I work hard to be the best there is at my craft Bond: One day, I'll return to my Guild (or family) and prove that I'm the greatest artisan of them all Flaw: I'll do anything to get my hands on new magic or technology Personality: Part Mad Scientist, Part Combat Engineer, Jalatin believed combat was the ultimate test for his creations. Personality: Sidroki is devoted to the wellbeing of their creator Jalatin. They're not quite sure how much is due to being thankful for being created, inherently programmed, or concern that Jalatin is the only one who is able to repair and enhance them. However, they are most frustrated at Jalatin's penchant for throwing himself into combat.   Characters Jalatin (Jal) - main protagonist Sidroki Steelforged - warforged created by Jalatin Siduna - Jalatin's mother head of Guild Battleforged Nondraehilda - Jalatin's twin sister; heir apparent to Battleforged Jalatin's Backstory Siduna was past her child-birthing years. However, the Thunder Blessing gave her the nickname - thrice-blessed. She was blessed to give birth again, she was blessed with twins, and she was blessed with a daughter. Siduna tried to ensure that both her newborns were loved and treated equally. The reality was that much of the attention was showered upon the daughter - Nondraehilda or Hilda. So, Jalatin (Jal) was frequently in the background as the adults bombarded Hilda with attention. No one was sure what mixture of nature and nurture caused it, but the two children - Hilda and Jal - embraced the situation. Hilda was an extrovert, engaging with people, while Jal was an introvert. Far more interested in things than people. Their testing at age eight gave proof of their diverse natures. Hilda was sent to be trained as a clerk and merchant, destined to take over Guild Battleforged. Jal's test revealed that he had a talent for artificing. He was sent off to be trained as an Artificer. The twins completed their training and returned to their mother's guild for more training. Hilda fit well into Dwarven society at Lawton. She had multiple Dwarven suitors and was heir designate to Battleforged. In contrast, Jal did not fit in well with Dwarven society. Jal had a natural bent for creativity and invention that was at odds with the traditionalists. Jal was fascinated with the new and different - weapons, armor, and tactics. In particular, firearms fascinated Jal. The first battle of Lawton was a traumatic event for Jal and all Dwarves. Jal was part of the Lawton Militia, and while not initially a combatant, he was pressed into combat as the battle became dire. Additionally, Jal lost multiple parents and siblings in the battle. Jal did not join Balen's Clan or the eventual crusade. He stayed at Lawton, but scarred by the events of the first battle, Jal threw himself into his work - finding magic and technology to make Dwarves more effective in combat. War returned to Jal at Lawson Vale again as the Crusade and its allies met the Warragh. The battle was dominated by the huge construct created by the Warragh and only destroyed by Balen and Raven. While most were terrified of the Construct, Jal was fascinated by the construct. After the battle of Lawton Vale, Jal scavenged the ruins of the giant construct for insights into how to create one and parts that might aid in crafting a construct. Jal had recently completed constructing a smaller construct, Sidroki (Sid) Steelforged. However, Jal has realized that his latest creation needs to be tempered in the fires of conflict. Sidroki's Backstory Sidroki(Sid) had packed much of living into a few short years. His first conscious memories were of Jalatin(Jal) staring down at him. Sid later discovered that his awakening was the last in a long line of failed attempts to imbue sentience into a construct. At first, Sid did not understand the difficulty. Battle Smith had their Steel Defenders; Artillerists could summon Eldritch Cannon, and any artificer could infuse a Homunculus servant. Only when Sid had begun training with Jal and seen other examples of an Artificers crafting did he understand the heights to which Jal aspired. Initially, it was a shock. Sid had an extensive knowledge repository but needed experience to leverage the knowledge. As an example, Sid understood how to wield weapons. However, the first few fights with Jal, ended poorly as Sid fell prey to rudimentary tactics - feints and ripostes. Sid realized that Jal had imbued him with the ability to learn and grow. Jal was a diligent taskmaster and devoted his days to providing the experiences that Sid needed to learn and grow. Additionally, Sid saw the demeaning attitudes with which people treated other constructs and with which some tried to treat him. Many saw Constructs as objects at worst or beasts of burden at best. In contrast, Jal always treated Sid as an equal. Sid saw Jal as their creator, in effect, his god. As the warforged consciousness grew, Sid tried to treat Jal with respect, almost worshiping him. Jal would have none of it. Sid became protective of Jal. Sid did not know how to describe their attitude toward Jal. Sid did not know if they had feelings or emotions and if so, were the feeling similar to Dwarven emotions. Sid chose to simplify the story - the Warforged was protecting Jal because Jal was the only one who understood how to repair him. Unfortunately for Sid, Jal felt that the best way for the warforged to learn and grow was to experience combat with Jal at his side. This led to Jal getting the two of them into various adventures and fights. Eventually, Sid did develop one emotion - frustration at Jal's penchant for getting into trouble.

My reservation last time was the Eldritch Knight aspect of the character. Eldritch Knight just feels wrong to me and gaining those powers would be extraordinary for a Dwarf. Your background gives no explanation for this so that would be an area to work on. Hakar could grant such powers to a Dwarf, but why would they? What service has been done?

I’m a GM in the West Marches campaign and I’ve got active PCs there. I try not to apply for games where the GM has a lot of other applications.

What do you need for a complete application? E.g., do you need character sheets? Do you want a written background in addition to the DnD Background? If so, how long/detailed?

Are there some more World details available to better integrate characters into the worl?

I dont need CS (and there are extra parts rto characters that won't be clear until you start the game) but I would like a backstory that fits the character into the world of the Northlands as laid out in the first post of the thread. The full Homebrew is huge and is taking players a while to get used to so what is in that post will be enough for you to go with , though I will answer any particular questions.

I had no idea if I would have interest when I reopened the thread. I am thinking another week should give me time to get enough applications o sort through so midnight (UK time) on 10th February 2023 it is.
