waiting starting to get a little bored of waiting. This 'Frost' was probably just using some psychological warfare; her Father would go on and on how various Board Members would use these kinds of tactics all the time to get an advantage in their business dealings. Her Sister was an expert at it but Niu wasn't as gifted here, preferring a more hands-on learning. If she got the chance her Sister would probably have been one of the more powerful people in the Boardroom; guess we may never know.

Remembering that half the others weren't here when she introduced herself, she just said a not more lazily than last time, a quick nod of introduction to each of them (OOC: Scraps then Rex), "Hey guys, my handle is Niú. Nice to meet you. Nice hair by the way Scraps," and she went back to a more vegetative state, waiting for Frost to finally show up...

(OOC Edit: grammar)

SCRAPS -----HP 35/35 (18)-----SP 11
right-aligned image

Image after image scrolled up the Agent's screen, but none were helpful. Most looked to be mundane pics from social profiles; random gonks just living their lives and plastering it across the Data Pool like idiots. Scraps wasn't surprised, really. Low-grade facial-recognition software can only do so much with such a lousy snapshot. In her defense, it was the best she could manage without looking conspicuous. Maybe if I told him to stand still and smile for me, she childed herself.

Presently, the door hissed open and Zorro led in another potential recruit. Scraps glanced up briefly, then had to do a doubletake. Is that...? Holy drit, it was! Rex Everything, leadman of Graffiti. The cocky attitude confirmed it, if Zorro's little speech hadn't. What the frag was he doing here? Is he the 'package' they're supposed to deliver? Scrap's brain scrambled itself with how fast the thoughts were spinning through it. Graffiti was a local legend, but not big enough to require this kind of special attention. Besides, the screamsheets had been buzzing recently over rumors the band split-up. Is Rex going solo? Did he get nabbed up by some big corpo contract? What kinda job is this, anyway?!

Just then, Mr. Enigma announced himself, seemingly expecting everyone to recognize him. Zekvids? Zekobites? For a moment Scraps forgot all about Rex and went back to tapping on her Agent. Ah, yeah! Zekvids. A couple of his stories popped up in her feed some time back. Something about corpo pollution or something. She consumes so much data regularly, her gonk brain can hardly keep it all straight, but that's definitely why he looked familiar. Instinctively, Scraps began scrolling for any dirt on this Zek. Leverage and blackmail were, after all, her forté.

A voice intruded and broke her concentration. Mindbenders? She looked up from her Agent and was startled to see Rex speaking to her. "Uh... yeah," she managed weakly, then found her stride again. "Booked them in several of the local clubs. Someone else got them that spot on Channel 8 though. Can't take the cred for that one." When Rex shifted his focus to Zek, Scraps decided to chime in as well. "Zekobites... Zekhedz... the corpos he exposes calls 'em Zekophants. Says they're dangerous and that our boy here is only whipping them up into a frenzy. Zek rattles the cages, the corps rattle the sabers." Scraps shifted the conversation back to the rocker. She moved away from her corner and into the center of the room as she spoke. "So what's yer deal? You goin' mono? You the package, or just here for the thrills?"

"Or are you the package, beautiful oneměi yī?" Scraps said endearingly, turning to Niú when the young woman introduced herself. As for the compliment, a nod of the head, then "Xiè xie." Okay... so maybe there was a little room for showing-off after all.

Niu - Netrunner
right-aligned image

Quite likely reflexively, as Niu said it both in Mandarin and immediately after 'Scraps' mentioned her being the package, "(Mandarin) I'm the package alright," in a combo that sounded a little flirty and sarcastic, continuing more casually, "(Mandarin) and you're welcome." Niu's voice is a lot more natural sounding at this point than it was before, likely pointing out that she's speaking her mother tongue. She goes on, talking a fair bit faster than previously and with way more 'body language', "(Mandarin) Oh, no, I'm not the package; I'm here for whatever the hell it is we're supposed to be doing here, probably as much as you I'm guessing. I don't mind if Frost needed us not at shot at you Hal! to get together but FFS, tell us before-hand or something. My time is money dammit! I could be doing a lot more interesting things than just lying here on the couch all afternoon!"

Niu stopped and then realized that that was a perhaps a lie, and in fact she likely would be at home lying on the couch all afternoon. However, she would probably be more productive lying on her couch all afternoon at home as she could work at least, so she gave herself a pass and went back to lounging around on the new couch waiting for Frost....

...also, anyone in the room paying any attention may notice that Niu seems to have absolutely no concept that everything she just said was likely to be gibberish to non-Mandarin speakers...

(OOC edit: grammar. My grammar are terrible today.)

"Zekhedz. Yeah, tried that out a while back but didn't have the zing I was looking for." He made a flippant gesture, a bit wave and of a bit snap as he dismissed that thought. "I got all types that follow my vids. Lot of folks like jacking in to the truths Zekvids share over the stream. Rattle the cage or find yourself locked inside one." This last was said to Scraps with a wink and a half smile.

"You're famous yourself, arent you frontman? Technosynth (this said as he mimicked holding a headset to his ear and pumping his head to the beat) is more my speed but props to anyone putting themselves out there." Dropping his voice to a more personal level he spoke in a more serious, direct manner. "I don't do celebrity pieces but would love to put one out there exposing the way the music biz is based on hooking artists on lace and smash. We can talk, tell your story and get you some likes. Let me know."

Some people in the room could be interesting to look into further. A corp shill, a rockerboy, a fixer or two. Once he knew the job he might reach out to some contacts, see if there was any traffic about these folks that he could do something with. For now he'd keep up the show. Always a good way to get people to loosen up and let their guard down. That's when things slipped. Some of his best vids came from jumping on a slip up.

Scraps gave Zek an appraising look. His comment about either rattling the cage or ending up inside one had a note of personal experience behind it. If there was any pain there, too, he hid it behind a wink and a smile. He certainly had an "on screen" personality, but this was no fool with a camera looking for a quick ticket to fame. There was passion to what he did; a personal mission. He didn't just hop onto whatever new outrage was flooding the data-streams; he chose stories that mattered to him. Quite admirable to find someone with genuine principles these days. The kind of principles that took down the Arasaka Towers almost fifty years ago. "Expose the predatory music industry, neh? What, and topple a well-established tradition that dates back a century?" Scraps layered her words with obvious sarcasm, and returned Zek's wink and smile.

Another smile lit up Scrap's face when Niú gave her snarky retort. So the little boardroom princess had a wildside! As first impressions go, this was a good one. Yeah, it was safe to say Scraps was beginning to like this girl. "Bù yòng kè qi." No need for formalities. Then Niú exploded into a soliloquy that Scraps had a difficult time following. Niú was just here for the job... she was getting impatient... she... Oh! I know THAT word. So princess has a potty mouth too! This just gets better! When the rant finally ended, Scraps smiled politely and motioned to rest of the gang. "I think we all want to know what this job is about. So, any ideas?" Scraps passed her gaze around the room. "Five choombas sounds too much for a simple "here-to-there" gig. This reeks of a test. I think someone wants to see how we 'run together on a small job to get us on a bigger job." She remained standing for a few seconds more, giving each person in the room a measured look, then sat down on the couch and made herself comfortable.

Rex laughed.

”The only way I am likely to be the package is in a body bag. And even then, I doubt I would get this much fanfare.” He made a sweeping motion with his arm to indicate everyone gathered in the room. ”But don’t worry, I am not a total gonk. I have had a little run experience here and there.”

Rex was sure whatever the ladies were talking about in a language he suspected was some form of Chinese was way more interesting than them hearing him talk about himself. But both Scraps and Zek had addressed him directly and he hated to leave anyone hanging.

”The official line is that the band is on hiatus. Personal time. Decompress. The reality is that every band hits the critical spot, break out or break up. Graffiti missed the break out point. In the meantime, a guy’s gotta eat. But enough about me, what do YOU think about ME?” Rex laughed again. He always got a kick out of that old line.

Next Rex split his time between taking in more of his drink and shaking his head at Zek. ”I’m not really the exposé type. I am sure you can dig up plenty of dirt out there though. Maybe even from other Graffiti members. I just can’t kiss and tell.”

Rex wondered if Scraps was right about this being some sort of jump mission to see how they worked together, but just as he tried to keep his eyes from her body as she moved, he thought it best not to offer an opinion on this one. He was too new at edge running to make a proper assessment.

So instead he said, ”Nice to meet you as well, Niu.” Which only caused his eyes to stray to the other stunning beauty in the room. And to think, I am usually the distraction in the group.

A Lover and a Fighter:
right-aligned image

Lynx had been sleeping off a hangover at Bluey's when her agent chirped. She had spent her last eddie on that last drink last night so when the personal communication device went off, it was like a jackhammer in the back of her head but once she read the message she knew it was time to go to work. The compact, yet well-muscled woman raised her head and took a minute to orient herself then clicked her tongue at the greasy-haired bartender, "Yo...Zorro, was it? Got a message from Frosty, says to mention his name to you, Choom."

As the bartender comes around to guide her, she tosses his hand off her shoulder with a bump and roll, "Watch the threads." she jams the little inch-long stub of her last cigar in between her lips and lights it up then adjusts the heavy pistol in the front of her tight jeans so it doesn't slip loose, scanning the full bar with a look that says, "Give me an excuse to use this piece." before sauntering after Zorro.

As she is led to the backroom, she takes note of the way out while taking a hard drag on her cigar. At the door she leans obviously over Zorro's shoulder as she tries to catch the keycode but fails to retain any of it, her head spinning from the sideways lean she attempted.

Once in the room, likely given a little shove from the bartender, she taps the ash off the end of her cigar and tosses the burned out thing in the corner somewhere, then squares off a bit with the others in the room, her right hip cocked up then gives a nod to the others, "Whaz the goods, Choombas! I'm Lynx." she adjusts her pose, hooking her left thumb in the top of her tight jeans and resting her other hand on the grip of her pistol, "Lez make some Eddies!" she winks at Scraps and clicks her tongue.

It seemed like you had been waiting for hours, when if fact it was closer to forty minutes. Nevertheless, none of you like waiting around, well Rex was happy until he finished the last of his beverage, and time was dragging. Where was this Frost guy anyway!? Te door slid open with its now familiar scraping sound and a tall, brazen woman strutted in, her hair shaven on one side and a fat cigar half chewed, half smoked, hanging from her lips. Cocksure as she was she flicked the remainder of her cigar into a dark corner. Attention was peaked that you would finally find out what the hell this shitty gig was. That was, unti the woman spoke.

"Whaz the goods, Choombas! I'm Lynx." It wasn't Frost and shoulders slumped and groans were emitted. The atmosphere in the room now felt flat compared to what it was when the first arrivals entered. Even the holographic Koi was looking glum.

About 10 minutes after Lynx joined the mood aquarium, the door slide open once more. A handsome man stood in the doorway dressed like a million Eddies. Designer glasses framed his angular face and he wore a knee length leather trench coat, it looked real but surely it couldn't be? those things cost a fortune. He stood there for a moment, silently as he scanned the forms scattered around the red room before him. Behind him was a shadowy figure that stood a good two feet taller then he.

"Fu*k!" He exclaimed and turned around and left, the door sliding shut behind him. Moments later, muffled shouting could be heard from outside.

"Fu*king six!? Thats it!? I am supposed to be getting a whole new crew together and you bring me six! You fu*king meat head motherfu*ker! I need six you moron! I didn't say bring me six! You were s'posed to set this up so i could pick the best of 'em. Jeezus christ!"

"Mmmmpphhhh mmmmpphh ggrrr mmmmph mphhhh mmmmmm" came an incoherent response from the other figure.

"Do I look like I give a sh!t!?? F*ck me, Marlon! What choice do I have now, huh!? If these gonks aint up to scratch Candy is gonna have my fu*king head on a spike!"

"MMmhhhuuu mmphhhmmm mpphhmmm" came a retort.

"Oh fu*k off! No, not literally you oversized goon! Stand here and watch the door!" The conversation ended and the door slid open again and the same man stood in the frame, this time all smiles and arms outstretched in welcome.

right-aligned image

"My friends! Choombas! Amigos.....whatever! Welcome, welcome. I am so sorry to keep you waiting, had some biz to take care of. I am Frost." Frost clapped his hands together and strode to the centre of the round sofa and sat in its middle.

"I am so glad my message reached out to so many of you, I trust your journey to Blueys' was a pleasant one? Who wants a drink? You wanna a drink? Ill order some..."

From behind his glasses, Frost right eye glowed red briefly before returning to what one would consider its normal state. As each member present introduced themselves, Frost gave them full focus, engaging in small talk and it was apparent the man had a fair amount of charisma to supplement his handsome looks. Soon, when the drinks arrived, it was time to get down to serious business.

"Listen up, chooms. My man down Del Rey has a package that he can no longer deliver. He has issues with the floodwaters backing up into his pipes and his condo is getting flooded with shitty water. You know, the kind of pipes should be taking away from a thunderbox, not pumping back into a living space. Anyway, i digress. He needs to sort that sh!t out. literally.

There is a drop box at the Metro station on Clink Street. He has parked the package there for collection. Now listen up and listen good. The client has not revealed to me what is in the package, nor do I ask. I suggest you do the same. No questions - it has some military grade security on it so bear in mind two things. One, it must be very fu*king valuable or important and two, don't go try'na open it. If you do, thats my head and yours. And I like my head on my shoulders."

Frost took a small canister from his jacket pocket, popped the lid and shook out two small white pills into his other hand. Quickly dispersing them into his mouth, he washed them down with the glass of Tequila before him.

"This package needs to be taken across town to Watson. Its a big motherfu*ker so I hope you got wheels. There is a hospital, southside in Little China called Wang Tao Medical Centre. Its on Wang Tao Boulevard funnily enough. There is a rear entrance, you'll have to go round the back alley to reach it where a security guard will reach you and let you in the storage facility underneath the hospital. Unload the package there in the loading bay and await the guard to verify it. Thats it. "

Frost took another sip of his Tequila. "You gotta be there for delivery between 1am and 3am. No later, no earlier. Its pretty hard to fu*k this up, so don't!"

Frost then stopped speaking and sat back in his seat, his hand rubbing his cleanly shaven chin.

"Oh, and of course, payment for your troubles. £$1000 each. And I dont do up front payments so don't ask. Do this job right, you get paid and who knows, it may open some more doors. I need six runners, and well...the magic number!" he added, gesturing to all of you. "Any questions?"

Niu - Netrunner
right-aligned image

When it was her turn, Niu introduced herself to Frost; quick, polite, to the point. No resume or background, short and simple. If he wanted a background check he either had it already, or he could do it himself later. When the other 'candidates' were done with their introductions, Nui listened intently to Frost's speech. She wasn't sure but she has this distinct felling that this 'Frost' was almost as Green as she was. She filed this mention of 'Candy' away for later though; the entrepreneurial part of her brain told her that this piece of information might be worth something to someone, so she made a point to do a background check on her for later. Just in case.

She looked from Rex, to Scraps, to Hex, thought about saying something and then decided to keep her mouth shut for now, let them break the ice. Niu wasn't 100% sure but she was assuming, hopefully correctly, that one of these new 'associates' were more inclined to take up the reigns of conversation than herself. She turned her head slightly and looked at Bean, then Lynx; she guessed they might be good at what they do but talking didn't seem high up on that list. Niu took a graceful step back, just a touch, to let one of the others more inclined to chit-chat to take centre stage and discuss the particulars.

A Lover and a Fighter:

Lynx made sure to grab a drink when they came and half-listened to the proposition then downed whatever of her drink she had left and stood up, "Six for a package delivery? Excessive. this is a test, ain't it?" She spreads her arms to gesture to the others then crosses them across her chest, "Which one of you Choombas got the ride, Del Rey to Little China is a haul, especially if we stay out of the city center which is the way I would go if I wanted to stay off the radar. Japantown and Kabuki will be a fun ride if we can't avoid the gangers. I'm in." she smirks over-confidently, "A Thou eddies will get me that new 'ware I've been peepin. Let's hit the Street!" She tucks her pistol a little deeper in her snug jeans and starts heading for the door.

SCRAPS -----HP 35/35 (18)-----SP 11

Scraps made herself comfortable, but not too comfortable. She sat in a position that gave her clear sightlines to the door, her left arm thrown over the backrest to ease access to her concealed holster. Her legs were crossed at the thigh, and her right foot twirled in slow circles as it dangled in the air. She glanced at Rex and surpressed a smile at how uncomfortable the two pretty women were making him. The door slid open, and it was now Scrap's turn to feel uncomfortable.

The woman who walked in had the body of a brute and the face of an angel. Everything about her exuded confidence, from the way she moved to her casual-as-eff greeting. She could chew through a concrete wall, bust through the other side covered in dust and chalk, and look fraggin' great doing it. The wink was no accident either... probably.

"Small world," Scraps said, regaining her composure. Scraps had met Lynx a couple years back, when she was still very new to the Fixer business. She was meeting with a client in a bar not much different than Bluey's. The client was buying drinks, and Scraps had thought it only polite to drink them. Needless to say, the deal fell through and Scraps found herself sitting alone in the booth feeling very sorry for herself. That's when Lynx showed up, blew cigar smoke in her face, and licked a tear off her cheek. Forty minutes later she was licking everywhere else. It was only a one-night fling, but the things Lynx could do with just her tongue still made Scrap's knees tremble. "I see you haven't changed one bit." The petite Fixer tried to match the Solo's confidence. But I have changed, haven't I?

Scraps did not think Frost had intended to be heard through the door, but, oh, he was. She kept her face placid, only a slight, professional smile, when he re-entered. She introduced herself simply, nothing fancy. If it weren't for that little episode in the hall, Scraps may have been inclined to lay it on a little heavy, maybe even dropping Banks name. Anybody who ever had to move cold, hard Eddies through the city knew the name of Banks, and until his recent suicide, she had been his mainline. Scraps choked down her grief as she sipped at her tequila and listened to Frost's proposal.

Military encryption... witching-hour delivery... a Chinese hospital... Yeah, this wasn't sketch at all! Still, a thousand Eddies was rent for the month, and if this led to more lucrative jobs, she might finally afford to move out of that dump. But there was still some logistics to sort out before the crew heads to the drop box. "When you say 'big,' how big we talking? Like, 'stick-it-in-the-trunk' big or 'rent-a-fraggin-van' big?" She glanced over at Bean, wondering what kinda ride the Nomad brought with him... if any.

Scraps nodded agreement when Lynx suggested avoiding City Center. It would be taking the long way around, but it would be much safer. Relatively speaking. "I can get us through Kabuki. The locals shouldn't be a problem, and even if we're followed, I know the streets and alleys well enough to shake 'em."
